steven Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Don't get me wrong, I think him joining Rovers would a disaster. Apparently he is also interested in Sheffield Utd! I'd like to see him there every day of the week. I didn't sing Arnold Out on the terraces of Northern Spirit over 10 years ago in the old NSL for no reason!

Then spent a few years in the Aussie national team set up?
steven Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Yes but it still didn't excuse how he performed. The home fans used to frequency sing Arnold Out often after singing Arnold Arnold give us a wave. You can still hear it being sung at some Socceroos games and he has nothing to do with the set up these days!

Wasn't here in the NSL days so couldn't comment (although do believe the eastern coast teams and hence FFA wanted rid of the NSL in favour of the Aleague because Perth Glory started dominating it ) So if he's that bad why the success at CCM? , tbh don't feel that he's what Rovers need, just interested in views of somebody who's been following Aussie football longer
BlueMonday Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Find the square root of ridiculous, times it by bizarre minus logic and add moronic = Venkys decision making process. ..............So, when can you start Mr Arnold.
supergrabbi01 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 He's best mates with Robbie Slater, that's the only rovers connection I can really think of. If we were to go for an Australian manager, I'd rather Tony Popovic. He just led the Western Sydney Wanderers to the minor premiership in their first A-League season... Which is pretty remarkable, the club was only formed last year. They started their first training session with only 4 players, he pulled together a squad from nothing and has created a strong work ethic, they give 100% out on the pitch. He's also got shinji ono fit enough to play 90 mins more often than not, in Japan he was thought of as past it, so he has the players fit too. I think he was assistant manager at palace, so he has some experience in the English game.
Brfcrule1 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I think all of you are totally missing the point it is not about whether he has potential to be a good manager the fact remains he is very inexperienced at championship level it seems we are following the same model as Wolves remember Solbakken & now Saunders after the last 2 experiments they should be going for experience this guy represents a massive risk. It also underlines 1 basic fact if they do get him in they seem incapable of learning from past mistakes when you have managers of the calibre of Sparky,M'O Neill,Schuster,Souey etc... experienced proven managers these clowns go for some foreign no mark. Can just see it now Arnold & Ali coming in to manage us heaven help us!. I only hope if they try this the Trust do everything they can to block the move. Totally agree Stuart we need an experienced championship manager not some no mark with possible potential. It seems these clowns are incapable of making rational decisions.
Gav Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Over recent years, Arnold has tried to break into management in England and there were links, if my memory serves me correctly, with WBA, Norwich and Bolton. If correct, goodness know what the link is with Rovers. Have you not put the wife's new car on it mercer?
BrisRover Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Been a follower of the A-League since it started and go regularly to my home town Brisbane's Roar's games. Arnold has done well with the Central Coast mariners but for some reason i've never really been a huge fan of him. I don't think he is what Rovers need right now so i hope it does not happen. If ever we were to bring in a manager from the A-league it has to be Ange Postecoglu. Took the Roar to back-to back titles and within that achieved the longest unbeaten record across all proffesional australian sporting codes. We played fantastic football during his spell as well. Unless Venky's can pull a rabbit out of a hat and bring somebody like Hughes in i would rather we stuck with Bowyer. The bloke has earnt the right to at least have a fair crack at it!!
Rovers_Dan Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 A league is Awful and I don't want a manager from that league getting sacked after 47 days at rovers
BrisRover Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 The standard of the A-League has improved dramatically over the years and growing crowds and TV audiences have backed that up. It's no Premier League but it's entertaining in it's own right.
Rovers_Dan Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I've really struggled to get into it since moving to Australia. That whole finals thing puts me off too
Kamy100 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Chris Flanagan at LT has contacted Arnold's representative who says that they have had no contact from Rovers.
BrisRover Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Yeah the finals seem to divide opinion. I'm not a massive fan of it but i have to say i wasn't complaining when my team was down 2-0 in the second half of extra time only to score to goals in 5 mins and win the ensuing penalty shootout for the title. A packed 56 000 odd Suncorp stadium in ecstacy was immense!!

bypass06 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Australian Arnold linked with Blades job after coaching Mariners to A-League title. http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/australian-arnold-linked-with-blades-job-after-coaching-mariners-to-a-league-title-1-5613523
BrisRover Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Also don't forget the bambi on ice impersonation by the diving commie that won you the finals! Mate only Perth Supporters claim it was a dive. There was contact in the box from behind without getting the ball = Penalty. Don't be bitter now
dave birch Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Arnie's not the bloke for the job, end of. Postecoglu, maybe, just not Arnie.
Alex Rover Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Please tell me we aren't discussing managers from an Australian league?
bypass06 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Blackburn Rovers midfielder backs Bowyer for job http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_rovers/news/10382211.Blackburn_Rovers_midfielder_backs_Bowyer_for_job/
BrisRover Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Please tell me we aren't discussing managers from an Australian league? Is it any worse than talking about our managers over the last year? (Bowyer the exception)
