Mercer Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I think once we are out of the cup, Venky's will pull the plug. On that miserable note, goodnight.
JAL Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I think once we are out of the cup, Venky's will pull the plug. On that miserable note, goodnight. Then what ?
pick32 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Get Hugo Fernandez in the center. Got to feel for our defence an strikers with this @#/? center midfield, honestly believe if you took murphy out of the team and put in a jermain jones type player we would have a lot more points on the board. Murphy surrendered possession every time he was on the ball.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Really getting a sense now that this is it, we ain't gonna be back for a long time and the 20 year golden era has ended. Just feel privileged that we were around at the right time to experience those great years...they cant ruin our memories.
adsfortheblues Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 We should keep Kean, Henley, Hanley, Dann (although can see him going, but could stay), king, Rhodes, best and that's it. All the rest are either @#/?, or are loans and won't be coming back (bar Bentley if he can show something). Ollson will be leaving so haven't included him.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 It's the central midfield area that is the problem. By the looks of it in recent games we have had a problem of some players not doing their assignments/roles and therefore that has had an impact on other players. With Lowe and Murphy in central midfield giving the ball away constantly it's meant that the players on the wings have had to cut inside more. Tonight you saw Leicester getting plenty of chances on the wings because we had become far too narrow due to our inability to keep the ball, especially on that left hand side against Pedersen and Rekik. With Leicester managing to get by our full-backs so easily on the flanks that pulled our CB's out of position time and time again. So for me it all stems from that pathetic central midfield play thus generating other problems. What is the solution? Murphy and Lowe need to be dropped, but who do you replace them with? If I was Appleton I would ditch the 4-4-2, we clearly don't have the central midfield to handle it.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I think once we are out of the cup, Venky's will pull the plug. On that miserable note, goodnight. That just may be a cause of the biggest mass celebration in Blackburn since '95. The midfield has been the Achilles heel of our team for years and has never been properly rectified.
Ewoodbhappy Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I don't get it with footballers. Imagine in any other profession or walk of life such erratic performance's. Mr Surgeon can you remove my spleen. Yes sir - this week all will be fine, even though your a tricky patient with hardened arteries - the op will be a breeze, you'll be at home the next day, having a full English, shagging the wife that night. Come next week - we will kill you. It wouldn't be acceptable. Why when they have all week to practice can not defenders - defend, midfielders - midfield(??) & strikers score? Sulky? Lacking confidence? Not good enough? Not paid enough? It's abit cold tonight so can't be arsed? The firkin so called players need to have a firm boot up their jacksee!
barry_ Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 “It was not great," said Rovers boss Appleton. "Leicester played everso well. They made us work very hard from the start the mostdisappointing thing was the manner with which we conceded the goals. "Hopefully we get a reaction. That is the biggest thing we will belooking for on Saturday. At half time I said to the lads don’t getthumped by five or six. I said let’s make sure we don’t get beat in thesecond half and we wouldn’t have been had it not been for their 93rdminute goal." you couldn't make it up
Backroom DE. Posted February 26, 2013 Backroom Posted February 26, 2013 "At half time I said to the lads don’t get thumped by five or six. I said let’s make sure we don’t get beat in the second half and we wouldn’t have been had it not been for their 93rd minute goal." Wow. So our intention was never to get back into the game, just not to get totally destroyed. Ambition.
G Somerset Rover Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Disappointing comments from Appleton 'don't get beat 5 or 6'. Oh that's alright then!!! Don't think about having a go ourselves eh Appy. Not one chance created in 3 games, but keep it up. Getting worried about him now. Comments of a clueless man there.

Way,Way too 'KEANESQUE' for my liking that!
Rover_Shaun Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I expected nothing from Appleton so I'm neither let down or surprised :-)
BRFC1995 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 "don't lose 5 or 6" Mr motivator he ain't, real Dunkirk spirit, tool
jim mk2 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Dear Mr Appleton, How about the weird notion of coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 ? You couldn't make some of this stuff up could you ?
philipl Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 For those who saw it. Seems to be a pattern of a bright competitive first 20 minutes but when the opposition pick up the pressure we cannot live with them. Three headed goals. A srrious problem or a coincidence?

I can't give him my support, he's happy for my team to capitulate. That's outrageous, totally unacceptable. Shades of Steve Kean in saying we almost didn't lose the second half. I guess we take the positive from that and crack on? Being a rovers fan is intolerable.
Backroom DE. Posted February 26, 2013 Backroom Posted February 26, 2013 Three headed goals. A srrious problem or a coincidence? The concensus on the board now seems to be that Dann and Hanley are amazing so it must be coincidence.
philipl Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 "don't lose 5 or 6" Mr motivator he ain't, real Dunkirk spirit, tool Somebody tell him what the dingles game means and how a half time team talk like that will mean curtains.. in every sense.

Seems to be a pattern of a bright competitive first 20 minutes but when the opposition pick up the pressure we cannot live with them. Three headed goals. A srrious problem or a coincidence? Only saw one of the goals on TV. Corner kick landed two yards [no exageration] from Kean, middle of the goal and he never moved.
Backroom Tom Posted February 26, 2013 Backroom Posted February 26, 2013 He's put his foot in it a bit there with those comments
Rover_Shaun Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I think it's made all the worse because after two years of trauma a lot of people were ready to get excited by mere average. A lot more moaning to come before the summer but I for one can't see him being sacked. I'm expecting him to get a summer and the first 10 games.
broadsword Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 He's put his foot in it a bit there with those comments Yep, but hey, at least he's got a northern accent. Which is obviously important. #jokeclub
