Schuster wants the job, he contacted executives here got no luck, so has contacted Pune direct.

No idea if he is the right man for us, but he wants the job.

Any idea why he wants the job so badly?

Is it so he can work till the end of the season knowing he will probably get a massive payout in the summer?

That's him off the list then. Venky's extremely bad at answering letters / emails / or any other form of contact.

I wonder why he is so 'eager' for this job. Unless he sees a huge pay off for failure / sacking. Was he wanting the Reading or Sunderland job's when they were available.

Has the process of finding a new manager for next season (surely we need one desperatly now though?) even begun yet?

Or are they hoping we limp through to May and survive by the skin of our teeth?

Then the usual losers in charge will take 6-8 weeks to hire someone utterly useless for the job and put them up agaianst it from the start by denying them a full pre season and only part of a transfer window?

True, but stuff it, if he is so desperate, it would be good to get him in. After all, Wenger was alright for Arsenal despite coming from Japan. Like everyone else, I've no idea why he is so keen on us, and not any other vacancy.

I agree with you baggie, but look at it this way. You sign a fairly big contract for 3 years, and get £1.5m+ 3 months later when one half of the boardroom decides you're not good enough. Not bad for your bank account really.

Schuster would be good, but I can't help but think his record is somewhat skewed by the clubs he's been at. Other than a run of victories at Shaktar Donetsk and his 7th place at Getafe, he hasn't exactly acheived much better than anyone would expect at the respective clubs. It's hard to argue with that win %age though.

I'd be looking at Phil Parkinson, perhaps? Pedigree at this level and could be looking to leave Bradford if they don't get promoted?

ultimately it's you lot who are getting screwed though isn't it? I as a fan don't really give toss what Steve Clarke gets paid. I expect him to get a fair crack at doing his job though. Between Berg and Appleton it's what less than 30 games? This can't go on its suicidal for the club

Not sure about Parkinson. He did well at Colchester a fair few years ago but has not done anything since. One stunning cup run does not make you a good manager.

On the hope and assumption Bowyer was doing an Allardyce yesterday and resting players ahead of supposedly more winnable games ahead, my only worry with getting a new manager in now would be that they'll be like Appleton and seemingly not realise that the likes of Pedersen, Bentley, Murphy, Orr, Marcus Olsson, King, Stewart, Rekik, Morris, are little or no use.

They'll be in and out of the side, then he'll try someone different, and we'll run out of games before said manager realises what constitutes our best line up.

You make a good point there Rev, we need someone who knows the situation now, we're running out of time.

If we lose to Sheff W then I expect a new manager in for the Derby game.

Is this one of those insider tips, or just a gut feeling? And is someone being looked at, or will it be a case of a name out of a hat?

Rev makes a good point about not having time to assess the squad though.

Re: time to assess the squad, I don't think we have time anyway. As much as I hope we stay in this league (who'd have thunk it 3 years ago, eh?), I'm not sure we will. Stick with Bowyer til summer and hope for the best imo (unless we can find someone who has good credentials at this level or better). I'd be hoping whoever the new manager may be (if appointed before summer) is at least prepared to manage us in L1 too.

Would Hughes see is as a 'fresh challenge'? Straw-clutching, I know but......please?

For me, it's the bad appointments that are the real issue. You can't just persist with bad managers imo, Kean proved that. It's dumb to just keep sacking managers after 10/15 games but I'd rather that than persist with shocking ones.
