gumboots Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Surely too it's different when bowyer says it because he's been responsible for a lot of them coming through so is quite rightly proud of it. I mean I know that Kean discovered phil jones but bowyer must be allowed credit for the rest

bob fleming Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Look at the state of that last picture. They look almost embarrassed to be there.
Rover_Shaun Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 This one struck a bit of a Kean chord http://www.teamtalk.com/championship/8685406/Blackburn-caretaker-manager-Gary-Bowyer-believes-the-future-is-bright-at-Ewood-Park Granted Bowyer is a lot more likeable and doesn't have the baggage but still, reading those quotes in a Cumbernauld accent... (Maybe in hindsight, it's the headline that caught my eye). I was with him until he mentioned Jason Lowe......credibility........open window
Stuart Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2319172/Gary-Bowyer-leading-candidate-land-permanent-Blackburn-job.html"Bowyer has the backing of Blackburns global advisor Shebby Singh, and it is understood that that Indian owners Venkys are now ready to consider offering him the job full-time."Singh wants him. Hmm.
Backroom Tom Posted May 4, 2013 Backroom Posted May 4, 2013 Singh getting anyone he wants is worrying for the fact he probably feels any of his choices will listen to his opinion and let him play at football manager
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Singh has been praising Bowyer more than anyone this season so there shouldn't be any surprise he is pushing for him to get the gig full time. It sends out danger signals that Shebby is touting him so much. There is this view that a manager can be their own man and make their own decisions however if someone plucks you from obscurity and gives you such an opportunity there is that natural feeling that you owe them. As a result would Bowyer get full autonomy with everything to do with the playing side and transfer policy? I have my doubts. If Venky's are unwilling to spend the money and carry out a proper and professional managerial search then they might as well give it Bowyer. However if they go down that route I think it's going to end it tears.
John Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 If Venky's are unwilling to spend the money. The club is taking a financial battering at the moment plus supposedly making a hefty monthly loss - cost cutting will surely have to be a priority. The recent court case validates that there are cash flow issues.
Gav Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I have nothing against Bowyer at all, the mans done a great job keeping us in this league and should be knighted for pulling that rabble together to get the points we needed, but he shouldn’t be given the job fulltime. If we had any ambition whatsoever of getting out of this league we should be trying to appoint an experienced manager who has the balls to stand up to the idiots in the background, has the balls to make the tough decisions and has form in the transfer market, not sure Bowyer is that man. After his visit to Pune, Bowyer is already talking up the owners, and thats a very bad sign indeed in my book, but if he gets the job I’ll support him like I do with all our managers, but I can’t see him getting us promoted.

The recent court case validates that there are cash flow issues. Of their own making by keeping dross on the books, employing crap managers and having to pay them off. If Venky's just this one time put the money in to employ a proper manager and Rovers do well then such a decision longer term could pay for itself. There are some cost cutting opportunities available on the playing side, for example not giving Dunny a new contract and letting him go.
Majiball Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Singh getting anyone he wants is worrying for the fact he probably feels any of his choices will listen to his opinion and let him play at football manager He's bullshat his way onto the board it's all coming now and he'll be in charge next season. He'll be pronouced 'Blackburn Rovers supreme ruler of the Roversverse' soon enough.

I would be very happy with Bowyer as manager. I'm sure he knows the type of player we need for this league plus as this Morning LT said we have 61 players future to sort out whether it loan players, or our players out on loan, plus players out of contract this summer and whether we are keep players or looking to sell them. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_rovers/news/10400201.Future_of_61_to_be_decided_at_Blackburn_Rovers/
roverandout Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 if bowyer gets the job i couldnt give a toss about rovers anymore
chaddyrovers Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 if bowyer gets the job i couldnt give a toss about rovers anymore bye bye then from the this odds list who would you want http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/blackburn/next-permanent-manager
roverandout Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 gee thats a surprise, never expected chaddy to resort to childish remarks. i want a proper manager who can get the job done, dont give a toss who it is as long as he is someone the players can look up to, who is properly respected and get us promoted, i doubt bowyer is any of those things

Backroom DE. As for the other two, according to the players you're wrong. I'll probably take their word for it.
roverandout Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 sure they respect him for now, in 6 months time when they have gotten used to him and start pulling antics like they did to their other mate kean (samba, n'zonzi) then we will talk, could never see those players doing that to a souness or an allardyce, at the moment the upturn in form is due partly also to the realisation that they could have been relegated, they wouldnt want to take a paycut if they had been relegated to league 1 and they also know no other club is stupid enough to pay their daft wages, this is just another honeymoon period and i bet you next season they will return to type, a respected no-nonsense manager wouldnt allow that, bowyer just one of their pals, as for managers, yes i would take coyle in a heartbeat
chaddyrovers Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Roverabout, give us a manager who u want and could get???
Gav Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 haha. what a shame the Players do respect Bowyer and have preform for him. do you want McLeish or Sven or Coyle as manager then??? The players have performed for Bowyer you're right, but if you look at some of the games like Watford away for instance, they couldn't really give a toss when they went 1-0 down, same in a number of other games also and we'll continue to see abject performances like those if we appoint Bowyer in my opinion, he just doesn't carry any clout. As for who to bring in, I still think the job would be an attractive proposition to many managers and those managers don't have to be out of work either.
chaddyrovers Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Bowyer is a strong character and will have clout when appoint permanent Rovers manager. expect big player changes in the summer.
AggyBlue Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 A team takes on the personality of it's manager. Bowyer is too laid back, hence lacklustre performances.
Backroom DE. Posted May 4, 2013 Backroom Posted May 4, 2013 Whether Bowyer carries the gravitas necessary to be in the post and be successful is debatable, but I don't think you can doubt the players' respect for him. Fact is they just aren't that good, and no manager is going to completely overcome the losing mentality that seems natural to a large portion of them.
roverandout Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 is it respect? or is it the fact that he may be one of the boys, respect is for managers like hughes, souness, big sam, i dont doubt he has done a decent job but respect is far to big a word for someone like bowyer who has done next to nothing in the game as for chaddy i have already said i would take coyle
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted May 4, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted May 4, 2013 He's done well for now, but I definitely think the way the players view him if he became permanent manager would change.
