[Archived] Berg at the High Court

Recommended Posts

Haha, yeah right - it would be the biggest party Blackburn has ever seen

During the Teasdale protests a close friend was vociferous and vehement in his hatred. This, he assured me was the opinion of thousands of other Burnley fans. Plenty of Rovers fans felt some sympathy because ultimately we are all basically the same under the facade of rivalry, we are football fans who love our clubs.

Be careful what you wish for though. I heard at the week-end that there were some Russians sniffing around your club.

As PA Sports have put it,

.......................... Berg will have effectively earnt:

- £38,596 per day for 57 days

- £183,333 for every spot he dropped them down the Championship table (12, from fifth to 17th)

- £275,000 for each goal worse he made their goal difference (eight, from +5 to -3)

- £220,000 per match (ten)

- £220,000 per goal (ten)

- £366,666 per point in the league (six)

- £2,200,000 per victory (one, a 4-1 thrashing of Peterborough in his fourth game in charge)

or if you like, one-eigth of next year's parachute payment.

Crazy times.............

Stunning statistics assuming they are correct.

No wonder Berg was smiling today.

You seem to have taken quite a worrying amount of time to come up with those figures ;). However after tax Berg is left with roughly £1.4m so you may need to alter them slightly

The ones in court where not the ones who were associated with 'him who shall not be named'.However if you was to read the transcript flying about today you will recognise the name from this article.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-2086450/Agent-Jerome-Anderson-takes-legal-advice-Blackburn-abuse-Charles-Sale.html

So Rovers' new solicitors are the same ones acting for a major supplier.

A conflict of interest?

And an argument that Anderson is no longer involved is I believe likely to be invalidated by extremely recent letters appertaining to things Rovers and most definitely by letters sent after mr tantric says he ceased to have active involvement.

Still cannot understand why people arent looking at the details here....

Rovers are in a massive financial mess, we have spent the parachute payments, the only advantage we had on the others in the league. We had to scrape the barrel to pay Berg, we have yet to sort out Appleton, a new manager, sort out he pay-offs for Appletons backroom team, sort out the pay-offs for Givet, Robbo,Murphy, Etuhu (and Dunn who will be due money for serving out his contract.) Thats before the fact Formica, Rochina are due back on PL wages. We are losing money week after week, and now are likely to have to sell Rhodes for less than we paid for him. Season ticket sales revenue wise next season will be a disaster.

If we are lucky we may be able to gift some of those players away, my guess is no one will want them on their same contracts.

Is someone like the LT going to ask the obvious questions on behalf of the fans, or just make comments asking us if its embarrassing on Twitter? (Yes, of course it is, if you are reading LT). Will Venkys ensure, in public, that they will clear these debts.

I think people are just waiting to see what happens next, Baz.

First thing must be the departure of Shaw - that would be normal. However, Venkys don't do normal.

Next would be confirmation of the plan for a permanent manager, most likely is the installation of Bowyer.

Then it's season ticket prices, now that we are safe. Perhaps for a sense of normality.

Perhaps if we are honest, we are waiting for an announcement confirming that we are being put into administration.

Bowyer to leave ? Have I missed something ? The one person who can hold his head up this season, bloody madness.

I wouldn't put too much stock in a throwaway line at the end of a Nixon article.

Of course, I couldn't have written a script so perfect for Burnley fans, well depending on the ending.

Did you shed tears in '87 or did you cheer Orient on? I think we all you you either cheered our demise or were one of those who followed Jacks money into Ewood.

But on the wider issue, then no, I'm not. A combination of cavalier and corrupt owners, an ineffective and self serving governance system and fans that demand spending beyond the clubs means with little regard for the long term damage as well as an insular view and no interest in footballs health beyond their own turnstiles isn't something that anybody should enjoy.

More good stuff from you Longsiders but I think you know deep down that ultimately there will be a professional Football League club playing in blue and white halves at Ewood Park when this has run it's course.

Perversely, it may possibly turn out to be a positive if turbulent chapter in the club's history. It certainly seems to have mobilised and radicalised a hitherto lethargic support, which something only a match against you lot usually provokes.

"The judge’s final summary revealed that Berg was only on £650,000 a year in the Championship. Bizarrely, Shaw gave him a settlement based on a £900,000-a-year salary over the length of his deal – in case Rovers were promoted and his wages doubled"

I don't even need to add anything there tbh. How f-in stupid can you be?

Glen Mullan is saying on twitter that Venkys are now considering suing Derek Shaw for the Berg losses.

I'm now entirely convinced this is a real life episode of The Truman Show. They're not kidding me any longer.

650k A year happens to be more than 90% of the managers in the bloody league to start with (and more than many premier league managers like Pardew on 500k).. Shaw and Agnew wind me up more than anyone else going.. added to that who gets a big chunk, yet again the AGENTS who negotiated this sodding dirty deal more than likely over a nice fat envelope and a fine bottle of whisky most of us muppets could never afford..

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/blackburn-rovers-ruling-means-sacked-manager-henning-berg-made-39k-a-day--with-michael-appleton-awaiting-his-day-in-court-8595634.html

Appleton hasn't been paid compensation and hasn't even had his contract properly terminated. Perhaps another aspect of Rogue Dereks behaviour.

"The Independent understands that Rovers are seven days away from being pursued through the courts over the non-payment of compensation to Appleton – who lasted just 10 days longer as Rovers manager than Berg. Appleton is understood to be awaiting written confirmation of the termination agreement from Rovers, who sacked him after 15 games in charge. If the club fail to agree terms with the 37-year-old, the League Managers' Association (LMA) will take action."
