pick32
Numerous sideways passes, A few forwards passes that either didn't reach the intended player or were very simple to complete, two or three @#/? poor tackles. NEXT!!!!!!! And the only person that would surely have wasted thier time making that montage is his agent! We can and must do better. Thought he looked good and wasn't afraid to do the dirty work aswel, plus he won't be playing anywhere near the calibre of opposition he was in that video. SergioPeter89
I asked the assistant manager of Baniyas about him. Here is what he wrote back: "Not surprised that Blackburn is interested. Very expensive, therefore a loan makes sense. Plays best as a defensive midfielder, but prefers to play as a offensive midfielder. Have been performing well at national team, but not that well at club team. Good stamina and ball control. Does not make that good offensive runs and prefers to make it simple regarding passing alternatives. "
blueboy3333
Sensible post. No attempts at shooting whatsoever. Tugayesque? My a*se. And, by the way, I rated Formica quite highly. However, we need a strong grafter in midfield who can tackle properly, pick out team mates with passes (passes that actually go forwards occasionally) and shoot now and again. You should let your ar#e do the talking bazzer. We've got loads of grafters in midfield, what we need is someone who can pass the ball and retain possession. JBiz
Anyone else sick of us being linked with all these players we've never heard of ???? No i'd rather it be only players "you've" heard of. Better send that list to Gary.

If he learns to throw his elbow 10-15 times a game then he's the same player, except this guy sometimes changes direction when he has possession. I wouldn't label him the next Tugay from a YouTube video where he barely crosses the halfway line against a Uruguay team that sits ridiculously deep, but perhaps we should assume that someone at Rovers has seen more than we have rather than writing him off because we've seen a 4 minute video from one match. I didn't expect anything from Steven N'zonzi especially as no one posted a @#/? poor montage of his so called "best games". If the lad turns out to be as good as n'zonzi then I'll hold my hands up and say I was wrong. Happy to let GB review him, doesn't mean much to me either way. However in my opinion he's doesn't look anywhere near good enough. Strikes me as a commercial ploy. Certainly does not deserve a "Tugayesque" label. bluebruce
Ada, I wasn't really impressed with the video either, but there's something you should note. It wasn't a montage of his 'best games'. It was clips from ONE game. Against Uruguay I think someone has said. And it seemed to be a fairly honest 'warts and all' video, as there were a few things in there that were clear mistakes or failures.

Yep, you're right it is one game fair enough Still stand by my original post that he does not show anything in the video to suggest he can make it over here. I just do not see anything in it to get excited about, side ways passes, failed forward passes, bar anything that is just simple and some very, very bad attempts at a tackle. ultrablue
I was at that UAE vs. Uruguay game in the video. It was at Old Trafford directly before Team GB's first game against Senegal. I remember being impressed by the UAE team's workrate and technical ability with the ball. They quite often overdid it though and lost possession before creating anything meaningful. This guy wearing number 5 didn't stand out as anything special. To be honest, everyone on the team looked like they could control the ball and spot a 15 yard pass up to a certain tempo. They got the GB crowd on their side, partially because of their surprising style of play, and partially because Luis Suarez was on the other team. My main concern is that targeting one player and taking him out of that team and trying to plug him into our midfield is something I just don't see working. It's worth giving him a trial just to see if he can use some of his technique when all about him are lacking. But I'm fairly sceptical.
yeti-dog
Thought he looked good and wasn't afraid to do the dirty work aswel, plus he won't be playing anywhere near the calibre of opposition he was in that video. I thought he looked okay too. Clearly comfortable on the ball and that in itself is an improvement on some of the dross we've seen recently..... ben_the_beast
Thought he looked awful. If dictating the play is receiving the ball in a deep position under no pressure then after about 5 minutes rolling it sideways to your mate then I should be having a trial. Martin
The UAE League is very, very poor so I'm certainly not excited by this. That said, I'd love it to work out, but I can't see this guy dictating the play away at Yeovil in December when it's two degrees. This fascination with players that pass the ball 10 yards left and right really annoys me - we need players who are not afraid to pass the ball forward. That's why, despite dividing opinion, Rochina is valuable to us.
Al
Why do people still use youtube to gauge a signing? Youtube never highlighted the fact that Formica is a concrete legged dolloper. Leave youtube for the videos of cats and car crashes Tried to PM you but I couldn't for some reason to apologise for some posts. I have discovered that I was confusing you with Blue n White who I now have on ignore. Sorry mate.

pick32
This transfer has Shebby Singhs fingerprints all over it...... Doubt it I was meant to be having a meeting with him, but after the meeting kept being put back I was told that it was no longer possible to meet with him as he won't be in the country any longer. CapeTownRover
I have no problem with us taking this Amer guy on loan, but surely we could use the likes of Raheem Hanley or Hugo Fernandez? Fernandez has always recveived good reviews from what I've read in the games he has played, and Bowyer would already know what he is about. Maybe its just me that wants Hugo Fernandez in the team, but perhaps Bowyer doesn't think he is ready just yet.
tomphil
Some agent or someone somewhere will be filling their pockets on this one in return for getting Venkys some big publicity in the Arab states. Shades of Bruno on this one possibly ?

I've seen him a few times & am yet to be impressed. Very lightweight & nowhere near ready in my opinion.
JAL
See we have another 'bad un' lined up, all the way form the UEA.What on earth is going on at the club, why cant Rovers attract some decent players, or is it that the agent the club uses doesnt have any decent players or contacts. All these second rate players that Rovers are looking at aint making Gary Bowyer look good.
Wendal
Genuinely don't think this is something Bowyer is pushing, it goes completely against everything he has been doing this summer. This player and the circumstances around it are very similar to the kind of thing that was happening last summer with the portuguese no marks...
