An awfully poor list! Mauro being the latest one to move, as the club moves on from the Kean era!

I always thought that he looked like a good player and if we could have found the right position for him, he would have been a decent player. He worked his socks off (unlike most of our players) and scored a couple of goals. Good luck to him in Italy. Marcus Olsson, Danny Murphy, CKR, Bradley Orr, David Goodwillie and the Portugese Under 21 team, apart from Nunes, can clear off too.

  • Backroom
Rovers let him down.

Like so many others, we will never know how good (or not) he really was.

Maybe but he had plenty of time to prove himself

Always thought he was decent but lacked a bit of acceleration, always gave his all though

Yes Tom, that is correct, could beat a man but no accelleration to take him away and a little lightweight, think Spain would have been a better destination than Italy, they will bully him in Italy!

A great post, and highlights the problem. How many of that list would get in a premier league team, because we have let more or less an entire mid table premier league squad go in order to buy them.

Our best players are still the ones who have survived the cull, plus Rhodes.

Jordan Rhodes

Rueben Rochina, possibly - in the right squad.

If Vukcevic or Rochina were PL quality somebody would have taken them off us. Rochina in particular is struggling to show he's Championship quality despite having a decent run in his favoured second-striker position this season.

Massive question mark over Rhodes, but Jones and Best are definitel good enough as they have proven to be so already.

Couldn't you make that argument for some of our promotion side? A lot of them we knew had the ability but flattered to deceive until Souness straightened 'em out.

Vuckevic is a class act...we just never got anything like a consistent tune out of him. He'll be playing at a higher level than us when he finally gets out.

I would agree with LeChuck. For quite a while its been obvious that they are technically capable, but they are nearly players, they show just enough in a game to give you that hope that they will suddenly put a run of form together and it never happens.

I would prefer us to build a team around Rhodes and Best up front with 2 wingers, I'd like Nunes to be one as he comes up with an end product, and someone like Burke down the other side. We need to forget the 'number 10's' and play more directly.

I've always admired his efforts. Gave his all and grafted. He was our best player at Burnley too.

He's joined my favourite league. Serie A

Has everything. Great football, scandal, controversy, fierce rivalries.

Its sheer theatre.

Gato may get a new nickname.

Formica means ant in Italian.

He'll be surrounded by South Americans 5 Argentinians (Boselli on his way too, will make it 6)

2 Uruguians

A Brazilian and Paraguian.

Palermo seem like the perfect fit for Mauro.

Have to admire his work rate for sure but was ultimately rubbish. I didn't see an ounce of any 'South American flair' from him and I wasn't too impressed with his technique. If he was called Maurice Formington he would never play in any of Europe's top leagues.

I'll hold my hands up if he proves me wrong at Palermo though.
