Amo Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Playing devil's advocate here (in the truest sense of the word), but why is that Kean could get decidedly more out of this squad, points wise, than everyone who's succeeded him? Performances weren't convincing, I know, and he had to go for a host of reasons, but it's a results business and it's usually the sign of a good side when you win despite playing poorly. So why is it this team has nosedived so spectacularly since he left us? From 3rd to 19th is some drop.

Athlete Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Well stop trying to get a rise out of me by continually insulting me then! Do you actually have a view on the new manager or are you just trolling between threads trying to wind people up for not being militant enough etc etc tonight? I take it from that he means the six managers in a season scenario. Not any suggestion SS or anyone else is interfering with team selection. Besides Nathan Blake doesn't have the first idea what's happening behind the scenes at Rovers. Nathan Blake was telling it as it is .....he was hurting as much as us
Batman. Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I wanted Kean gone as much as the next man, but the harsh reality the replacements have been worse than him. The nosedive has been alarming.
roverandout Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 That's not even funny i know but if i dont laugh at this situation then i will just cry
Proudtobeblue&white Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Fact, Sam shouldn't have been removed, when at 10 in PL, no need to. Fact, Kean was bloody rubbish from day one. Fact, Kean should have gone before Wolves game, if not after. Fact, Kean shoud have gone Xmas, 11. Fact, Kean should have gone following relegation. Fact SS should have been nowhere near our club. Fact, had any well respected experienced manager been appointed at any time, we wouldn't be in the @#/? we are in. Fact, didn't need 6 weeks to appoint an experienced manager. Fact, SS ego meant he appointed the wrong man. Fact, didn't SS came out and said we needed experienced manager, following wrong appointment of HB. Fact, PNE supporter jumped in and got it wrong again? Fact, sacking MA without another plan B, which in case we are missing, we have never had, they have got it wrong again. Fact, we have the worst owners in football history. And sleep......
chaddyrovers Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 last night in the pub, some people who r rovers fans were saying that they wish Kean was still rovers manager cos we were in top 6 under him before he left. shebby and shangew choose the wrong repalcement for him. if we had appoint McCarthy or Holloway im sure we would have been in top 6.
Gav Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Kean wasn't popular with fans like yourself but when did you know anything ? The position Rovers were in when he left the club he looks a genius now. So you liked Kean then? And you wanted him to be given more time?
Stuart Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I wanted Kean gone as much as the next man, but the harsh reality the replacements have been worse than him. The nosedive has been alarming. Replace "Kean" for "Allardyce" in that post and we have a more pertinent way of expressing our situation.
jim mk2 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Kean was popular with you then, was he? Of course not. He should have gone after the Wolves match in May 2011 and relegated us the season after. He was a liar and he was horrible. But you're missing the point. He gave us a fantastic start to this season without which we would be rock bottom now. As I said, he looks a managerial maestro now compared to those that have followed him. Perhaps we should have stuck with the devil we knew.

You said Kean "was not popular with fans like you" to Gav. Why say that if you, too, didn't like Kean? He gave us a fantastic start to the season in terms of points but you seem to have completely forgotten the performances during this period which were utterly atrocious and ultimately would have had us in a similar position to where we are now. I'm not surprised, because I said at the time if the next appointment(s) were bad people would soon forget how poor the performances were and pretend the start of the season was amazing. And so it's come to be.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Jim, he gave us a fantastic start points wise but football wise we were poor. How many teams did we actually out play in the period ? Kean was directly responsible for the signings of Murphy and Etuhu, these two who were supposed to solved the problem of our @#/? poor midfield have actually made it worse.

And so it's come to be. Some fans liked him - some didn't. If you went to matches you would know the venom against him was far worse on here than in reality. It's all about results - and Kean got them at the start of the season. For all you know performances might have improved. Sometimes it's better sticking with what you've got. The idiots calling for Sam to be sacked and the Trust to be replaced know that now.

As for comparing Kean with Allardyce, in any sense... just stop it. Absolute nonsense.
Proudtobeblue&white Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Kean should NEVER be remembered as anything but a dark time in our history. Doesn't matter what position we were in when he went, he shouldn't have been there in the first place. Wouldn't have been 2nd in the Championship, wouldn't have been in that division but for him & owners!

I reckon you're going soft Jim.

Kean is responsible for a lot more that just his shyte performance as a manger. The fact that he was also part of the scheme that saw us end up with the bunch of crooks that we have owning the club meant he should never have been accepted; just another one of the parasites bleeding this club to death. I hope he rots in hell!
Rover_Shaun Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Oh dear Jim. Though I suppose it's the same as when senile old folks go all gooey eyed for the halcyon days of tin baths, back yard s.hithouses, shillings, spinning tops and slide rules.
Dunnfc Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Steve McClarens odds have sliped to 5/2 tonight making him the favourite ahead of Coyle at 7/1. Gary Bowyer is now 16/1 And Steve Kean DE. is 66/1
Andy Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Quite simply, if Kean was still here, we would now be mathmatically in League 1. It's pure luck on Venky's part that he walked and we're still in with a shout of staying up, despite some horrific appointments, almost on par with the Bald One in terms of sheer incompetence. Anyone giving this piece of dog dirt ANY kind of praise seriously needs their head looking at.
Roverall Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Kean is a parasitic worm. Anyone who knows anything knows that he's had a lot more to do with our downfall than his incompetence as a manager. Jim - time to retire, old boy.
rog of the rovers Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 On 31st October 2012 Blackburn Rovers appointed Henning Berg On 1st November 2012 Ipswich Town appointed Mick McCarthy This is the league table since that point in time.
