roverandout Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Bowyer is a strong character and will have clout when appoint permanent Rovers manager. expect big player changes in the summer. how do you know he is a strong character? how do you know if he carries any weight with the owners in getting in who he wants? are you related to him? if he was a strong character we wouldnt have seen performances like sheff wed away, watford away or cardiff away, you seem to think the sun shines out of his bottom

Backroom DE. Posted May 4, 2013 Backroom Posted May 4, 2013 is it respect? or is it the fact that he may be one of the boys, respect is for managers like hughes, souness, big sam, i dont doubt he has done a decent job but respect is far to big a word for someone like bowyer who has done next to nothing in the game as for chaddy i have already said i would take coyle I'm sure it is respect. Bowyer's been with a lot of the younger guys throughout their development in the ressies (Kean, Morris, Lowe, Henley, Hanley, etc). You can't tell me that won't have bred any respect. As for players outside that bracket? Difficult to say, though their tweets and interviews suggest they do respect him. Anything else is speculation.
Amo Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Your point's taken, roverandout, but what possible grounds do you have to believe this shambles would appoint a proven manager?
chaddyrovers Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 how do you know he is a strong character? how do you know if he carries any weight with the owners in getting in who he wants? are you related to him? if he was a strong character we wouldnt have seen performances like sheff wed away, watford away or cardiff away, you seem to think the sun shines out of his bottom Cardiff and Watford away performances were awful but that's cos Watford and Cardiff have managers who have been there all season and have built their squad and have be stability all season. Rovers have had 5 managers and no stability at the manager wise. I'm sure Bowyer will make sure he is in charge of transfer in and out before he takes the job. we had bad results away from home under Hughes and Allardyce.
Backroom Tom Posted May 4, 2013 Backroom Posted May 4, 2013 But he's right Chaddy you say he's a strong character with no real proof or reason It's just positive sound bite after positive sound bite
Backroom DE. Posted May 4, 2013 Backroom Posted May 4, 2013 The proof is in his continual turning around of bad situations. Both in matches and in general - you'd have to be blind not to see the impact he's had. Whether he can do it on a consistent basis after being hired is unknown, but he's by far and away the best option as long as Venky's are in charge because they WILL NOT HIRE ANYONE BETTER.
Rover_Shaun Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 He calls Desai 'Madame' so he's a shoe in. Toadying is the way forward at Ewood
chaddyrovers Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 But he's right Chaddy you say he's a strong character with no real proof or reason It's just positive sound bite after positive sound bite Bowyer changes formations during games unlike Appleton and Berg who didn't. like the Millwall away and Today game. he is always encouraging the players to keep working for the team.
Blue blood Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 He calls Desai 'Madame' so he's a shoe in. Toadying is the way forward at Ewood Agree. It's also a shoe out as far as I'm concerned.
Amo Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Parkes was a safe pair of hands, too, but when he looked like getting the job full-time he was found wanting (and close to selling Jansen!). But what choice do we have? Our fate lies with either Bowyer or whomever Shebby finds in his old PL sticker book collection.

I personally wouldn't say changing formations is a sure sign of a strong character My worry is at the moment they are playing well (at times) for their mate, do they fear and respect him enough to keep doing that when he is their boss?
chaddyrovers Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 oh so you have an earpeice and a microphone inside his jacket now? clown and now your posts will be hidden. bye bye

Probably not. But who are Venky's going to bring in who commands fear and respect?

Blue blood Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Would that not help more to play for Bowyer who they know. No it's better if they play for someone they respect. Bowyer has come into the carnage as a familiar face on two occasions giving him a lot of good will and support. And in both cases the players know that it's temporary. Being permanent boss is a different prospect for Bowyer and the players entirely. Incidentally I still can't see any evidence about him being his own man - there's just as much showing he isn't. The only "own man" we've had this season is Appleton so I think we've missed the "own man" manager boat

chaddyrovers Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Gary Bowyer comments after the game today http://audioboo.fm/boos/1370655
RevidgeBlue Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Reasonable but not outstanding finish to the season from Bowyer for me. In my view he comes into the "we could do a lot worse" category. Unless we can tempt an outstanding candidate in the summer it might be a case of better the devil you know. Was undoubtedly imo the correct decision to axe Appleton when we did and bring Bowyer in to guide us falteringly to safety though.
imy9 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 The guy has won 50 pet cent (ish) of his games in the most difficult conditions. Vastly under rated imo and deserves a chance if he wants it.
Steve Moss Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Gary Bowyer has done well during his two spells as caretaker. Considering that only 10 points separate us from the playoffs and 20 points from automatic promotion, I wonder where we would be if he had the job at the beginning of the season? I think we'd be challenging for promotion, which is why I would not be upset if he were given a deal next year. But please, make it a 2 year deal with a 1 year pay-out or, better, a 1 year rolling contract. Though I would obviously like a big name, with the shambles at the management level and the well deserved ridicule of the owners in the press, I don't see quality managers lining up. So if Venkys appoint someone other than Bowyer it will likely be another massive mistake. So Bowyer's steadiness is my preference. And considering the youth of the team he's been playing (http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/football-rovers-future-bright-bowyer-134754895.html) I actually think what he's done is even more impressive. And if he can get rid of some of our more worthless players (of whom we have many) perhaps he'd free up enough cash to do a trade or three. Here's looking forward to next season.
pick32 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 With financial fair play coming in we need a manager who can blood youth and get results. We aren't going to tempt fergie or wenger so id give bowyer the job.
Torgeir Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Thank you Gary! Think he deserves a real crack at it next season.
