neophox Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Only 6 Points of the playoffs...Leicester seems to be on a bad run...lost at home to hudds in FA cup.

neophox Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 To be fair, the only sub would had been changing DJ Campbell for some right winger, but who?
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Shows how difficult it is going to be to get in top 6 - good away result - and yet we lose ground. Such a shame - but for two penalty decisions we would probably have won - hopefully the players will have gained further confidence in MA.
perthblue02 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Also we have Anton Forrester Just watched the highlights and his two goals for the under 21's against Chelsea looks a decent prospect
BuckyRover Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 We will definitely get in top 6. Have faith
neophox Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 We will definitely get in top 6. Have faith I Think so too... just pick up Points....15 games to play.... 6 Points to Catch up...
Proudtobeblue&white Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Let's not get excited - next season is more realistic - win tonight would have been good, but teams above us won so too many points behind - ain't going to happen :-(
Kamy100 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Good point. Seems as though the officials have done us again. As for top 6, if we can all of our home games then that will give us a chance.
Backroom DE. Posted February 12, 2013 Backroom Posted February 12, 2013 Considering the club was in freefall only a month or so ago, plummeting down the league, finishing top half will be a decent achievement for Appleton. He'll then have the summer to hopefully balance the squad as best is possible under the Punatics and make a push next season for promotion. I still don't think we'll make it this season.
G Somerset Rover Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 To be fair, the only sub would had been changing DJ Campbell for some right winger, but who? We were under the cosh. You'd surely make a sub just to time waste, let alone get some fresh legs to run round for a few mins. As I say, I don't think Appleton trusts our 'squad men'.
Exiled in Toronto Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I like Appleton and he has clearly got us playing as a team, but I fear the lack of substitutions will cost us in the near future, especially considering the busy period we're in After his Goodwillie substitution went so well, I'd be amazed if he subbed anyone in last 10 mins unless forced to
jim mk2 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 We will definitely get in top 6. Have faith You also promised we'd avoid relegation.................
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Why? It's a reasonable midfield. Murphy has been ok recently, Lowe is an U21 international, Markus has pace to trouble defenders at this level and Richards has played right wing at international level and for Gala/Fenerbahce. Wouldn't say Brighton's is particularly stronger than ours on paper.[/quot Why? It's a reasonable midfield. Murphy has been ok recently, Lowe is an U21 international, Markus has pace to trouble defenders at this level and Richards has played right wing at international level and for Gala/Fenerbahce. Wouldn't say Brighton's is particularly stronger than ours on paper. It's the weak link in the side and has been for a long time. We could pick up players from a lower level who'd do " ok ". For the sort of money Murphy's on he should be able to dominate games, from what I understand that has never happened all season. Lowe's just a spear carrier as is Markus, he's got pace but that's it. There's very little end product or whisper it , goals, from any of them. Richards has got ability but only plays when he feels like it. To sum up, there's no shape or balance to our midfield. You don't have to look any further for reasons why we'll still be playing Burnley next season.
martonrover Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 The Play Offs would be a bonus. Providing Venky's don't pull the plug the kind of improvement and stability we're now enjoying will stand us in good stead for next season. We have our first proper manager since Sam.
adsfortheblues Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Murphy had a good game?? No did he eck. He's rubbish.
G Somerset Rover Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Central midfield and right wing need bolstering if we're to have any chance of the play offs. Lowe is IMO not good enough for a team aspiring for promotion.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 On the way back now. First half was an embarrassment. How we went in ahead is a mystery. Second half was improved. Brighton had some nice touches and played some decent stuff up until the box but then they had nothing. As the game went on it looked less and less likely that they would score. I couldn't see the pen but the players looked incensed. No subs??! Murphy did very little. Kaz looked a constant threat but tired badly. He looks really unfit as well. Overall, satisfied. We looked solid.
Ianrally Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Sounds like a backs to the wall job. At least we can say the boys battled against 12 men and in the cold light of day it's a point away from home to a team above us in the table. A few months ago this would never have been possible. Well done MA and the team.
rovers11 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Murphy was a class above for us tonight. Kaz's hold up play was good. Quite honestly, Brighton were a class above but just don't have any cutting edge. Good point. Need to stay in touch over the next couple of games before the more winnable matches.
blueboy3333 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 a very good point against a good Brighton side. No goals conceded in open play for 5 games is very impressive considering how @#/? we've been defensively for over two years. Two wide men and a CM on loan and we can make a real push for the play-offs. If we beat Hull a top 2 finish is on :-) a very good point against a good Brighton side. Takemyhandsboss Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Just got back... we were absolutely played off the park. Sloppy passing... no movement off the ball.No... well we didnt look great or a side which deserved to be in the Prem. Solid defensively however and the time wasting from us from the off frustrated the hell ot of them.
Butty Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Not the prettiest or best performance but would of taken a point before the game. Actually weirdly pleasing too see the team with 5 yellow cards, albeit the ref was a clown but the team definitely playing with a lot more fight. Play off push COYB.
