RevidgeBlue Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Watch the back pages tomorrow and the rest of the week , the can of worms is now open :-) Judging by Glen's rather smug tone in the post above, I doubt he was expecting the main thrust of the story to be about The Shebster and his Portugese kindergarden?
philipl Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I posted about £2m of agents' fees when these signings were made. The Mail story is only a hint in my opinion.
philipl Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Wete these fees in any way expected? Were these fees authorised in advance? If they were authorised, who authorised them? These are basic simple questions of simple management and financial control. If there are no simple answers then was there adequate financial control being exercised or should the accounts be qualified because there was no adequate financial control? And the managerial contracts which seemed to come as a surprise. Adequate financial controls to secure the assets of the company? Is Shebby nobody or management or a shaddow director? Are all the agents Rovers dealt with FIFA licenced? And who knows whom?
philipl Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Oh and did anybody expect these players to be any good? And their wages? Where did those numbers come from and who authorised them? And the club's wage structure? And the club staff Shebby likes?

All good pertinent questions but the one highlighted in "bold" has to be the jackpot question as I believe he's had too many fingers in too many pies.
JAL Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I posted about £2m of agents' fees when these signings were made. The Mail story is only a hint in my opinion. How many of those players are Simon Connings ?
philipl Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 And the sales of Nzonzi and Hoilett? All done by officers of the club to secure the interests of the club?
philipl Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Oh and while we are all being entertained by Pune trips, where is the locus of command and control? Is Blackburn Rovers an English domiciled company as defined by the relevant legislation? What is the actual management structure? In theory? In reality? Has there been adequate control exercised by board directors as rehistered at Companies House during the tenures of each and every one of the six football managers? These are enyirely pertinent questions I am putting all parties on notice of including auditors and any administrator if appointed
philipl Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Shebby might be ever so slightly a complicating factor in all this.... Is he Blackburn, Pune or Malaysia?
philipl Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 All those Radio interviews are a matter of public record as is the deafening silence from within Ewood. What would a reasonable person interacting with Blackburn Rovers conclude? Who sat round the table when for instance any sort of football managerial appointment discussions were being held?
adsfortheblues Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Just been discussing briefly on SSN about this story. They had a right good laugh about it and to be honest, so did I. It's got beyond the point where caring exists now, you just have to laugh.

Mullionvagrant Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 It's funny all these are reported as Shebby signings. Steve Kean (and his portuguese experience) was very much pushing these players as good signings when they were made. Which brings up a whole host of differing questions. Not to mention players like Danny Murphy who "claimed the influence of Steve Kean convinced him to drop into the Championship". Having said al that this previous shebby centred article from the Mail makes interesting re-reading http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2255191/Blackburn-Rovers-crisis-players-revolt-Shebby-Singh-pressure.html and this older one in the independent http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/revealed-how-blackburn-have-collapsed-into-chaos-6291478.html and this http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/06/11/revealed-facebook-role-in-blackburns-transfers-as-fans-prepare-for-government-meeting-110601/ so i'm still left wondering...
Paul Mellelieu Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Just been discussing briefly on SSN about this story. They had a right good laugh about it and to be honest, so did I. It's got beyond the point where caring exists now, you just have to laugh. They wouldn't be having a laugh if it was of the top three or four clubs. They'd be demanding something was done to sort it out.
MrT Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Sky Sports dont give a monkeys anyway, never forget who their favourite footy agent is
rovers_rob Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Is GB back from Pune yet ? Just seen Kamy's tweets as well about the bigger story and looks like it has been stopped. As for the timings of these stories and the games coming up, its not great but the manager is currently in India along with all the directors so what difference are a few stories going to make ? When are we finally going to hit rock bottom ? When are we going to start bouncing back ? Glen Mullan tweeted last night that the fight back starts now. I hope he is right.
JBiz Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Northern Rover @Northern_Rover1h I can't say anymore as legals are watching and are very quick to send threatening letters. Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Northern Rover @Northern_Rover1h For those asking I think it has been stopped by legals on the basis of how the info was obtained. Expand Northern Rover @Northern_Rover2h There is a MUCH bigger story RE another agent out there, which some Journos have, at moment legals have stopped it being published. Terrifying the thoughts this gives - the only tiny good that can come from this is If rovers end up being the martyr to regulate agents properly.

Yet still, we have viewpoints that "if only one of those players had come good the agents fees would have been justified. That Mail story is a story of a club out of control, of a club where no-one takes responsibility. A story of people in high places who aren't up to the task. A story of irresponsible owners. How we desperately needed the know how of John Williams - a man who judged expenditure on contracts by league position.

It is weird how a story, no matter how true it is, can be stopped by legal folk. It shows that the ones stopping the story, are the ones who have much to hide.
rog of the rovers Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Surely if something major needs to be said there are ways and means to get round anything libelous. Like "a member of the football family has compromised a football club by giving an experienced player an obscene contract."

Like "a member of the football family has compromised a football club by giving an experienced player an obscene contract." Jack Straw could use his Parliamentary Privilege if this was raised again there.
