darrenrover Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 First job for Appleton, do you want to play for Blackburn Rovers or not? If it's the affirmative in his opinion then surely they are in breach of contract and should go. We need players who want to play for the club period. They are all paid handsomely, about time they showed it consistently irrespective of who the manager is/was. Managers should manage, coaches should coach and players should bloody well pull their tripe out and play.

martonrover Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Why? Surely Murphy can spot a donut just as well as we can. He's two years younger than Appleton but a world away in what he has achieved. It's like the bog cleaner being made MD to Murphy and of course, good players always make good managers ( not ).
Rover_Shaun Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I hope he's joined for the right reasons. Oyston says he went for the Stevie V and at 4x his Blackpool salary you have to agree Madness, utter madness to offer a below average rookie that much money over that long a period. He'll have a nice 2 year compo wedge come the summer

beerwins Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 What happened to the 6 month rolling contract anyway?

Just like MA is unlikely to do a Lars Bohinen and say "it feels like christmas"...
darrenrover Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Can't you give it a rest now? Ditto, T homas I nce T oday (capital emphasis) springs to mind.
beerwins Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Wasn't that a Singh initiative? Oh right so has he left the club now? So who runs the club then? So it was Shabby last week who's the gaffer now?
chris_h Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Oh right so has he left the club now? So who runs the club then? So it was Shabby last week who's the gaffer now? I don't have a scooby
jim mk2 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Good luck to Michael Appleton. To judge from tonight's limp performance he has a huge task on his hands. I can accept in the players technical deficiencies and lack of tactical judgment but I will not accept that lack of effort and passion and guts which was on view at Molineux. If Appleton can deliver a team that gives 100 per cent every game he will be doing well.
booth Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Oh right so has he left the club now? So who runs the club then?So it was Shabby last week who's the gaffer now? It's to be decided at the next half time Rovers Return tombola, Shaw and Agnew are loading up the balls right this minute.
Backroom Tom Posted January 12, 2013 Author Backroom Posted January 12, 2013 In a way tonight was perfect for Appleton as an individual It's a good point but Gary Bowyer displayed some flaws, had we stormed to a win then anything Appleton did would be judged more harshly
Guest Norbert Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Now, I know I was angry when the news broke a few days ago, but that doesn't mean I want him to fail. I'd love it if he takes us by storm, proves us wrong about being a stooge/puppet and we get promoted. He's very young, he's not that experienced, though what experience he does have is with obstinate owners and/or complete meltdown situations. So this club will be nowt new. And like I said before I don't have that 'you never know it could really work' feeling which is a very good thing. On a side note, now Blackpool are managerless, is Tony Parkes still there to be their caretaker? And though O'Driscoll is odds on, perhaps a sneaky £5 on Mark Robins may be a good outside bet. He's really doing well here in Coventry.

Hope that Best gets fit and stays injury free throw in a new centre half thats dominant in the air, and away we go, onwards and upwards.

So just rebuild the team with no transfer budget that we know of. Oh this could only happen at Rovers, yet again a total cluster ferk

Agree completely our midfield was most lacking today, we struggled to keep the ball, and when we had it, we had no creativity and couldn't create channels for our forwards.

Murphy has being completely useless so far this season, while we all hoped he would be good he simply is not up to the job and should be dropped. If possible I would sell him or give him away in Jan to get his wages of the books and bring someone else in. As for Etuhu well he has been amazing
sns4ever Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I was told by someone quite in the know at blackpool that appleton was on 2k a week and a 12 month rolling contract,if true then no surprise he left for 4x his current wage (still only 8k a week) and a 2 1/2 year contact. May have missed this earlier but any indication that appleton will get any transfer funds during this window?
The Rover of Finland Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Hope Appleton demands a new midfielder who can pass an easy ball to team mate and cover the defence. Lowe or Etuhu can´t do the job. Soon we have two very good strikers in this level but midfields weaknesses makes difficult to play two upfront.

Bing Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Having been at West Brom for a number of years as at coach and with the player himself looking to move on, Graham Dorrans would be an excellent signing if we have the funds and Appleton can convince him to drop down a division. He was the best footballer in the Championship by a mile two seasons ago.
