[Archived] Changing your name by deed poll?

I've never been a huge fan of my given name and have seriously been considering changing it (no, not to Amarillo :P). Just wondering if anyone has gone through with it before or whether they think it's worth it? My only hang-ups at the moment are the hassle involved in updating accounts etc., and feeling I've dishonoured my parents in some strange way.

What age and gender are you?
There's an idea. Perhaps people could suggest a new name for 'Dorian' and we could have a poll of the favourites?

I'll go first: erm.

I suggest Wayne.

Or something more American like Drake?

If you're cool enough, you might be able to pull off 'Clint' :P

My friend has just done it, actually changing by deedpoll is easy (although you have to have a first and second name, cant just have one).

However what is a big faf (and cost) is changing everything else....passport, driving licence, bank, insurance policies, pension, employer etc.

Thanks to Clurr for the only half-decent reply. :D

Max Power.

The name you'd love to touch?

I suggest Wayne.

Oh, I see what you did there.

FYI, I've already decided what my name would be.

On the plus side, changing your BRFCS username from Amarillo to Hercules is free of cost and very simple.

My brother changed his surname by deedpoll? Unless it's a fairly recent thing regarding first and second name.

No I mean you still need to have a first and second name. You can't just be called Amarillo, you'd have to be Amarillo Smith for example.

I got what you meant (eventually), but I did say in my OP that it was my first name I wanted to change.

On a similar subject - what made change your name on here to Amarillo?

Villarreal are famous for their yellow strip. Even the club's nickname is El Submarino Amarillo (The Yellow Submarine).

For a long time now Villarreal CF have been my 'second team'. In many ways, I equated them with Rovers (small-town underdogs who gatecrashed the big boys' party and punched well above their weight). A cursory look at both histories will show you what I mean. However, with the ongoing farce visited upon us by Venky's, the Spanish side have now taken top spot. Villarreal still embody the values that I once associated with Rovers. Namely, being run by men of integrity who care deeply about the club and more importantly care about the community. (President Fernando Roig once gave free season tickets to former holders who'd lost their jobs, because he knew the importance of keeping the fan base alive). Ironically, both clubs were relegated out of the top-flight last season but at least I have every confidence that Villarreal will do what it takes to get back there (like sacking a young manager promoted from the backroom and picking an experienced head).

Yeah.
