Murphy would have looked more stupid if he'd started rimming a manager he doesn't even know, nothing whatsoever wrong with his comments. Still, don't let that stop the usual scapegoat attitude towards him eh.....

Many things puzzle me about the appointment of Appleton ,,,,

Was he touted for the job , before Berg got it ?

What has he done in his managerial career to get the job ?

I can understand Brockhall and an increase in wage being factors , then again working with our owners and board must be at best bewildering on a good day ..

Personally , I don't think Bowyer was interested in the job , fair play to him he steadied the ship excellently ..He has kept us out of the relegation dogfight ..

Think the Appleton appointment is more to do with boardroom infighting , than football..

It just doesn't make sense , I wish you well Michael Appleton , hope your stay here is very successful ...

This time next season is the time to judge him , when he can rid the club of the appalling signings of Kean and bring his own players in ........

This present set of players are just not good enough and without the goals of Rhodes we would be staring at another relegation...

100% agree with that, looks a strong squad on paper but its a poor 11 when they cross that line.

Difficult time for all Rovers fans just hope we can make the play off and then someone can fall over and we get a pen in the play off final :tu:

Not too sure about that.

Had to pay compo to get him and he comes with an assistant ( which I like as it gives him more chance of hitting the ground running ).

Yes I should have been clearer,

relatively cheap!

compared to an experienced MANAGER

Until this club pulls together and rallies round a single person who is ultimately responsible for all strategy, then we're screwed. We'll never progress like this.

No new signings, no money for backroom staff, I can only see us going even further backwards, especially with a relatively inexperienced manager at the helm, civil war in the boardroom, a dispirited dressing room and absent owners who make remote decisions and then almost instantly go back on them.

It's carnage, and appointing Appleton's not really going to change much.

As much as I don't rate murphy I think there's some unfair posts on here about his comments last night . He thanked bowyer and says he didn't know much about the new manager. Should he lie? An ex England player or an ex nobber? The experience factor is enormous in both blokes.

Rather have an underperforming young local lad instead of an old journey man who doesnt care about the club.

Yea but old journey man (is he a journeyman mind) is still 5x better than underperforming local lad even when he is performing.

First job for Appleton, do you want to play for Blackburn Rovers or not?

If it's the affirmative in his opinion then surely they are in breach of contract and should go.

We need players who want to play for the club period. They are all paid handsomely, about time they showed it consistently irrespective of who the manager is/was.

Managers should manage, coaches should coach and players should bloody well pull their tripe out and play.

My point from yesterday. How can he ask those questions of players when he's walked from a club after 9 weeks?

Robbie Savage, Football Focus

Former Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage, on Michael Appleton being appointed manager at Ewood Park: "It is very surprising. You just have to look at his record at Portsmouth and Blackpool. I was in the same Manchester United youth team with Michael but, looking at his record, he is very lucky to get the Blackburn job. Football now, in my opinion, is becoming about who you know. We've got to start looking at what they have done."

For once I agree with him.

That is a valid point ..Which could comeback to haunt him !

I don't think that will be an issue, the reason he walked out will become public one way or another and it's pretty obvious the promises made to him to join Blackpool have not been kept, i.e. he wanted was it four players the other week and was told no, and the pitch wasn't going to be sorted, so our players really can't use the excuse that you walked out on Blackpool blah blah blah, of course he may be a breath of fresh air so onwards and upwards COYB.

I shouldn't worry, Sav will be contradicting himself if Appleton wins a game. Never known such a fickle pundit.

Not based on the above but sounds to me like Oyston was glad to get rid (and get some cash) and somebody at Rovers was happy to oblige. Obviously someone somewhere knew what was going on and made a few quid on it betting wise

Still he's here now so let's see what happens, fingers crossed it works

Life lesson for Robbie Savage.

"Getting on" is all about who you know. Companies and institutions are full of over-promoted managers who are in jobs not because of their ability but because of who they know.

It's one of the main reasons many companies fail and why the economy is in a mess.

Not much chance of that

If he left for those reasons we are even more f***d that I though we were

he was cheap is the answer!
