So we were a mid-table side only when we weren't?

If you finish in the top six you're a top six side. It might be transient but at that time the league doesn't lie. Motty was rather dismissive of our post-title success to say we were a mid-table side at best. That's patently untrue no matter how you try to spin it. But that's the mainstream perception of Rovers, isn't it? Pretenders to the throne who only won it through their local sugar daddy... unlike the other big clubs who all won their titles on a pittance, I presume? They'll never forgive us for that. Still, it's only taken them two years to acknowledge the fowl stench that we've endured for the last two years. When we really needed media support last year, where were they? Too busy gushing over Kean, there's where, one of the main reasons we're in this mess! If it wasn't so sad, I'd be laughing my ass off.

To be fair, we're usually remembered by most pundits as constant relegation battlers... so Motty's being quite kind.

That's why we disagree then, because I don't think it does. :)

If you want to be literal then we finished sixth. If you want to be more figurative and put us in a group, I think "top six" over eggs it. That's grouping us with Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs. Top ten would be fair enough, that would include teams we were competing with regularly.

I don't see how you can group us in one-six when the best we ever did was sixth. Say a team finished bottom half for four years and tenth one year. Does that make them a top ten team over that period? Course not.

Hey everyone, we're in "transition."

Getting relegated, losing many of our fans, destroying every last drop of reputation that we had, all of that - transition.

I can't wait for all this transitioning to stop.

I thought it was OK, Motson was probably right about being mid table (at least once Hughes left, and the Walker Trust were losing interest), and he was very adament about how bad things were. It is not like Motson to mention the pernicous influence of 'one agent in particular'. Ian Battersby came across very well, and more or less spelt out how pathetic, arrogant, stupid, incompetent and two-faced the Rao family are.

Overall, it was pretty good, especially as Jack Straw and a few others laid into the FA etc. for leaving so many clubs in a state.

I'm most worried about what we are transitioning INTO.

The Hughes and Souness years where we finished mid-table you mean?

we we played Sofia , Celtic , Feyenord , Salzburg , Krakow , Leverkusen , Glencilibirligi , etc....

oh + a promotion and Carling cup win and a few FA cup semis as well....

but also agree in the long term for a town club we were punching above our weight but were never in danger of the drop until the loons from pune appeared but facts are facts since 1995 we have had quite a few European campaigns and that is quite an acheivement...so Motson was wrong on that score but to be fair he is now sympathetic to us....

look how many semis we played under Hughes twice qualified for Europe and twice qualified for Europe under Souness also won the Carling cup....if BS would have been given money I reckon he'd have had is in Europe as well

Five Live show was bog standard really. We've heard it all before about how Venkys are useless etc. We`ve known that for 2 years, I'm pretty sick of hearing about it tbh. I wanted the BBC to get someone from the FA on the line. Shouldn't they start really asking question and pressing the FA for answers and what they are going to do about this situation?!

Ian Battersby was good and is someone that I think could be our saviour.

agree the Five live could have gone back to the takeover and delved deeper ie : how Kean was appointed , etc...also thought IB came across very well and diplomatic without calling anyone

But the likes of Fulham, Portsmouth, Bolton etc. also had European adventures. They were also mid-table clubs that had occassional cup success too. That's exactly what we were.

Yeah, we can apparently get ready to enjoy our football again soon Den, so no worries.

So this is all tied in with Keans "what wur tryin to do" - innit.

We all by now, realise exactly what the plan was, don't we?

Should also include Shagnew in our analysis. They're the other half of this internal war that is destroying everything, and are just as bad as Shebby I think we're going to have to resign ourselves to many years of lower league football as the vile, corrupt Indian vermin sit in their ivory towers, detatched from reality and let others ruin the club.

Nah lifelong Rovers supporter doing everything in the best interests of the club and Ribble Valley shelf bloke who made PNE the force they are today ? Your joking , only one person to blame (apparently chose the team for the 1960 cup final as well ) bonus is he's foreign and an egotistical idiot , get him to the duck pond and see if he floats. Lord Agnew and his little lady Derek in the royal box pissing their sides as it happens, high fiving with a wink towards Barnet

Its nothing new from that imbecile, him along with confused in Pune, Agnew and Shaw should all be ousted from the club.

You also have to ask just what the others people at the club are doing, Coar for one, are they all just protecting their pensions? don't want to rock the boat?

Its disgusting, Agnew and Shaw should have resigned after the Appleton , but no, obsessed with money money money and who can blame them, the gravy train is in full flow, milk it while you can eh chaps, keaning parasites.

I try not to think about it because it pisses me right off :angry2: but I can feel a club ban coming on, if I go again that is :angry2:

Well maybe Shebby's comment on 5 live, the venkys are making decisions for the greater good may mean Shagnew are out sometime soon, whats obvious is that Shebby will be here as long as the venkys, so lets hope third time lucky and the new appointments whoever they may be are good, no body knows what the next move will be only the venkys,

I am just going to try to enjoy the last few matches and support Gary Bowyer, then lets see what happens when we are secure in this league., because i am just sick and fed up now, no point in getting high blood pressure my fellow roverites.

''We all know the transition period will end very soon''

Transition period from what to what?

From successful Premier League club to being wound-up?

To be honest if this dick spoke in indian he would make more sense to me.
