According to one of the newspapers this last week (not sure which one) we have over 60 professionals on the books including the loan signings. Definitely need to ship a lot of players out before the start of next season. If the squad rule is to have 25 players plus some U21 / Homegrown players then we shouldn't really have more than that.

I'd be trying to ship out Robinson, Henrique, Givet (if he still wants to leave), Nunes, Pedersen, Murphy, Etuhu, Gomes (if not going to be used) and people like Bruno, Formica, Edinho, Jorge and a few of the youngsters who aren't going to make it. That leaves us with..

Goalkeepers: Kean, Usai - I'd get another one in to back up Kean.

Right backs: Henley, Orr - Orr's not the best but as a back up he's fine.

Left backs: Olsson, Morris

Center backs: Dann, Hanley - Definitely our weakest area. Need at least three more good championship center backs.

Midfielders: Dunn, Williamson, O'Sullivan, Rochina - Need midfielders who can go box to box and put a tackle in. Also need a lot more creativity.

Right wingers: Bentley can't seem to stay fit, so he's not worth going after permanently. No more putting other players in this role though. We need out and out wingers.

Left wingers: Markus - Definitely need a top quality left winger.

Strikers: Rhodes, Best, Goodwillie - Definitely need a more powerful striker. Best hasn't quite been up to that role so far.

Obviously that would mean a lot of chopping and changing, but I think we can all agree it needs doing. What we especially need is good british championship players as they're more eager to fight for a place in the Premier League.

Here is my shopping list for the summer. Getting rid of all players not needed anymore is a huge task. Not bringing in any new "Portuguese" should be obvious but you never know.

Yeah we need to shift out 10 to 15 players out that are hanging around just collecting money they really need to want to play because they love playing.

Can't argue with that but it's making them go that's hard. We need Rochina back and a left back/winger too and the poor Ollson out.

I think we will be able to shift a good 10 to 15 out easily. I am optimistic we don't need to spend rash amounts of money either by picking up on some free transfers, with David Jones available, George Boyd, Chris Brunt, Jerome Thomas, Gary O'Neil, Kevin Doyle, Berra, Nick Bailey. They really are some good players available.

Chris Taylor from Millwall will sign for Rovers on a free transfer this summer. A decent player and winger with a left foot. Probably means Pedersen will leave.

Bit of a rumor but my Oldham supporting mate has told me that the 'word about town' is that we are looking at Matt Smith

Matt Smith was frequently used as a substitute by Oldham, so hope not. I haven't given up on Best if he can get a full pre-season under his belt. Besides, we would do well to get even half of what we paid for him if he were to go.
