davefarnworth
"Club" probably hoping they can steal them on loan next Thursday. Possiibly the players have more pride but the agents are greedy beggars. Live in hope but don't cross your fingers. Have the loons (not just from Pune) EVER got anything right? Stuart
2 years of "How not to run a football club" really has taken its toll. Thats the Venky legacy: Wreckage and ruin. Not a tear was shed for Kean outside Braddocks bedsit when he left and yet that window of opportunity has been completely squandered, that more than anything highlights their stupidity and demolition of the entire clubs self-esteem. They are simply incapable and unfit. Obnoxious and completely hateful with it. And some folk are blaming a snowball for the transfer window debacle. (Those who don't think it was a good one "getting rid of the deadwood" ).Entertaining post as always Rolo. You should sign up for a match preview sometime soon. riverside returns
Now then Stuart, it was meant as praise for such prose. Whatever his shortcomings may or may not have been in the distant past, the one thing you can say is that Stuart Hall does give some incredibly well painted descriptions with his vernacular. The golden days of football reporters who actually talked about the game. The days when I used to look forward to the lunchtime football programme on BBC radio. They had some content in those days and not just endless tittle tattle about this player or that. Saturday lunchtimes in my childhood were always spent having a good meal with Eamon Andrews and his team of journalsits in the background before traipsing down to Ewood park. Names fade into memory but there was one chap, Scottish, who always reported on Everton games. I can here his voice now. Nowadays you are lucky to get any reportage jammed between endless Premier league games. Journalism? Don't make me laugh. Now then, where's my football league handbook so I can cross reference "Fit and proper person" with the version in the Oxford dictionary. Please, please beat Bristol City today or I will not be able to visit my local in the south of that city even for a consolation pint.

I miss Danny Baker's 606, as people would ring and tell fantastic stories. Now it's just whinging Villa fans, Man Utd/Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea fans complaining about how the refs and the FA are against them, or just generally boastful idiots. Anyway, if these transfers were messed up because of paperwork not being sent to the FA, the boardroom should go. They won't as Venky's only fire/undermine competent people but they should. patrickvalery
anyone got the lancashire telegraph? cryer tweeted yesterday that in todays LT transfer news who appleton wants next week and jerome thomas and dj cambell are not the only people on it. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/10202322._/ Guess this is what Cryer was on about. Campbell, Thomas, a defender and Williamson. I'm sure some of his comments will ruffle some feathers on here. Statement of intent and such like. The more i think about this the more i think the club saw the opportunity to save on tranfer fees and the deals weren't pushed through for this reason. Kamy100
I am also dubious about the reasons why this couldn't be pushed through before the deadline, particularly the Campbell ell transfer which was at an advanced stage much earlier in the evening from what I was hearing. I find it hard to believe that they messed up the paperwork, if it had been Shebby doing the paperwork then yeah it was possible, but Silvester is a very experienced Secretary and Shaw despite his faults he does know how to do this type of paperwork. I have niggling suspicion that the owners didn't want to burden the club with 2 more players on good contracts as they will review the situation (in terms of their continued funding/future ownership) at the end of the season. I could be totally wrong but this is what I have a feeling is happening.

I could be totally wrong but this is what I have a feeling is happening. I'm basing this on absolutely nothing other than my gut feel. However, I reckon they're off at the end of the season. In addition to the above, and I totally agree with you Kamy, surely they can't be that incompetent not to get these signings through if they really wanted? It's been six months this, six months that - e.g. new manager contract - 6 months (yes, I know it wasn't in the end but this is what Singh said early January). New shirt sponsor - six months. That and the fact that it must be costng them a fortune (hopefully - rather than BRFC) and they show no interest whatsoever in the club, even when they drag themselves over here to watch a game. What have they learnt in two years? Nothing that I can see. Then there was "the cull" in January, how many off the wage bill? 8? 9? Trying to make it a bit more palatable for prospective buyers perhaps? New PR company? (they're doing well aren't they !) Anyway, that's how I'm calling it. Which means they'll probably here for another thirty years minimum and I'm talking out of my kean.

Credit for that then if it's true. Must be a case of 'monkey see, monkey do' after signing 300k over to Karl Oyston just to speak to his manager thats made them wise up. So we should be excited that the players wanted to sign for us, even though they didn't sign?In what way is this a "statement of intent" by the club? For someone without a win in the league, he is bordering very close to Kean-like propaganda.
Hasta
On Rochina, Appleton says that he had no idea Rochina wanted to leave until Thursday morning. That to me doesn't sound like a player such as Robinson or Givet who has been making noises or vibes that he wants to leave. Sure the offer to go to Zaragoza was tempting but I believe if Appleton had wanted him to stay then he would have done. There are probably plenty of footballers who spied a good move this window, their manager didn't want them to move and will then just get on with the job. Regardless of the reasons given, I believe Appleton could have kept Rochina if he wanted and that Rochina would have carried on playing as motivated as he has done. Bold move to ditch him in my opinion.

I'd have liked to see rochina up front but with rhodes, best and potentially Campbell there's little room for him tbh.

G Somerset Rover
Rochina should have stayed - end of. With 20 mins to go if things were tight he's the one man who can unlock the door. I'd wager any money that Rhodes is absolutely gutted to see the back of him.
RockinRover
Rochina has rarely ever unlocked the door from what I've seen of him. He's always got the ball, somehow managed to get out of being trapped between opposition players, dribbled all the way up to the box and then either hit the ball far too far for Rhodes to catch it or blasted it straight over the goal. Peterborough away for Rochina at his best in creating for Rhodes.

thenodrog
Bold move to ditch him in my opinion. And Bold is the wrong word imo hasta. Spouting from the gut rather than the heart or head here...... but I can't help but have a sneaky suspiscioun based on the extremely iffy manner of his arrival that there could well still be a connection between Rochina's remuneration package and the Dodgy Duo that is too much for somebody to allow to continue. Maybe something that might even count as evidence? Who knows maybe I just want to believe it.
