xtp Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 It's not FFP till next year and that's probably going to be kicked out by European court. Football league has separate rules which means overspending clubs have to give money to others if they get promoted Aye. We can only have an £8 million pound loss (assuming Venky's immediately cover that loss, and if not, we can only make a £3 million loss). Then we either receive a transfer ban if we're still in the Championship - a fairly likely possibility - or a fine if we get promoted. No one knows how big the fine is likely to be. The authorities may well decide to make an example of us.
The Rover of Finland Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Rovers won´t be alone with FFP problems. Nice to see Venky´s being aware of FFP better than relegation possibility.
Batman. Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 He has a valid point. Do share your views on Rovers constantly signing players without getting rid of any? That wasn't his point at all. His point was that we have 19 midfielders, and therefore don't need any more. He then separately made the point that we cannot even give away our dead wood. Quite contradictory really, as his last sentence suggests that his first one is a load of crap. Only a handful of those midfielders are good enough, so quality additions are still needed in that area, regardless of whether or not we can get rid of some of the awful players that we have in that position. If that means very cheap loans, then so-be-it. Now, do try harder next time.
Al Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 We don't need anymore Keaning midfielders! What we need is to trim the wage bill. How many times do people need to say FFP! FFP! FFP! before people realise we can't keep signing people till we ship others out. Even if we could sign more players we probably need a number 10 to cover for Rochina more than ANOTHER tackling midfielder. Quantity is no substitute for quality. When we are starting with the likes of Marrow we need better midfielders not keaning ones.
Cowan Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Just looking at our squad..we really need to cut back! Hope some dead wood is shifted out by the end of the window.
RockinRover Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Quantity is no substitute for quality. When we are starting with the likes of Marrow we need better midfielders not keaning ones. Which is why we got Cairney and Evans in? The last thing we need is another tackling midfielder when we have Evans, Lowe, Marrow, O'Sullivan all in that role. What we're lacking in is creativity.

My point is that if we are STARTING with Morrow and Lowe there is something wrong with the quality of midfielders we have. If Cairney and Evans are so much better then fine but neither of them started against Derby.

This lad sounds the business, a great range of passes and bags of energy to boot, sounds like he will be a lot better than most of the above. Well at least 2 of the above, even given his youth.

If Cairney and Evans are so much better then fine but neither of them started against Derby. Because they had signed on Thursday/Friday, Cairney returning from injury and Evans himself, injured. I think we were set up well the first 30 minutes of the game, Lowe and Marrow defensive whilst Ruben offered an outlet.
RockinRover Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 As Jonny said, Lowe and Marrow actually work with a creative midfielder infront of them. This guy despite what everyone is saying is another unknown much like Lowe and Marrow and who's to say he's not just as bad?

Bryan Flynn seems to rate him very highly, whilst the only praise from Gary Bowyer for Lowe is about his energy, as he knows he can't pass or tackle very well.

True, but didnt you see what that energy bought to the team on Sunday? We closed better with Lowe and Marrow on the pitch than anytime in the last two+ years. Sure, he cant tackle "very well" or pass "very well" I agree, but he can do both within a limited capacity, so long as he's not there to thump 70 yard defence splitting passes then he absolutely did his job on Sunday. How else do people think we retained possesion so well on Sunday. I think Lowe is unfairly critisiced, he does what the manager asks him to do for the team. I do think it fell apart a little though after the Ruben injury and Best coming on, clearly 4-4-2 with Marrow and Lowe in the middle will not work, prior to that though it worked very will with them holding and harrying the opposition.

Therefore we would be better with someone who has similar energy levels to Lowe, but who can tackle and pass better than him. Sounds like the Everton lad.
West Yorks Rover Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Hopefully the 2 Hull boys will be able to do that Should be an improvement.
MAppleton Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 We obviously need another striker loaned in, King is pure @#/? that we can't rely on as backup to Best and Rhodes..
SoldierMo Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Unleaded what happend to the Everton lad you said we signed??
Mercer Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Based on last night, Rovers should be all over Beck. This is a lad with amazing potential who I think will go to the very, very top. Yes he might still be a tad raw but by training with better players, he should come on in leaps and bounds. Add his physical stature and you will have one awesome striker.
SoldierMo Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 He did sound good yesterday but is that because he was or is it because the greedy givet was thinking about his £££s
neophox Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 John Lundstram only 19 years old. Can he make an impact in Championship? Based on last night, Rovers should be all over Beck. This is a lad with amazing potential who I think will go to the very, very top. Yes he might still be a tad raw but by training with better players, he should come on in leaps and bounds. Only thought that Cairney and Lowe looked descent and Taylor showed glimpses...
neophox Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2013/08/08/stubbs-satisfied-after-betis-b-draw Praise for John Lundstram after yesterdays game.

That Beck did look impressive i'm sure we know all about him with our coach's link to the them. Would have him watched over future match's tho as Givet was terrible last night.
