ABBEY Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 shaw going for houston before blackpool get him
Elegia Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Appointed Friday, New PR company in today, press conference set for tomorrow, press conference cancelled, press conference now wednesday apparently............Appleton changed his mind???? Kean gonna pop his head through the press room door on Wednesday and shout "I'm the next Mourinho"!!!??? Another amateurish episode??? Something simple like they got the tea order wrong??? Should have been today!!!!!!! No excuses!!!!!!
Mike Graham Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 My brother, who is a football journo, and covers Blackpool, tells me that Oyston insisted that Appleton wear long sleeve shirts at press conferences as his multiple tattoos made him look like "a crim" !!
FourLaneBlue Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 But Berg was absolutely atrocious, being better than him isn't good enough, being miles better than him might be.Drawing games isn't good enough either. Kean, Black and Bowyer have shown this isn't a difficult league to win games in with the players we have. 14 points from 12 games with Blackpool was it? You'd have to add 10 onto that points tally to get more like where we should be aiming at, anything less than play-offs is a disaster this season and its about time we started treating it as such and stopped acting like a charity for struggling managers. Yeah, but what´s your point? He´s Rovers manager whether you or I like it or not. We don´t really have much choice but to support him as he has been appointed now. Unless Appleton is a success we will not be promoted. Therefore, we might as well give him a chance.
chaddyrovers Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Appleton's press conference now at 2pm on Thursday I really dont see a issue with having the press conference on Thursday. its just a bloody press conference.
T.J.Newton Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 At least now he'll have a chance to assess the squad a little and have a good look at the setup before having to answer questions on them.
Backroom DE. Posted January 14, 2013 Backroom Posted January 14, 2013 Just a bit weird to announce a conference, cancel it, and reschedule within a day. Surely they knew of training schedules etc ahead of time. I mean, it'd be weird for a well-run club. For an amateur outfit like ours I guess it's standard.
bob fleming Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Appleton's press conference now at 2pm on ThursdayI really dont see a issue with having the press conference on Thursday. its just a bloody press conference. Sensible move I think. Best to wait for the euphoria of his appointment to die down a bit.
chaddyrovers Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Rovers playing Fleetwood tomorrow at Brockhall might be reason for cancellation of press conference.. I would much rather that MA and AW spent their time with coaching the first team and watching tonight reserve game and tomorrow friendly game with Fleetwood.
OJRovers Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Its almost as if they know the fans aren't really bothered to hear what he's got to say.
yoda Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Its almost as if they know the fans aren't really bothered to hear what he's got to say. You mean they are actually going to let him speak! radical @#/?s
Roverthechimp Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Seeing as the first question will be "have you spoken to danny murphy who seemed unimpressed with your appointment after the game on friday?", then giving him chance to speak to the players and get them onboard first might be a good move...
Stuart Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Appleton's press conference now at 2pm on ThursdayI really dont see a issue with having the press conference on Thursday. its just a bloody press conference. You've started swearing a lot lately.Chill.
yoda's brother Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Seeing as the first question will be "have you spoken to danny murphy who seemed unimpressed with your appointment after the game on friday?", then giving him chance to speak to the players and get them onboard first might be a good move... i thought danny was as impressed as the rest of us
thenodrog Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I agree with most of that but I don't think he quite knew the extent of the problems. He then went to Blackpool where allegedly promises were reneged on. Sadly, I can see more disappointment for our Michael... As far as a million pounds over 2.5 years can be described as a disappointment.
chaddyrovers Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 You've started swearing a lot lately.Chill. I said Bloody pal. tho will chill for abit. I just getting annoyed by ppl moaning about the lack of press conference. Personally not bother about it
bazza Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Are they going to bother with a press conference to announce Appleton? Why do we need to have a press conference to announce Appleton? We all know he is our new manager. Is it mandatory to have a press conference? Just because everyone else does it, must we be like sheep? The last thing I want to see is another baldy standing on the pitch at Ewood, waving a Rovers shirt around with his name plastered all over the back. It would sicken me. I wish they would leave the man alone and let him get on with his job.
A cup of beans Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 My brother, who is a football journo, and covers Blackpool, tells me that Oyston insisted that Appleton wear long sleeve shirts at press conferences as his multiple tattoos made him look like "a crim" !! made me chuckle that. So Appleton's presser is now on Thursday. Absolutely shambolic. Though maybe he's learning his lines!
PAFELL Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Because...Appleton's relegated Portsmouth and done worse than Holloway at Blackpool? Its hilarious that anyone thinks this guy is even close to being a good manager. Well, it would be hilarious except we've already been through all this once with Berg, now its just boring and very weird that many fans are failing to grasp the similarities. I think administration and points deduction played a huge roll in pompey being relegated. He only had 10 matches at Blackpool - nobody knows if he would have done worse or better than holloway, if had stayed there for the same length of time.
perthblue02 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 possible reasons for cancelling of the presser 1) The saving Shaw made on chairs is because he didn't order enough , him and PNE are off to Ikea at Warrington this afternoon 2) Mrs D is putting the final touches to the new 4 year plan after the last one (that she wrote all on her own with no help from any football agency) went slightly off target, she will announce at Appleton's Presser 3) The Pune massive want to actually meet and find out who they have appointed before announcing it 4) Appleton getting treatment for his inability to stop laughing his head off at his 4x pay rise 5)and probably the most realistic , nobody knows what the kean is going on, running a football club Venky style

chaddyrovers Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 why are fans so bother about a press conference???
perthblue02 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 why are fans so bother about a press conference??? Chaddy don't think its particularly about the press conference, its just one more example of what a well run club we used to have as become.
