John Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Needs to sort his appalling attitude out if he is to perform well - dread to think the antics him and Dunn will get up to.

Proudtobeblue&white Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Rio's here he comes! Was a big fan, off radar for so long, god only knows what he's like now, looking forward to finding out!
rovers11 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 DE, he's still got great ability. He never had much pace but his deadball ability is fantastic. He'll prove that over the coming months. Our tactics will be simple: get it out wide to Bentley, Bentley crosses, Rhodes scores. Easy!
steverovers Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 If I could have hand-picked one player who would sign on loan for us in the current circumstances, Bentley would have been it.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Not seen him play recently but if he is fit, motivated and prepared to work hard for us then that will do for me. Emerton, Tugay and Santa Cruz next on the shopping list (maybe not)
grizfoot Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 There's no doubting Bentley's quality whilst at Rovers, he managed to work his way into the England squad and from memory he equipped himself well on the international stage. Rather baffling how his career want so badly off the rails since his departure. Hopefully we can keep him fit and even if he's only half the player he was once he'll still add something to the team.
47er Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 If I could have hand-picked one player who would sign on loan for us in the current circumstances, Bentley would have been it. Perfect----your post and the player. We adored him when he was here. Rovers made him into an England regular. Don't know how Spurs managed to stuff it up but its somehow right that he starts his career again here.
john.leigh Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 If Bentley was fully fit & on top of his game he wouldn't be coming to us on loan now would he... A 100% Bentley is waaaaaay to good to be playing for a mid table championship team. Let's hope we can be mutually beneficial. Good luck David, glad to have you back. Emerton, Tugay and Santa Cruz next on the shopping list (maybe not) Believe me you wouldn't want Emerton back - he's a very ordinary player in a very poor Sydney side.
waynerovers Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I still use his name as my password for a lot of things to this day. Welcome back
SydneyRover Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I think we do need to keep our expectations in check. I am pleased with the signing but we need to remember just how little he's done since leaving Rovers. On the balance of probability looking at it purely objectively you'd have to say he isn't all that likely to show similar form to last time. But then on the flip side he is a confidence player, and coming to a place where the fans will give him a warm welcome and cheer him on might bring out the best in him.
LeChuck Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Not sure what I did with half reply but the tea was ready and it was duck so I bolted. Sure it wasn't frozen lasagne?
47er Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I still use his name as my password for a lot of things to this day. Welcome back Thanks for that!
JAL Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Excellent excellent news to have David Bentley back amongst our ranks. Just wonder if some of the current Rovers players will be upto his standard for the club to reap maximum benefit from his second coming. Can only say that it will be worth the entrance fee alone just to see how Bentley plays, be it, good, bad, or indifferently. arte et labore
DanLad Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Not sure what I did with half reply but the tea was ready and it was duck so I bolted. What I meant to say was I'm reserving judgement as I still remember THAT interview on SSN, and I don't have him down as someone willing to graft away in the championship. As I said though, I hope I'm wrong. So you're not reserving judgment. You have your doubts and need to be won over. Fair enough.
steven Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 waynerovers what was your bank account username again...?!
Sparky Marky Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Excellent excellent news to have David Bentley back amongst our ranks.Just wonder if some of the current Rovers players will be upto his standard for the club to reap maximum benefit from his second coming.e Should put a fair few on a plate for JR. I imagine Dann will get more scoring chances too.
Backroom Tom Posted February 15, 2013 Backroom Posted February 15, 2013 Leon Best is a big lad as well he may thrive if he gets up and running whilst Bentley is here
67splitscreen Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Can he still take free kicks? ........ Oh good, that'll do me ... for now.
philipl Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I would give him a run at some point today if only because of his Spurs link against Arsenal.
mattyc2422 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Rapt he is back. Very fond memories of the lad and reckon he could add a lot down the right for us. Not to mention the capacity to pass the ball.
s_simpson_9 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Dead. Set. Brilliant. I can't stand spurs/redknapp for a lot of reasons ... ruining OUR David's career is top of the list.
LWX Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 add him to a long list of players that in hindsight probably wish theyd never left in the first place... hope he does well this time round, he was outstanding at times for us.
