JonnyBRFC Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 There could be something in the agent fee thing, why would GB publicly announce that we are dropping interest in Bannan? What other cm's could we realistic bring in? I think Real Madrid are little busy with the Bale saga to let go Xabi Alonso?

Guest Norbert Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 We've seemingly improved other positions, except for left back and central midfield the two positions we have really needed to sort out for a year. I guess we'd have more freedom to move if the puddings and has beens got some dignity and left to actually play some games. Bannan may have been easier to hire if Givet, Formica and Robinson were off the wage bill for example.
Gav Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Well, we cant buy expensive players anymore and we have to control our wages (reason why we missed out on highly rated murphy from Crewe to Leeds). However signing player of the year from League 1 and one of Millwalls best performers on free transfers is good business IMO. I think some of us are behaving a little bit spoiled. That's bunkum Alexander's, it's not unrealistic to expect a bit of experience and quality to be added to the squad even with no money for transfer fees. Whilst I hope Judge does well, early indications are he's out of his depth, no final ball and goes missing, but we live in hope.

And we have. Kilgallon, DJ and Kane ? About the greedy agent fee thing concering Bannan. Its not hard to find out who planted the story that Bannan could be on his way to Blackpool. Happy that we refuse to bend over and can still see Bannan being ours, but it will take some patience. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2271803/David-Sullivan-bullying-threats-violence-agent-demands-transfer-window.html Interesting article about agent demands.. ---------------------------- http://www.sport360.com/football/abdulrahman-enjoying-life-blackburn-while-it-lasts Abdulrahman enjoying life at Rovers
rog of the rovers Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I think every Championship side has made odd signings this summer, no team really stands out from the crowd in my opinion. Barnsley Best Buy - Dale Jennings Odd Choice - Jean M'Voto Who? - John Cofie Birmingham BB - Shane Ferguson (loan) OC - Lee Novak Who? - Dan Burn (loan) Blackburn BB - Todd Kane OC - Alex Marrow Who? - Simon Eastwood Blackpool BB - Steven Davies OC - Bobby Grant Who? - Gary MacKenzie Bolton BB - Alex Baptiste OC - Jermaine Beckford Who? - Hayden White Bournemouth BB - Ian Harte OC - Elliot Ward Who? - Mohamed Coulibaly Brighton BB - Matthew Upson OC - n/a Who? - Rohan Ince Burnley BB - Tom Heaton OC - n/a Who? - Every other signing Charlton BB - Mark Gower OC - n/a Who? - Richard Wood Derby BB - Johnny Russell OC - Lee Grant Who? - Craig Forsyth Doncaster BB - Harry Forrester OC - n/a Who? - Every other signing Huddersfield BB - James Vaughan OC - Jon Stead Who? - Jake Carroll Ipswich BB - Jay Tabb OC - Christophe Berra Who? - Jack Doherty Leeds BB - Luke Murphy OC - n/a Who? - n/a Leicester BB - n/a OC - n/a Who? - Zoumana Bagayoko MIddlesbrough BB - Dean Whitehead OC - n/a Who? - Josef Varga Millwall BB - Steve Morison OC - Richard Chaplow Who? - n/a Nottingham Forest BB - Jamie Mackie OC - n/a Who? - Djamel Abdoun QPR BB - Karl Henry OC - Richard Dunne Who? - n/a Reading BB - Royston Drenthe OC - n/a Who? - Danny Williams Sheffield Weds BB - Jacques Maghoma OC - n/a Who? - Atdhe Nuhiu Watford BB - Almen Abdi OC - Uche Ikpeazu Who? - Ikechi Anya Wigan BB - Grant Holt OC - Chris McCann Who? - Juan Carlos Garcia Yeovil BB - Alan Tate OC - n/a Who? - Every other transfer
JAL Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Who are the new names to be discussed come tomorrow and the day after ?
RevidgeBlue Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Can't blame the club if a players agent makes outrageous demands. Quite rightly Rovers refusing to do a deal on those terms. Do we know how exactly how outrageous? Not really surprised this has fallen through. It seems to have been dragging on interminably and deals like that rarely happen. I can't actually believe all 3 of our senior midfielders, (Williamson, Dunn and Etuhu) are all injured and unavailable for selection BEFORE a ball is even kicked in anger. What a set of crocks. Perhaps we should draft Shebby in until the end of the transfer window to persuade the owners to spend 8m on a midfielder?
Mercer Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Not quite as simple as that, players have contracts with agents and can't just tell them to stuff it etc. I agree it would be better though Can be - much depends on the nous, inclination and drive of the player. Have seen an agent's contract legally challenged and torn to shreds.
Majiball Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Can be - much depends on the nous, inclination and drive of the player. Have seen an agent's contract legally challenged and torn to shreds. Players do something for themselves and take control? No chance in the main.
Mercer Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Players do something for themselves and take control? No chance in the main. Agree and I think it's exploitation. IMO, if Bannan really wanted to come to Rovers, he would consult a commercial lawyer and any half decent one would probably end-up making Bannan more money at the expense of his agent!
AJW Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 so a player not rated by his own fans , with a history of "living it up" has a greedy agent demanding too much ...... why are still interested ?
alexanders Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 so a player not rated by his own fans , with a history of "living it up" has a greedy agent demanding too much ...... why are still interested ? Dont think we are or we certainly dont want to pay over the odds.
Jamesw1982 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Heard another cm name today but worried if we talk about it the LET will run the story. Same guy who told me about rowe has now told me of a striker also could be a busy few days for us
EgyptianPete Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Players do something for themselves and take control? No chance in the main. Right for me GB should tell Givet he is playing on Sunday, as he is recognized in that position LB, if he says my head isn't right blah blah, then bloody well sack him or don't pay his wages, sick of this nonsense.
Gav Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 All this talk of agents is a smokescreen, if the player wants to come he’ll instruct his agent to sign the deal, the agent works for the player, simple as that. The real reason he isn’t signing will centre around the amateurish way the club conducts its business these days, nothing more nothing less IMO.
Rover_Shaun Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Going off our clubs love of big fat agents fees maybe the problem was the agent's fee was too small and brought on some venky suspicion?
alexanders Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Did you read the article I posted GAV ? Agents are like Scavengers. We should know that by now.
Majiball Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Agree and I think it's exploitation. IMO, if Bannan really wanted to come to Rovers, he would consult a commercial lawyer and any half decent one would probably end-up making Bannan more money at the expense of his agent! But they don't know what to do when something presents itself that they don't understand. For example I was told a player couldn't sleep recently it was too hot and he didn't have a scooby what to do. I suggested going to argos and buying a cheap air-con unit. His response that's a great idea, why didn't I think of that. They seem content to just let troubles get in the way of things IMO and when presented with a problem, they require help to solve it unless they've experienced it before. Even then they most likely just phone the man who resolved the issue last time. I've even known a player come in one day saying he had no electircity at home. After much discussion it was ascertained that he'd moved in and not arranged anything with the provider and after a quickie court case had had a meter installed and consequently it ran out. It's a serious failing in how we raise our young footballers over here. Even at rovers we employ a man to sort there lives out for them or at least did in the prem. It's little wonder they depend on and get raped by agents.

The LET story this morning was lifted straight from here.
alexanders Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 We are broke and want to pay the agents fee which is quite big. Dont have a problem with that. As I wrote not a conincidence that Bannan is suddenly linked to another club today.

Majiball Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Right for me GB should tell Givet he is playing on Sunday, as he is recognized in that position LB, if he says my head isn't right blah blah, then bloody well sack him or don't pay his wages, sick of this nonsense. I'm not sure the approach would work on Givet but I agree he should be persuaded to play. Easily in our top 3 players and desperatly needed 100% if promotion is the aim.

As I wrote not a conincidence that Bannan is suddenly linked to another club today. Any agent dealing with Rovers is going to try their luck and ask for a big fee given how amateurish our management are. I can't see Blackpool or anyone else in the championship (except QPR) coming up with any more cash.
Mercer Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Heard another cm name today but worried if we talk about it the LET will run the story. Same guy who told me about rowe has now told me of a striker also could be a busy few days for us Big problem building here in that we aren't shifting enough out. I think there are targets to be achieved by end of August in terms of surplus transfer trading and reduction in wages. As things stand, there is only one way this can be addressed and I think most know, and dread, the solution.

Why I wrote earlier that I can still see the Bannan deal happening, but we need to be patient about it. Its not like he is wanted by VIlla or anyone else.
