Two years ago a premiership club now its going to have to make significant financial cuts. How do you view the club next season.

This got posted in a topic on here a couple of weeks ago, and the bottom chart for me highlights the advantage we'll still have over most of the league. Including parachute payments, which stay at £16m for another year, our turnover should stay at a minimum of £25m next season. As a rough guess I'd say our wage bill is about £30-40m, so yeah if Venkys aren't willing to lose money again, it'll presumably be coming down quite a lot. But unless Venkys really do intend on throwing in the towel, I doubt it'll come down to much below £25m. Referring to that link again, the average wage bill in the Championship that season was about £15m (closer to £13m if you take out West Ham's gargantuan one).

Wolves and their parachute money won't be in our league next season, and with a bit of luck Bolton might not be too. Which leaves less than a handful of clubs that can outspend us, even with us making cuts. I think the chance is still there for success if we can pull things together. And I'd be surprised if Bowyer doesn't feel that way too. He's doesn't seem to me to be giving the same impression that he wants to step-aside as he did last time.

A couple of points to bear in mind before popping the champers on ice. We have already splurged the parachute payments on useless transfers and failed maangers and we are in a total and utter mess from top to bottom without a proper infrsstructure or any leadership.

All this points to us being much more likely to go down than up next year for certain unless big changes are made. Is anyone confident that these changes will be made cos I know I'm not.

Well seeing as we haven't got the second parachute payment yet, I'm assuming you mean we've put ourselves in debt on transfers/managers and have to immediately use it to pay that off. But I'm not sure how you work that out? We spent about £15m pre-season, and made over £25m on player sales including Samba. And Kean, Berg and Appleton probably cost us about £5m between them at the very most.

I'd disagree we're in a mess from top to bottom as well. Under Kean and Bowyer this season the players have shown promotion form, regardless of what's happening at the top, under the right manager they'll just get on with it. Now we might (still a might of course) have the right manager. Which leaves the three stooges in the boardroom and Venkys to deal with, and if I were Bowyer I'd spend the whole of next season completely ignoring the lot of them and just getting on with it.

Breaking News.........Topman in Newton-backed "cheap tactics" jibe!

Breaking News.........47er yet again has a random go at T.J.Newton and/or Amarillo for no reason!

Seriously, will you pack it in? You disagree with him. Understood. We get it. Move on.

Personally GS, id just prefer it if you kept me out of your posts, unless you actually have something sensible youd like to ask me(as you and 47braincells do seem just want to antagonize)

An insult and an accusation of antagonism separated by just 5 words, now that is fast hypocrisy.

(don't mean to join in by the way, just trying to glean some humour from this marathon flicking contest)

Have you dismissed the fact that the club will have had to pay out £4m alone to three different managers this season plus an alleged outstanding £1.1m tax bill to go with this, then throw on top this season that the club has been losing between £1- £2m each month.

Gary Bowyer will have a very good idea of whats going to happen to the club next season afterall hes had two and half years experience under his belt of Venkys and their associates. So if the cut backs are going to be even more cutting than this season then who can blame him for wanting out.

The saddest part in all of this is fans like yourself believing that its going to turn out all right for Rovers.
