perthblue02 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Tut Tut, Bowyer taking credit for a Keano discovery
Steve Moss Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Tut Tut, Bowyer taking credit for a Keano discovery Doesn't he have more cause than most? Per wiki Bowyer became the Rover's youth team coach after retiring as a player and reserve team manager in 2009. While I'm not sure of exact dates, from the Telegraph article he was clearly aware of Jones before Jones became a Rovers player. And to Gary Bowyer's great credit he appears to give Steve Nixon the nod when it comes to spotting Jones in the first place. All in all, Bowyer's far more sane on the issue than was Kean.
Oklahoma Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Tut Tut, Bowyer taking credit for a Keano discovery Discovery? He came through the youth team and played his first game for the Rovers first team in September 2009 against Nottingham Forest. It was a league cup game. His first game in the Premier League was against Chelsea in March 2010. And the manager was Sam Allardyce.
Stuart Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Discovery? He came through the youth team and played his first game for the Rovers first team in September 2009 against Nottingham Forest. It was a league cup game. His first game in the Premier League was against Chelsea in March 2010. And the manager was Sam Allardyce. Kean clearly spotted Jones in the youth set up and personally recommended him to Big Sam. How can you not know this?
Oklahoma Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Kean clearly spotted Jones in the youth set up and personally recommended him to Big Sam. How can you not know this? I don't like to praise Kean lol Anyway, the youth staff is more responsible for his development than Kean.
Majiball Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I don't like to praise Kean lol Anyway, the youth staff is more responsible for his development than Kean. Have you seen the Kean / Big Sam video?
Oklahoma Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Have you seen the Kean / Big Sam video? Yes. Thanks for remembering me of that video. Had forgotten about it. I guess my memory is trying to forget the Kean nightmare.
Majiball Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Yes. Thanks for remembering me of that video. Had forgotten about it. I guess my memory is trying to forget the Kean nightmare. Who's memory isn't trying to forget the Kean era. One of the main reasons he left.
perthblue02 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Kean spotted him whilst fighting off tigers on the mean streets of Glasgow ,when Jones was but a sperm in his Dad's testies, He nurtured him through his early years and took the young Jones along when he was running his invisible dog walking business passing on the pearls of wisdom he implemented when cutting grass at Reading. The rest as they say is history Don't like Kean but credit where credit is due as without him football wouldn't have been invented
McClarky Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Kean no doubt discovered Bowyer as well so should take credit for anyone half decent who has come through over the last 9 years. Anyone rubbish isn't his fault though, you can blame the fans for them.
