Wet behind the ears was how Howard Kendall was once described !

Second one who posted a reply that bears no relevance to the quote. I said "promoted us to the top flight". Last time I checked this was our goal.....well it was before the weekends shambolics

Win the next 4 home games - easy? Ipswich losing to virtually nobody since McCarthy took over, Brighton a form team with a formidable away record (worse at home) and Charlton also on a good run. Bristol City yes pushovers but probably with a new manager by the time we play them.

Can't doesn't exist. Anything is possible

However a rookie manager with his win rate, a boardroom full of numbskulls, a team of average joes and no budget to replace them suggests otherwise.

Believe me I will love to be disastrously wrong on this one but surviving the season could be his biggest triumph.

i think we will survive, too many points ahead of the relegation zone now, this season is more about consolidation and if we are lucky, might sneak into the play-offs

Sounds like a 'have your cake and eat it' kinda comment, esp with your apparent determination to shout from the rooftops that Appy will fail and shout down anyone who thinks otherwise.....

Obviously never is a big word. It's Berg mk2 all over again when we all convinced ourselves that he was more than just his average past record.

I bloody hope I am wrong. I will be too delerious to bother about the plenty of predictable "you said he was @#/?" comments thrown at me if I am but this club is not set up for success.

Anyhoo I'll keep my trap shut for a while (hurrah!!) and let nature take it's course. Que sera sera.

What have those two done in football since hanging there boots!

Savage is just like a welsh Shebby Singh(tv pundit that talks tosh for a living and loves himself) and Gallagher seems to just pop up on radio talk shows talking about rovers(mostly sitting on the fence) does nothing else, both contradict themselves on a daily basis.

Ha! Well done guys for slagging off two club legends in favour if someone who has just breezed in. I'm all happy to give Appleton a chance but have a word with yourselves will you?

And TJ are you Appletons Dad or something?

You also said you get nowhere with wet behind the ears managers - promotion followed by missing out the following year on goal difference could be considered getting somewhere. He also didnt do too bad at Everton (if I remember correctly it was their chairman who said he was wet behind the ears when they were first linked with him).

WELL SAID THAT MAN. Forget about singh for a moment and see what happens with this new throw of the dice.

Support the new lad, and support our team. Kean the board etc

Legends? Are they balls. Not even in the Flitcroft/Jansen category, either of them. Good yes. Great even. But club legends they are not.

Imo ofc.

Shut up.

Here's hoping it works out , otherwise another large payout to get rid, know he got stick but Singh's 6 month contract with the incentive of a bumper contract seems sensible now

Too bad that bit of enlightenment didn't occur to Singh sooner.

I think B&WA is simply stating that once again we have taken a less calculated risk than necessary and with such risk is a larger chance of failure. He is right. Whilst we all want Appleton to work out for us, there aren't too many signs thus far to indicate that he is the man to take us up the league. I hope he proves the doubters wrong but in a time when we need an experienced manager I feel MA is too much of a gamble.

Dont know how good or bad MA will be but he's a mean looking character, in fact he looks like how Rovers fans have been feeling for the last 2 years so he should fit in.

Legends?? Have a word with yourself first.

Otherwise i agree with your sentiment, Appleton needs to earn our confidence. But we also need to be fair...

Appleton had Thorne at Portsmouth and worked with him at West Brom, may get him on loan?

yeah we could. might have to wait till WBA get Mulumba and Yacob back first before we could get him.
