PAFELL Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Just wait till PAFELL see's this thread. He'll tell you all about why real ale is the best drink in the world. I drink ale, I pour ale, I buy ale and I sell ale. But I thought this thread was about a particular pub being closed. Not about personal preference to a particular alcoholic drink folk prefer to drink. Or for that matter having little digs at other posters. What thwaites are doing with the aguaduct is no different from what many other big breweries are doing up and down the country. Hence one of the campaigns camra have at the moment. Local folk, if they wanted too - could change thwaites minds on this particular pub. For gout sufferers, lay off the stronger ales, especially dark beers - gout will be eased - not cured. (Gout is agony)

Majiball Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 It shut before Xmas as it wasn't making money. It's really common to see boarded up pubs across the city and loads have been closing.
ABBEY Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 had many a beer in there before a game.It was one of them where the locals were very friendly and loved a bit of crack.Took me by surprise when i saw the shutters.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 It shut before Xmas as it wasn't making money. It's really common to see boarded up pubs across the city and loads have been closing. 26 pubs a week according to my paper today. The closure rate is up 50% on what it was a few months ago apparently.
Majiball Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Just like McDonalds there's a Wetherspoons on every corner here. Most of the drinking seems to take place on county road these days before matches.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 26 pubs a week according to my paper today. The closure rate is up 50% on what it was a few months ago apparently. Yea that sounds about right. I heard it was 3 pubs a day about a year ago.
