Philly13 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I was just wondering if anyone saw the world cup qualifier with Montenegro and England? I wanted to know how Vukcevic looked, as I know he started.

Stuart Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 He was discussed briefly in the YouTube thread. He started but was very poor, particularly his passing. Subbed in the second half. They looked better without him. I think the equaliser came not long after he went off.
LeChuck Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 You can see he's got excellent technique but doesn't seem to do anything effective with it. He's very slow and there were two passes in particular that you wouldn't expect to see in Sunday league football, never mind international football.
thenodrog Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Didn't look much different than he did when he played for us. Massively overrated by some on here imo. Reminds me of 'The great rock and roll swindle' as perpetrated by Malcolm Maclaren and the Pistols in the late 70's. Their reputation grew and grew without them actually completing a booking as venue after venue cancelled their concerts and paid them up.
Backroom Tom Posted March 27, 2013 Backroom Posted March 27, 2013 Ridiculously one footed to the point of messing up simple passes because he didn't dare use his right foot instead opting to pass it with the outiside of his left foot
MrT Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 He was pap, just like he was pap in his handful of appearances for the blues.
LeChuck Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Ridiculously one footed to the point of messing up simple passes because he didn't dare use his right foot instead opting to pass it with the outiside of his left foot Which makes it strange that he seems to want to play from the right hand side. That's a very effective tactic if the player has pace, because the full back can't simply shown them down the line because pace could take them round the back of them (Ashley Young is good at this). But with someone as slow as Vukcevic it's so easy to mark him out of the game.
the original david brent Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I also thought Vuckevic looked overweight and unfit. He looked knackered towards the end of the half
Backroom DE. Posted March 27, 2013 Backroom Posted March 27, 2013 He's usually fairly good for Montenegro, but had a stinker last night. Looks very unfit. The legacy of being at Rovers for an extended period, I suppose.
John Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 He's not played much over the past 2 years, or for an extended period, so surely his fitness levels can't be that great.
Baz Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Was poor. One paced, couldnt pick a pass, and they improved a lot once he was subbed. Is he playing for a club now?
frosty Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Was poor. One paced, couldnt pick a pass, and they improved a lot once he was subbed. Is he playing for a club now? Somewhere in Ukraine I think, not a club I'd heard of though.
Proudtobeblue&white Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I also thought Vuckevic looked overweight and unfit. He looked knackered towards the end of the half Aye, that's the Venkys effect for you to a tee, he'll be a world beater next season!
Andy Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 He was awful. Surprised he's so highly rated by some Rovers fans - pretty poor whenever he did make a rare appearance for us.
Eddie Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I'd hardly say that he was awful. He certainly looked off the pace, but that is to be expected from someone who played in about 4 matches over the course of 18 months. I would certainly not sign him on the back of that performance, but he wasn't so bad that I thought he wasn't good enough for the Championship.
