JAL Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Tough game this one tonight, will give us a good idea of how far we have, or haven't come in Appletons short tenure. A draw would be a good result. A win here tonight and the momentum begins to gather. It has to be a must win game tonight for Rovers.

Majiball Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Not losing will be the priority although that shouldn't mean we set out not to win, another game without a defeat will slowly help to re-build faith & believe within the team and hopefully set us up better for the harder challenges ahead.
Plastics Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Indeed. We are capable of victory. We are capable of defeat. Going for a draw alone could be costly in the long run, but going all or nothing could do the very same. We could win this game and not make the play-offs. We could lose this game and still reach it. No must wins just yet.
BigBar Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Reckon a draw will be a great result,,,there is only 1 goal in this i think...2 max!
Plastics Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 A draw with Rhodes scoring would be very, very pleasing for myself.
JAL Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 It really doesn't.This is a key game if Rovers win it. Must win !
The Rover of Finland Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 This is a key game if Rovers win it. Must win ! A win would be more massive than just three points. It´s not a must win, a draw is acceptable also.
rovers11 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 The two Olsson's will be key tonight. They'll have to stop Buckley and Bruno (two very good players). The Olsson's pace on the break will be key and will cause Brighton lots of problems in an attacking sense. Brighton aren't anything special and their home form has been patchy this season. Let them pass the ball along the back four if they want, we'll just have to be patient tonight.
Backroom DE. Posted February 12, 2013 Backroom Posted February 12, 2013 The Olsson's pace on the break will be key and will cause Brighton lots of problems in an attacking sense. I wouldn't be so sure about that.
Blue n White Rover Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 A win today and then we can really begin to believe that the playoffs is achievable. Huge test for Appleton. First league away game if my memory serves me right. Would love 3 points but a draw won't be a disaster.
AJW Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 any body think Appleton may just play Rhodes up front pack the midfield and look to counter attack ?
yoda's brother Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Indeed. We are capable of victory. We are capable of defeat. Plastics Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 This is a key game if Rovers win it. Must win ! Indeed. A massive victory if we get it. That doesn't make it a must win, though. A must win is a game we must win otherwise we will not reach the play-offs. Too early in the season to be sure if it's a must win. Retrospectively we may be able to look back and see what else we'd have needed but looking to the future we don't know what it will hold. you used to be indecisive but now your not so sure Haha, that's not indecisive, it's a fact. A million different scenarios could play out between now and the end of the season.
Backroom Tom Posted February 12, 2013 Backroom Posted February 12, 2013 One of the toughest games of the season this, a draw will be fantastic but I don't expect much from it It shows how tough a task Appleton has this season when a defeat here will probably spell the end of any hopes left, I just hope people don't seize the opportunity to jump on him if that is the case
Plastics Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 As long as we play Vuckevic the regulars here will lay off him.
JAL Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 any body think Appleton may just play Rhodes up front pack the midfield and look to counter attack ?No ! Three up front tonight. Everyone must attack, thats attacking any Brighton player that has the ball all ten players should be judge on this.
Plastics Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I'm glad JAL isn't our manager. Three up front away from home against a promotion rival where loss is a lot, lot worse than a stalemate and a victory is possible using current tactics?
JAL Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I'm glad JAL isn't our manager. Three up front away from home against a promotion rival where loss is a lot, lot worse than a stalemate and a victory is possible using current tactics?Cheers plastics ! Just trying to be positive. As fortune favours the brave, standing back and waiting just isnt an option. For me, lets get out there and get into em. Lets ruffle some feathers tonight and make that statement of intent ! Attack! attack!! attack!!!
rovers11 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 To put it into perspective, even if we lose tonight we are potentially only 5 points off the playoffs and 9 off 5th place. At worst, it will be 7 points off which is still very much within reach. After the disaster of berg's tenure, id have certainly taken that position with 15 games left. In saying that, if we won tonight id back us to easily make the playoffs.
Majiball Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Albion team: Kuszczak, Bruno, El-Abd, Upson, Bridge; Bridcutt, Vicente, Hammond, Buckley; Ulloa, Hoskins. Sub: Ankergren, Calderon, Dicker, Orlandi, David, LuaLua, Mackail-Smith
chaddyrovers Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Rovers: Kean, Orr, Dann, Hanley, Martin Olsson, Kazim-Richards, Lowe, Murphy, Markus Olsson, Campbell, Rhodes Subs:- Usai, Givet, Pedersen, Williamson, Nuno Gomes, Morris, Goodwillie. looking like 4-4-2 from Rovers. with pace up front in Campbell and Kaz and Markus in the wide positions. Also BHA have gone back to play 4-3-3 after playing 4-4-2 on Saturday.
G Somerset Rover Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Wise move by Appleton to bring DJ in for Gamst. I don't reckon the Brighton defence will have a quiet night playing against Rhodes, Kaz and DJ. Fancy us to win 2-0.
chaddyrovers Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 we will win today with our pace in the attacking areas.
Amo Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 Based on our away form and Brighton's home, it should be a draw.
