Atomicrover Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 One word ruins your list ...VENKYSCUM Gotta make my decision today on renewing . Still undecided . We finally took the plunge & renewed. My daughter summed it up when she said that even after all we've been through it wouldn't feel right not to be there.
bob fleming Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 One word ruins your list ...VENKYSCUM Gotta make my decision today on renewing . Still undecided . You say that Abbs but I also think we're in a far better place approaching the new season than we were at the start of last. Mainly for the reasons Stuart lists but even though we must be losing money hand over fist, are Venky's servicing this? Maybe they actually are? Then again they might not be! But all I know is that the club keeps going somehow. I don't think anyone really knows. If they didn't care one iota would they have got us Cat1 status? Would they have paid for a new pitch? Would they have paid off Murphy, Gomes? Would they have allowed Bowyer to bring his own team of back room staff in and funded the wages of the new players? Would they really be letting Bowyer, on the face of it, just get on with it how he sees fit? Or would they have just walked away by now - leaving us with huge amounts of debt? This is in no way a pro-Venky's post, they're minutes away from going straight back to square one at any one time. They have that in their locker, we all know that. I'm just putting it out there that maybe, just maybe, it really has all been down to never been seen before levels of idiocy on their part and the fact that they have been completely and utterly fleeced by placing their trust in the totally wrong people (we know who they are). It's one massive corner they need to turn (I said the other day on here that I reckon it could take up to five years to put things right) but maybe they are going in the right direction? Got to be careful here, I'm well aware that they could cock it all up by the time I've finished typing. They do need to get rid of Shaw by the way. Useless. Anyway, I reckon you should renew Abbey, if only so you can go with your lad. You did it last season - this one for me is at least shaping up a little better in terms of having a plan and a strategy on the football side and although they haven't splashed the cash in terms of transfer fees they do appear to be allowing Bowyer to bring players in with points to prove and hopefully a desire to do well - which is what we all want to see.
ABBEY Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 i cant forgive or forget the past bob, if we won the champions league i would still feel the same.
Rover_Shaun Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I'm sure things would pick up if the owners.....all three of them at the same time......did a video interview in which they were extremely contrite and apologised prefusely for - keeping Steve Kean in the face of overwhelming evidence - allowing the clubs administrators to demonise large swathes of the fanbase because they had the temerity to voice disontent - relegation and at the same time showed a detailed and realistic plan for the future. No silly pledges of promotion by x but a realistic plan to rebuild the cliub, be it in 5 years or 10. It may be put down as hollow words but it would be a start and a sign that they have some awareness of what they have done wrong and that they are trying to remedy it.
bob fleming Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 i cant forgive or forget the past bob Neither will I Abs.
EgyptianPete Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 got my renewal form a few weeks back, needless to say the binmen have it now So when and not if, we are in the top six and playing as a team you still wont go will you, cos you have principles dont you, no offence intended as you have your own thoughts on the goings on at Ewood, anyway like you i have just thrown my renewal pack in the bin, but AFTER i renewed

Yes, any chance of me getting a ST has to start with them acknowledging and apologising for their mistakes. Can't see it happening though.
Al Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Why needless to say? If you don't need to say it then don't. You're wearing your non renewal as a badge of honour and it's not. It's your personal choice not to renew, but it's not some moral highground you occupy there. We've gone beyond this surely. some won't set foot in Ewood until every part of the Venkys takeover is gone. That's their right and their prerogative but don't say it like it's in some way superior. The shredder had my renewal letter a few weeks ago too because I didn't need it - I renewed online. Fully agree with that. If you have ceased to be a supporter it doesn't big you up in my eyes. Quite the opposite. It's time to decide whether you are a supporter or not. If you are go to watch them, if not I am no longer interested in your opinions. You have forfeited them in my eyes.

Regardless of the wrongdoings of venkys etc, I hate seeing ewood half empty, and I hate the supporters of other clubs taking the mickey out of the same.
Stuart Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Gotta make my decision today on renewing . Still undecided .After everything we've been through Abs, to not renew now would be like switching off a life support machine just as the patient was starting to move their fingers. It's a long road back but what a waste of toughing it out for all this time to walk away now.

Excellent sentiment very well expressed
Colt Seavers Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Just this minute renewed for my lad and I. Can't wait for the new season, we are both full of positivity and hope! I work two Saturdays out of every four so need to jiggle things around a bit, but will still be able to visit some new grounds for us; notably Doncaster and Yeovil (yearly overnighter following Bristol City last year and Swansea the year previous to that). We have all been through the emotional wringer in the last few seasons but I definitely see the green shoots of recovery! If you are debating the decision to renew... just go for it! We are good for the play offs at least! COYB!

Maybe the club should interview fans too just to make sure they are 'mad for it'
Stuart Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 depends on whose plugged in.Well if the plug gets pulled, it won't be Venkys that dies. It'll be BRFC. But I'd still go to the funeral with you pal.
Backroom Mike E Posted July 5, 2013 Backroom Posted July 5, 2013 Will the unclaimed STs from today be on sale tomorrow? Or will it take a while to get them sorted? (If anyone knows).
roverandout Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 ok to the people responding to my post, I don't take great delight but I wont set foot in ewood again until venkys have gone, as far as im concerned they had their last when they should have appointed a proper manager in the summer and not another venky bumboy, my hatred of them and some other ewood staff has gone to far for me to turn back now and no I wont return this season regardless of where rovers lie in the table
gumboots Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 That's fine and I have no issue with your not renewing - I wouldn't last year whilst Kean remained. It was the way you said it that irked.
Al Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Maybe the club should interview fans too just to make sure they are 'mad for it' Maybe they should have let me interview you pal. I can detect a smart arse in the first 30 seconds.
bob fleming Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Will the unclaimed STs from today be on sale tomorrow? Or will it take a while to get them sorted? (If anyone knows). I'm not 100% sure Mike, I've got my lad a ST near us in the BBE and asked for a transfer to get him nearer, which they can obviously only look into after today. Currently the boy is 8 seats away (or rather I will be and he can sit with the other "grown ups" who he knows well and I'll take his seat). So I think they allow a couple of days for transfers and the like. A logistical nightmare for the TO staff in all fairness.
Majiball Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 depends on whose plugged in. just do it ABBEY, go along with your lad and keep the father son tradition going. If you stop going you'll miss you next chance to lob a snowball or some such (i suggest an anvil) at the loons from pune.

It's a long road back but what a waste of toughing it out for all this time to walk away now. Well put. That is how we are all feeling in our family. We haveeven sent the priest away...no last rites please, only oxygen and adrenalin etc
Majiball Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Well put. That is how we are all feeling in our family. We haveeven sent the priest away...no last rites please, only oxygen and adrenalin etc It is apt but as opposed to moving our fingers it's more like we're trying a new treatment in hope.
Stuart Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Bowyer and the academy seem more like signs of life than of desperate hope. Desperate hope would be chucking money at ex PL players attempting to get promoted. That's what got us into the mess we were in last season.
