[Archived] possible transfer targets summer 2013

Ebanks Blake & Hunt would command big wages and were awful for Wolves last season. It's no surprise they've been released. Overpaid and with their best years behind them. we've got enough of those types already.

Completely agree. Wolves had similar issues to us last season with too many players without the hunger and desire to get into the PL.

Mcgugan is on a free, his contract ox up but I would imagine his wages will be very high!!

Totally agree with Chaddy on this...I am going to make a suggestion now and Ill grab my tin hat before I do. I feel that sometimes Rhodes limits us as an attacking force. Yes he scores goals but when he doesn't its litterally like playing with 10 men. The rest of his game is pretty abysmal and nothing seems to stick.

I genuinely don't want us to sell him but if we get the right money and GB buys some genuine pace and power up there ill be relatively happy...

There is the question of replacing his 30 goals a season but that is GB's job!!

Rhodes scored 30 goals BUT, and for me it's a big but.. He is most unhelpful at creating chances for others. Could he be replaced by a striker who scores 17 - 20 goals but plays a bigger part in creating opportunities for others? Strikers are required to do much more than just score goals nowadays, particularly with the lone striker role becoming more prominent.

Rhodes is a great weapon to have, but I often think he would be much more useful as a last 25mins grab you a goal type. He has disappeared from too many games this season, not at all his fault due to poor service etc. But sometimes when you are under the cosh you do need a striker to run channels/ win the headers etc to take the pressure off. He can't do that.

Would Danny Graham be a good option? Not sure if Di Canio will use him.\

He's also just a finisher like Rhodes, Le Fondre etc. There's a reason Swansea got rid and there's a reason Di Canio probably will as well.

I know we're in the division below but my point is we need a striker who's gonna contribute in open play.

Possibly leaving:

I read in newspaper "O Jogo" today that Benfica want to keep Diogo Rosado, if the transfer fee is not big. He impressed the manager while he was playing for the B team. The same article claims Lazio is interested in him...

Is he better than Dann?

dont want to see goodwillie leave. he will score if chances are given.

He certainly hasnt impressed much, but Goodwillie has to be a head in the pecking order of the way past his sell by date Nuno Gomes surely.

Titus Bramble's contract will expire this month? What about move for him?

Bramble is the MOTD opposite of Pedersen. As armchair fans saw Pedersen score the occasional screamer and think he was class, so too would Bramble's blunders belie his overall ability. He has played at the top level for some time given he's supposedly one of the worst defenders in history.

That's me being as objective as possible. I'd probably drink bleach if he joined.

west ham making big bids for strikers, hope they don`t target rhodes as they have more than enough to get him.

What I don't understand is where this 'big' money is coming from. Gold and Sullivan come out and plead poverty every chance they get, complaining that they're pouring their life-savings etc into the running of the club and have nothing left... but apparently £15M for one player is within their reach? Something doesn't quite add up there. Either G&S have more money than they're letting on (entirely possible) or the money is being loaned from a bank.
