beanie Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 It seems odd that we have not really improved that area in years have always thought it has been our weakest area.

Lhrover Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 According to Cryer, we are after Gorkks, Thomas AND Bentley. Hope to have one in by tomorrows game. Im not sure what the cut off point for tomorrows game is. All quality players from what I've seen
scotty_beam_me_up Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 As an aside, young Anton Forrestor scored two tonight as the under 21s beat Chelsea 2-1 At this rate if Williamson goes and scores a hat trick tonight I'm worried the Vatican might come knocking for Mr Appleton.
47er Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 At this rate if Williamson goes and scores a hat trick tonight I'm worried the Vatican might come knocking for Mr Appleton. And if we lose the Inquisition can have him!
Amo Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Not a central midfielder in sight. Disappointing. Some of Bentley's best performances here were at CM, no?
Plastics Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 We've just brought in a central midfielder on a free who he appears to want to use, and hopefully Etuhu will be back soon. Murphy, Lowe, Etuhu, Williamson, Pedersen. We are covered in that area. It's definitely not our strongest point, but we are covered.

chaddyrovers Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Are you serious? He has been our worse player so far this season but that was under Kean. maybe Appleton could get the best out of him like he has will Dann and Hanley. didnt Bentley play CM for rovers when he was here under Hughes sometimes
scotty_beam_me_up Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 And if we lose the Inquisition can have him! And if we lose the Inquisition can have him! Sometimes the inquisition on this board is a little tougher than the Spanish variety.
Lathund Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 but the inquisition on here is very much expected.
John Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Some of Bentley's best performances here were at CM, no? Thought he was always poor when he played CM for us.
neophox Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 It seems that Williamsson is much like Jermain Pennant in style, looks and play......I hope he could provide with crossed on the wings, not a big lad.
47er Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Thought he was always poor when he played CM for us. I think he fancied himself as a CM and pushed for it.. I honestly think he played his best football on the wing. Cracking crosser of the ball---into that deadly area when the keeper doesn't know whether to go or stay.
Waggy76 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Thought he was always poor when he played CM for us. I doubt he could be as poor has Murphy , Lowe and Etuhu !
Amo Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Didn't he play CM when he got his hat-trick against United or was he more of a "number 10" that night?
thenodrog Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Some of Bentley's best performances here were at CM, no? Thats his preferred position cos he wanted to be the new Bergkamp. imo his best position too now that he is getting on a bit. His talent and experience will get diluted on the wing.
riverside returns Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 It is fair to say that RSC benefitted greatly from having Bentley firing accurate crosses into the box.
thenodrog Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 It's fair to say we did too when we flogged him to City for 17m.
neophox Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 What about Florent Malouda on loan from Chelsea until end of season? He is training with the u21 but still a very good player.
Guest Norbert Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 As long as they pay his wages! He'd be brilliant at this level, but I'd be worried if he was a sulky, arrogant character like Anelka. don't know much about his personality.
Kamy100 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Appleton wants to bring in at least 3 players this week. As of last night he is request was still with Venky's awaiting approval.
rovers_rob Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Appleton wants to bring in at least 3 players this week. As of last night he is request was still with Venky's awaiting approval. Do we need to be worried about this or is it just Venkys taking there time (again) ? By the way who is calling the shots now ? I got the impression Bala and Shebby was running the show. Is Mrs D actively making the decisions now ?
47er Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Didn't he play CM when he got his hat-trick against United or was he more of a "number 10" that night? All of our strikers were out that night except Kuqi who, amazingly terrified Utd all night. So Bentley was really our second striker. What a night that was!
Backroom Tom Posted February 12, 2013 Author Backroom Posted February 12, 2013 I think that Rio Ferdinand own goal is one of my favourite Rovers moments of the last 10 years
Doug Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I think that Rio Ferdinand own goal is one of my favourite Rovers moments of the last 10 years It was a fantastic night, the 'Rio is a Rover' chant was awesome. He was clearly rattled, kissing his badge in an act of defiance to the fans baiting. It was a great night!
