[Archived] The Greatest Goal Ever Scored At Ewood Park.

Interesting question Den. It was all a bit of a blur until he got about half way into the opposition half but the memory of the finishing dribbling is vivid. I did however have Alf Thornton's report to read and re-read plus the photographs to refer to. Re Bazza's recollection. If the goal was so straight forward why did the WBA players applaud him back to the halfway line ? I've seen plenty of great goals at Ewood but I can't recall that happening ever again.

Tugay's volley from a set piece corner must be up there.

I can't recall who it was against but I'm sure someone will put me straight.

Anyone remember Kevin Hird's free kick from a volley from 25yards in the Darwen End goal after John Bailey back heel flicked it up for him? Can't remember who it was against but great goal nonetheless.

.

Tugay v Liverpool (Volley)

David Bentley v Salzburg

George Donis v Everton. (1-1)

Gary Croft v Chelsea (We won 1 nil)

i always remember jason wilcox scoring an absolute belter once against wimbledon too.

it was a rearranged game we had when the pitch was water logged and the whole of the crazy gang were doing klinsmann dives in the puddles on the pitch.

The first premiership goal ever scored at Ewood when Shearer knocked Jimmy Carter over the touchline and hit a shot that looped over the top of David Seamans head and into the Blackburn end goal, the crowd went mad, that moment will live with me forever.

Also Mike Newalls goal against Derby at home in the play offs, cut in from the Riverside touchline and rifled one in the top corner, absolute screamer.
