T.J.Newton
he looks an identical player to Villanuava- short, left sided attacking midfielder, lacking pace and a bit lightweight, he does however seem to have a very good eye for a pass If he did turn out to be a decent player it could be a real little cash cow having an exciting arab muslim in the squad and possibly draw in a few very welcome new fans from the local Asian community. blue_n_white99
He's gonna love Jan/Feb in Lancashire. Looks a tricky, skilful player, but after last season's woeful midfield performances, is he what we need in the Championship? Countless times last season we were overrun through the middle and he isn't going to help overcome that.

Very much doubt that - it's success and big names that might attract some of our local Asian heritage community and even then it's an uphill battle. Might bring in a few, but they don't really care where players come from - they care about supporting, and i use that word loosely, a successful team. Blue Cabbage
Struts with the ball, very Tugay-esque And before anyone jumps down my throat, just a quick observation, I know Tugay is the master

What I don't get though is that Spearing, L Murphy and Amer Rahman are all completely different types of players to each other, so im not sure what the plan is for our midfield(which is crying out for a midfield leader)

They are all convinced they are fans of Utd, Liverpool or arsenal and it would take more than one lad unless he was the greatest thing, including sliced bread, to persuade them otherwise. I know thousands of the Muslim kids in Blackburn and it wouldn't make a jot of difference to them, I promise.
Reedy You're A Star
I wonder if that means the end of Rochina? Or maybe we've found a sucker, ahem, club, to take Formica?
SoldierMo
Im actually excited about the signing...looks promising and we had the excitement of waiting to see if we have unearthed a gem Adding to that i think the UAE is an untapped upcoming market may even cast sum billionaire arabs eyes on us

Numerous sideways passes, A few forwards passes that either didn't reach the intended player or were very simple to complete, two or three @#/? poor tackles. NEXT!!!!!!! And the only person that would surely have wasted thier time making that montage is his agent! We can and must do better.

magicalmortensleftpeg
Why? From that video, tell me why? Does he look any better than Lowe? Not in my opinion. As you said, sideways passes, a few simple forward passes and some weak tackling. He's streets ahead of Lowe.
chris_h
Why? From that video, tell me why? Does he look any better than Lowe? Not in my opinion. Why have a look at him? I would imagine because an agent has been in contact, someone at the club has done a bit of research and suggested a trial to Gary Bowyer. Bowyer agrees, the player comes over, if he impresses - great, if not he goes home. I cant see anything to get upset about.

I understand that, I wouldn't say I'm upset about it, but I did get annoyed at watching a video that showed absolutely no reason to waste our time. Surely we need to be looking at proper signings now, season is drawing closer and we still need a proper creative midfielder. If there was even something in that video to suggest he could be useful I wouldn't be bothered but for me, there is diddly squat to go on. But, I guess he's getting his trial now anyway. are you serous , lowe has nothing to bring and just isn't good enough, i hate seeing his name on the team sheetPersonally I think he is unjustly treated by our fans, he's nothing more than a "water carrier" as they say but he puts his all in and frankly I think he's pretty solid at what he does.Is he really any worse than some UAE unknown???? Rover_Shaun
Why do people still use youtube to gauge a signing? Youtube never highlighted the fact that Formica is a concrete legged dolloper. blueboy3333
Looks like he plays as a deep-lying playmaker, though he can play further forward according to linked article. He does look a bit tugay-esque as someone pointed out, getting the ball from the defenders and dictating tempo. However, that won't be easy in the hurly-burly of the Championship. Bowyer at least seems to recognise that we need someone in the centre of the park who can retain possession, which we haven't had for years. Real shame we didn't get Murphy. http://www.sport360.com/football/uae-star-abdulrahman-join-blackburn-rovers

Rover_Shaun
What's the worst that can happen? He may even turn out to be ok. He may be a total dolloper. So is it a trial or a loan? But why loan in pre-season when you can trial? And why loan for a whole year when you can do 3 months, 6 months? We hold all the cards.
ada2020
Do we really need another bench warmer? Perhaps we can loan this one out to a Sunday league team next season after he fails I think it's just a trial, no loan.
Rover_Shaun
A trial makes sense. To loan someone from the middle of nowhere is lunacy. I even try ale before I buy a pint

My a*se. And, by the way, I rated Formica quite highly. However, we need a strong grafter in midfield who can tackle properly, pick out team mates with passes (passes that actually go forwards occasionally) and shoot now and again.
