Majiball Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 If they've turned the corner we need to knock them straight back round it. Looking forward to this as some of my best memories involve Leeds V's Rovers, the 3-3 was a cracker. Anyway need to attack them at home so I'd hope for this: Kean Orr Hanley Dann Olsson Bender Murphy Lowe MGP Rhodes DJ

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted February 21, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted February 21, 2013 Leeds got their first win in six against Blackpool the other night so they might have turned the corner. Two mid-table teams lacking in quality likely to fight out a lacklustre 1-1 draw. Saturday at the DIY beckons.... To be fair their first win in 6 was against a team managed by Paul Ince....
Blue n White Rover Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Did our powerhouse midfielder Jonathan Douglas play for Leeds, before his ventures down to Brentford?
Backroom Mike E Posted February 21, 2013 Backroom Posted February 21, 2013 Did our powerhouse midfielder Jonathan Douglas play for Leeds, before his ventures down to Brentford? He did. I believe he also played for Blackpool at some point?
onlyonejackwalker Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Thanks for the preview. Think we will edge this by the odd goal. COYB.
david_daft Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 a less big miss, but my favourite Rovers right back, the mercurial, if slightly skinny Kevin Hird................. can only really remember him playing midfield...
old darwen blue Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Really? Bailey and Hird both attacking full backs.
david_daft Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Really? Bailey and Hird both attacking full backs. Didn't see that much of them around the bailey era, had moved down south about that time
old darwen blue Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Ah I see. I was young then but remember them both being very good.
darrenrover Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Ah I see. I was young then but remember them both being very good. Bailey left and Hird right, fantastic attacking options. On another matter ODB, Darwen Blues are running a trip to Sheffield Wed on 6 April from Spinners if you're interested or weren't already aware.
old darwen blue Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I wasn't aware pal but I am now. Ill see what I'm working. I thought those lads were combining transport with the brown cow lads. Is that not the case?
darrenrover Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I wasn't aware pal but I am now. Ill see what I'm working. I thought those lads were combining transport with the brown cow lads. Is that not the case? Absolutely not and never have, it's annoying and disrespectful that others have tried to hijack our name and reputation.
old darwen blue Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Just checked and I'm working nights 6th April ill try and get time off and let PH know. Unless you are he of course!
darrenrover Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Just checked and I'm working nights 6th April ill try and get time off and let PH know. Unless you are he of course! Not me but I know who you mean.
JAL Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Lets hope Leeds can go the full ninety without putting crosses into our box like Hull did when they scored their two goals.
old darwen blue Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Not me but I know who you mean. Ok pal thanks for letting me know I hope to make the trip. Spinners away days are ace
Laurence Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Well a big miss on players is the mercurial Scott Sellars. ...and Jonathan Douglas...?
riverside returns Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Laurence, of course but hardly memorable.
Ianrally Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 When Revie took over the managers job in 1962, he changed their kit to an all white affair based on some misconception that they were, or would be, as good as Real Madrid. The guy obviously had a screw loose. Cough was right. The teams of the Revie era were a bunch of thugs in the main. The only player I liked was Peter Lorimer. Their original colours were blue and yellow which I always thought was the reason their nickname was the Peacocks, but it transpires that that name was because the original name of their Elland Road ground was the Old Peacock Ground. Anyway, never liked 'em nor their fans. 2-0 to our boys.
only2garners Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 On their site it said intial allocation 4k DE lower tier with a possible extra 2k but not confirmed. So it's unclear whether they've shifted 3,300 or 5,300 but it does say no sales on the day so it's likely the latter. That would depend on Leeds taking a punt on selling all the upper tier allocation, as they wan't have got them on sale or return.
SAS Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 They've sold 3,500 apparently, however there seems to be 10,000 sitting in the riverside...
Claytons Left Boot Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Remember the home game against Leeds when there was a minutes silence before the game following the death of Sir Matt Busby. They had half of the Darwen End lower tier and the whole lot of them soured the occasion by singing about the Munich air disaster. Rovers fans were silent to a man. A city five times the size of Blackburn, yet they struggle at times to get 25k in. As well as having the luxury of drawing in fans from all over Yorkshire and beyond. If we didn't make 5k at Ewood the press would be over us like a rash. Forget Birmingham City, Leeds are 'Big Club' bar none. Vile scum. I hate them.
Backroom Tom Posted February 22, 2013 Backroom Posted February 22, 2013 I remember the game but I just remember them singing 'one Don Revie' during the silence
Athlete Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I remember the game but I just remember them singing 'one Don Revie' during the sileto to be fair they were making a point at the minutes silence as it never happened at other games when Revie died....
Proudtobeblue&white Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Been to their ground a few times - never a pleasant experience - remember Shearer's double to earn a hard fought draw - not friendly folk!
