It's pathetic and shortsighted how a few see Dunn as some sort if villain in the piece, we've had 21yrs service from the lad, he deserves a bit more respect in my book.

He's not done badly out of us Gav. Don't we deserve a bit of respect from him? I've said this before but I'd love to know mhow much Dunn has earned divided by minutes on the pitch! It'd be bloody scary.

Dunny's a bloody good player of rare talent who should really have played under Shanks at Liverpool when he forbade any of his players getting injured! "Liverpool players dinnae get injured san"..... and he bloody well meant it!

We've had 21yrs service from the lad Gordon! That alone deserves respect in my book.

Players support the manager, simple as that, we'd all have liked him to call Kean a Kean in public but it's never going happen.

That along with his departure to Brum are the negatives, but he's given the club 21yrs service, and that in the modern era is phenomenal and you and your mates that don't even go to games should have a little more respect.

In a nutshell this is what is wrong with todays footballers. Respect? Respect should flow the other way first! He's been a real sick note (and I suspect him of 'swinging the lead' on a number of occasions. Also him coming out with that shyte about Kean was disrespecting the supporters! A right slap in the face. He was feathering his own nest and no mistake. It would have been easiest and wisest not to make a comment cos Keans gone now but we are still here, and we still remember.

Aye, Dunny has said the same crap for every manager, he's that desperate to stay on the gravy train.

Especially when it's contract time

He's still got stains on his tongue from Desai, Kean, Berg and Appletons ringpieces

He'd give Agnew a run for his money in the toad olympics

I presume you felt the same about Bradley Orr?

And been paid vast amounts of money for the privilege. Not to mention most of it's been spent on the treatment table. Overall, Dunn has been a decent player for us, but let's not ignore the fact that had he actually fulfilled his potential he would have gone on to greater things many years ago. I'm not going to exalt him for doing the job he's been paid handsomely to do (when fit), especially when he sells out his beliefs to whomever happens to be the manager, no matter how unpopular or pathetic they might be.

21 years service, what a guy, makes firemen, paramedics and police officers seem so irrelevant, you make him sound like hes done us a favour, like hes in some free charity gig, he gets paid handsomely for his job so I feel no debt owed to him

I had no idea he had scored until I got back from the lakes and remembered to check the score before going to bed.

Though he's paid to play and not insult the fans intelligence with his "kiss anyones clinkers for ££££" comments ;)

I bet the posters who are slagging Dunny off weren't when he scored the equaliser against Burnley were u???

funny how certain members do this.

So you admit opinion is being clouded by one goal?

Thanks.

unless the person coming in is actually much better qualified to do the job than him, I can't see the point of appointing him ahead of Bowyer. Nobody so far has come up with a decent suggestion of who else we could appoint who would be available, effective, likely to come and work here, wouldn't expect to be paid too much and could work on a very tight budget, bearing in mind that we are broke, if most people who understand finance are telling the truth. I don't want Bowyer, not because I'm not grateful for what he's done , but because like everyone else I have reservations about making a caretaker the permanent manager, but there are worse we could be asked to settle for.

great point Gumboots. nobody has so far come up with a Suggestion of manager who most fans could agree on.

I can totally understand your reservations but look at Adkins was a physio at Scunny before become caretaker manager then Permanent manager there. plus promotion at Scunny and Southampton. Plus McDermott at Reading who was Chief Scout before become caretaker manager then Permanent manager there

Bowyer in my eyes deserves the job more than anything. He proved over 12 games this season that he commands respect, and can get the team playing well. The biggest thing for me is that he needs to be able to have complete control of the squad, and who is allowed to play and the starting 11.

I would take Bowyer any day give him the summer to sort the squad out, have a good pre season and give him till Christmas and see where we are at then.

great points and I totally agree with them.

Bowyer will bring our excellent Academy players through to the first team which is essential for a club of Rovers size.

I'm not sure about Paul Scholes. He shuns the limelight and seems shy and retiring. I've no way of knowing how intelligent he is, how articulate or more importantly if he is a leader of men. I simply can't second guess Paul Scholes, does anybody know what his personality is like?

Only from seeing them on the TV I think Phil Neville might provide a better/ safer bet imo.

I agree and that's why I wouldn't say more than I'd want to talk to him. My reasoning for this is that Fergie doesn't just let any old player join his coaching staff and Scholes was pushed that way by Fergie. It could be just because of his status in Uniteds history but it could also be his ability in that type of role, who knows but it's worth a chat to see. The one current top player I think will do it is Gerrard.

Players support the manager, simple as that, we'd all have liked him to call Kean a Kean in public but it's never going happen.

21 years is fantastic and Dunn clearly feels strongly for the club. But he's made 10+ million out of us during those years and most fans have been very supportive of him during that time. I think he should just say nothing as whilst yes he's showing support he's at the same time disrespecting all the fans who have supported him when he needed it. And he's needed it a lot as he makes Grella look fit.

I bet the posters who are slagging Dunny off weren't when he scored the equaliser against Burnley were u???

Name and shame them then chaddy.

Souness got rid because he was 100% right in that Dunn was picking up injuries that only occur when a player is unfit and distracted by other things..........clubs, booze and women. Dunn thought he knew best and the rest of his career has followed that sorry path.

And within that comment lies a clue. In most players of extreme talent their lies a common theme, during their develop years they only experience success, they're the best player all the way through the age ranges. And if one only experiences success when personality, traits and habits are forming you only ever learn one thing, I am never wrong.

just like most of us then. :D;):D

Yes Chaddy just like most young blokes. But they aren't athletes playing professional sport are they? Dunn has been a fool to himself. Very talented and skillful player that could have gone on to much bigger and better things.

Scholes as player manager v Bowyer?

At this level Gumboots, Scholes's on field leadership/performances and influence with attracting players here, might be enough to get us out of this league. If not Scholes's, then someone of that ilk. My point is that surely to goodness we can be a bit more ambitious than appointing someone because "no one else would come here". If people think Bowyer is the top man for the job, then fair enough. I wouldn't agree with that, but At least it's a decent argument.

The thing is, we've all been banging on about experience. Scholes has none, not even the little bit that most of the managers who have failed here have. I know it was Maj who originally suggested him, not you, but you seem to think he'd be preferable to Bowyer who has, to some extent, proved he can get a team playing in this division. Now personally I think that's more of a recommendation than having been a player at Man Utd, even one who Ferguson thinks might be good enough to coach there. Didn't Ferguson also say that he never saw Mark Hughes as managership material? I want a proper manager, not a caretaker we appoint as permanent manager because we can't find anyone else, nor a possible decent manager who has zero experience of anything outside Man Utd. However, if push came to shove I'd take the guy with a bit of experience over the guy with nil, so Bowyer over Scholes for me. I may be wrong; I often am, but that would be my choice.

So are we going to hammer the lad for a few bad decisions? Maturity comes with age, the last few pages prove that...

Yes he's made good money, but so have many players, but we'll never see another player give such service to the club I'd wager, and for that reason alone he deserves more respect than he's getting from some southern based wand spanker and his mates.

Anyway back on topic eh!
