jim mk2
Rochina showed glimpses of talent but never did it consistently. He will improve as he gets older and has more match experience but the Championship is the wrong league for him and he is the wrong sort of player for us at this particular time in this particular division. We need some good old Anglo Saxon kick, bollock and biters.
Backroom Tom Posted February 2, 2013 Author Backroom Share Posted February 2, 2013 Rochinas problem which I talked about at and after the Charlton game is he gets the ball and the vast majority of the time he meanders slowly towards the opposition defenders then tries a trick to beat them, then another because he realises its on his right foot which is only any use for standing on. On the rare occasion he drives forward with pace he's brilliant though, he needs to learn to be more direct like against Forest when he got the lucky bounce. We need some good old Anglo Saxon kick, bollock and biters. Not in his position we don't. Rem last time we got promoted how massively Berkowitz contributed and he didn't have a tackle in him! Any improvement in midfield needs to be in the Murphy/Lowe/Etohu dept. Not only that but last but one season Taraabt played a blinder for QPR and was a major reason in them going up. Every team of ambition needs one man with the ability to unlock the stoutest defence, even if some matches see him start on the bench. I rem a munber of clubs coming here this season and virtually putting 2 men on Rochina. Doesn't need me to tell you that leaves someone else free. What's the right word Gord? Disappointing? Unambitious? Poor? I can think of many. What would yours be Den?

Doesn't need me to tell you that leaves someone else free. Doesn't need me to point out it has hasn't worked has it ? Rochina's a luxury player par excellence and nowhere near as effective as Berkovitz who could be relied on to make a significant contribution every match. Rochina might be a decent player when he's 25 but he's no good for us at present.

broadsword
Well I'd be delighted to know how to sign a contract by email the fax cock-up I believe is malicious, however. Get venkys out. But while that's not possible, get some proper admin in! There's such a thing as electronic signatures. And as has also been pointed out, you could scan and send back. As we should all know by now, anything is possible at Ewood, but if I had to guess, someone's desperate to turn the funding tap off because the club will be up for sale by the season's end. It certainly wasn't a transfer window where Venky's made a statement of intent of their desire to get back to the Premiership. I think they've given this season up for good as they don't have the dough to fund a promotion push. In short, it's a mess. Just my speculation. den
Rochina has technical ability, no doubt about that, but he just doesn't have a clue about how the game should be played. For the life of me, I can't understand why he can't grasp that. I was surprised that he went out on loan, but if we had managed to bring in a replacement, it wouldn't have been highlighted like it has. We can cope quite easily without the current Rochina. I also think this idea that he's a creative player is a myth. He might become creative one day, but he isn't that at the moment. I struggle to remember many games where he's actually played anything like well.
martonrover
To me, whilst it's obvious that Rochina has the raw talent he seems incapable of learning how to channel that into effective performances, both individually and as a team player. The problem now of course is an even greater lack of creativity.

He's had a few good half games but I've never seen him play well over 90 minutes He's like a less effective Taraabt in that they pull off the sublime occasionally but attempt it and waste the ball so many more times it can be really frustrating Still he's a player to bring on the mix it up in the second half and I feel we are slightly weaker not having that option
Kamy100
Rochina has bags of ability, technically one of the best Rovers players I have seen and he could've played a Jansen type role for us. The big problem is that he posses no footballing brain whatsoever and consistently makes the wrong decision. I was hoping that Appleton could develop him but that won't happen now. It will be very interesting to see how he gets on in Spain, the game is less frantic and he should get more time, but until he develops a footballing brain he will always be a frustrating player. The difficult bit, is that if he can learn how to play the game as it should be played, we're losing a good player. If he can't change his game - and he's shown no sign so far - then we wont miss him at all. It reminds me of the Bentley situation, In his first season here on loan, his decision making was terrible, so much so that many of us were surprised when Hughes took him on permanently. Bentley came on leaps and bounds after that. That doesn't mean Rochina will though.
Ricky
I have a feeling he may shine in the Spanish league. If he does it has to be a positive for us. Just think he wasn't really suited to the type of game Appleton wants us to play. Peterborough game showed the best and worse of Rochina in one game. Creative and then fannying about on the ball costing us a goal. Yes at 4-0 it's not so much of an issue but could always cost us.

Agreed, he needs to learn that you dont need to try and beat your man every time you get the ball, as its easier to mark. An occassional bit of skill is fine in the last third, but he needs to lay the ball off and keep it moving. Too often he beats the first man and the second takes the ball off him, often in dangerous areas. Also, as a team mate, he must be very frustrating to play with, as firstly he doesnt pass, and secondly you have no idea what hes going to do, so you cant make a run, if your a midfielder you darent run past him, as hes likely to lose it. He also has a tendancy to not pass, bu blast a ball at a teammate, on the occassions he tries. He isnt creative, but his running at tired defences, and quality of strike does create chances for others, not like a Bercovic or Tugay who can slice open defenses and weight a pass brilliantly. I still suspect to this day that prior to us signing him he was playing to orders.
philipl
There is two types of registration - registration of ownership and registration of the squad. It is possible Rovers registered them as Blackburn players before the deadline but didn't register them as part of the squad and therefore they cannot play. However, that is unlikely to be the case but with Rovers you never know.

allan
I would imagine Harry will now block the Campbell loan as Remy did his groin badly at the end of training on Friday and could be out for months adding to Zamora who probably needs another hip op and Johnson out for the season. Without Campbell their striiking options are down to Bothroyd and Mackie .
