SamDingle Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 He was our best player at Burnley too. He was indeed, thought he looked good. If you want to celebrate dross leaving, I'd have got rid of plenty before him. Maybe it was a one-off.

thenodrog Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Vuckevic is a class act...we just never got anything like a consistent tune out of him. He'll be playing at a higher level than us when he finally gets out. Have you ever seen him do anything really classy? I haven't despite watching to see just that. As far as I can see the reputation he enjoys in some circles on here is cos he hasn't played enough to prove or disprove his worth ...for whatever reason . tbh His time here reminds me of the great rock and roll swindle perpetrated by Malcolm Maclaren and the Sex Pistols in the 70's when despite being booked around the country they were paid thousands not to turn up and play. btw I think I would actually prefer to watch the Pistols play than Simon.
Stuart Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 It was his nickname in Argentina. El Gato is Spanish for The Cat. Maybe he was a bit of a pussy. Ahem.

His ball in was a one off for sure. Part of his problem was terrible final ball but he was a tidy little player and a grafter although very lightweight. As i said above there are plenty others i'd get rid of before him but the issue with him is for what he cost and the probable wages he is on could all be put to better use. He reminds me bit of Damien Johnson in the way he was neat an tidy but could not cross the ball or get wawy from his man. Johnty went on to be a centre mid after he left Rovers but i think Formica will alwys be to fragile for the English game. It's also worth mentioning that we've had some decent results since he's been out !

JAL Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I know how good he was. Watched him many times. Me too in fact too many times for my liking.
47er Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Whoever described him as a "nearly man" earlier got it bang on. Just like Kalinic. Everything was encouraging about him till he had to put the ball in the net. You always thought he would come good eventually, he was so unlucky at times etc but eventually we had to write him off. The difference this time around , for Formica and the rest, is that we won't be getting our money back. Incidentally, an Everton fan wrote this week that he'd liked Formica's performance at Goodison last season and that Formica belonged at a "top of the table" club!
JAL Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 and they scousers know their football! One of them did give us Bradley Orr.
