G Somerset Rover Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Who is the Williamson that people keep mentioning? Mike Williamson from Newcastle? Haha we wish Le Chuck! It's some lower league journeyman. If we've fallen this low then God help us: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Williamson

BigBar Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 we would want to start gathering a bit of steam in the next few hours to avoid this being a more depressing situation than it already is...im sure the loan signings will come next week... whats the latest on Kazim, does he even want a permanent move to ewood?

Backroom Mike E Posted January 31, 2013 Backroom Posted January 31, 2013 Tbh with you, Williamson could be what we need in our current situation. The release from Portsmouth seems to suggest more of a 'wage cull' than any detriment to his ability. It'd help if we knew what his game was. Eg: is he a midfield ball-winner or box-to-box (what we need) or yet another attacking player?
Clitherover Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 The release from Portsmouth seems to suggest more of a 'wage cull' than any detriment to his ability. That thought did cross my mind as I was typing.
Teacup Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 We need a ball winning midfielder for sure. One who doesn't get tired after 15 minutes preferably.
roverlution Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Williamson was one of the mainstays in Sheffield United's team last season in their run to the playoffs. Not sure how he has been at Portsmouth this year, but I know a number of Sheffield United fans who were very disappointed he left last season, and believe it was more down to contractual reasons than ability. I wouldn't say he was top of my list of players but I wouldn't mind seeing him at Rovers. He'd fit in with what looks to be our formation system as he fits the traditional wingers mould.
ABBEY Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Adu is awful, I didn't realise we were linked to him? Looks like Balaji has his copy of CM 03/04 out again I have said that since venkys came , ha.
chaddyrovers Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 i expect Baptiste deal to be done with Goodwillie going the other way as part of the deal. plus Henderson n us signing a right winger.
Roverdale Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Jerome Thomas apparently coming in as right winger (Cryer). Great signing for Championship if it comes off
Dave S Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Jerome Thomas apparently coming in as right winger (Cryer).Great signing for Championship if it comes off I thought he played on the left. I stand to be corrected though.
riverside returns Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Says that Thomas is a left winger or central. Still recall the game at WBA couple of years back when he tore into us but we held out. He looked fast and dangerous and knew what to do when crossing or passing.
Backroom Mike E Posted January 31, 2013 Backroom Posted January 31, 2013 I thought he played on the left. I stand to be corrected though. Think he plays both tbh. Wiki states he's a 'left winger but can also play centrally'. Oh bollcoks
ABBEY Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 by eck ,shes a good un on ssn .Toppers would agree .
Backroom Tom Posted January 31, 2013 Author Backroom Posted January 31, 2013 Latest appears to be Outgoings Robbo to west ham in doubt as Robbo wants his contract paying up apparently even though he'd be collecting a wage at west ham Rosado to Benfica is possible but not certain Simon to Nicosia is now off apparently (happy if he stays and plays but don't want him here and being paid for nothing) In: Baptiste - bid rejected by Blackpool Thomas - potentially coming in Would be happy with those two plus a midfielder that can tackle
LeChuck Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Think he plays both tbh. Wiki states he's a 'left winger but can also play centrally'. Oh bollcoks He's definitely a winger. He's one of those right footed players that plays on the left wing. I've never seen him play on the right but I see no reason why he wouldn't be able to.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I just wonder if Simon stays then Thomas might not go ahead. IIRC the manager was saying we have too many players at the same position.
LeChuck Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Robbo to west ham in doubt as Robbo wants his contract paying up apparently even though he'd be collecting a wage at west ham Very greedy if that's the case. Is it definitely the full contract he's after or just this "loyalty bonus" that seems to be in most players contract whereby they are due a payment if they leave the club but didn't ask for a transfer.

Can you blame him? The club suddenly dropped him and decided to get rid. Most players with some time left to run on their deals would do the same. Rovers have handled the Robinson situation pretty badly imo.
den Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_rovers/news/10198639.BREAKING__Rovers_close_in_on_West_Brom_s_Thomas/ Mods - can we not suspend one of the transfer threads?
LeChuck Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Can you blame him? The club suddenly dropped him and decided to get rid. Most players with some time left to run on their deals would do the same. Not the whole contract. We needn't involve a buying club if we're paying the whole contract up, we can pay that up at any time and get rid.
