Mani Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Ok so call me ultra cynical but O'connells contract also ticks over into into its last year this month so I'm almost certain this is a ploy released by his agent to get him a lucrative new contract!!

chaddyrovers Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Your right chaddy cant argue with that. But the first team have to win, win, win for promotion. So is it fair to throw them in to the first team when the expectations would exceed their current capabilities. If the Academy players are good enough then they will play. Simple as. If they not good enough then they wont play. but we need to bring through Academy players with the FLFFP coming in shortly
Majiball Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 McGugan and El Abd are both out of contract this summer, so we don't know where they will end up signing for, hope we are talking to their agents about coming to Rovers. But I'm not saying we will defo sign them tho. Majiball, you don't know who they are signing for, so acting like you do know. Lets see how the summer transfer window goes for us. Think so far we have signed 2 good players in Judge and Taylor. I'll take that as a no then Chaddy. No I may not know where they will end up but I do know who's after one or two of your repeated daily players. Premier league or circus, tricky choice. If the Academy players are good enough then they will play. Simple as. If they not good enough then they wont play. but we need to bring through Academy players with the FLFFP coming in shortly Have you ever heard of the masters of the universe? Well you've just become master of the obvious, practice leads to improvement. I'm laughing my arse off since you've said I should stop acting like I know where they are going and yet I have only said they won't be coming here. Stop acting like you know who will and won't make the grade at Rovers chaddy as you haven't a Scooby. Since the master of the obvious has said practice leads to improvement here's another one for you. Practice what you preach you hypocrite. See you later chadders, hopefully today you can manage to post something new as opposed to the same three players every day.
duffbear Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 lol i'd love to see his wage demands, they don't call him Lucash for nothing That is not a problem we like paying silly wages for people his age, see Danny Murphy. In Venkys we trust
Torgeir Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Considering his age and that he played for Sydney recently I can't imagine that his wage demands would be too over the top.
LeChuck Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Neill has obviously been chasing the money for a few years now. Look at his 3 most recent clubs. He's not going to come in with the desire and hunger that the squad requires. Plus I never thought he was very good at centre back and we don't need a 35 year old right back.
Guest Norbert Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Neill is too old, to money orientated and would be another Murphy.
EPF Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Sure we could pick up some decent players from this list Arsenal Arshavin, Andrey Bihmoutine, Samir Charles-Cook, Reice Jordan Denilson Eastmond, Craig Leon Hajrovic, Sead Henderson, Conor Alan Meade, Jernade Ronnel Oldfield, Spence-Neita Nigel Paul Rees, Joshua David Roberts, Philip James Shea, James Squillaci, Sebastien Watt, Herschel Oulio Sanchez Aston Villa Barrett, Calum Alastair Barton, Joshua Cameron, Courtney Lee Devine, Daniel Patrick Lichaj, Eric Joseph Marshall, Andrew John Chelsea Affane, Amin Benayoun, Yossi Deen-Conteh, Abdul Aziz Ferreira, Paulo Renato Rebocho Hilario, Meireles Alves Sampaio Henrique Malouda, Florent Johan Nkumu, Archange Turnbull, Ross Everton Hammar, Per Johan Gustav Hitzlsperger, Thomas Kelly, Sam Alexander Mucha, Jan Neville, Phil Fulham Baird, Christopher Davies, Simon Diarra, Mahamadou Donegan, Thomas David Gameiro, Corey James Karagkounis, Georgios Musa, James Mzamo Peniket, Richard James Petric, Mladen Schwarzer, Mark Smith, Alex Somogyi, Csaba Liverpool Belford, Tyrell Carragher, James Lee Stephens, James Edward Wilson, Daniel Manchester City Bridge, Wayne Mancini, Filippo McGivern, Ryan Santa Cruz, Roque Luis Toure, Kolo Manchester United Brown, Reece Cofie, John Erzuah Fornasier, Michele Giverin, Luke Hendrie, Luke John McCullough, Luke Scholes, Paul Van Velzen, Gyliano Veseli, Frederic Newcastle United Harper, Stephen Alan Moyo, Yven Rochild Victor Simpson, Daniel Peter Norwich City Adeyemi, Thomas Oluseun Camp, Lee Durojaiye, Olumide Scott Francomb, George Jackson, Simeon Alexander Martin, Christopher Hugh Sheriff, Ramil Smith, Korey Alexander Tierney, Marc Peter Ward, Elliott Leslie Queens Park Rangers Ben Haim, Tal Campbell, Dudley Junior Cerny, Radek Champion, Frederick Francis, Adam Royston Lawrence Hewitt, Troy Roger Hulse, Robert Nelsen, Ryan Parmenter, Taylor Louis Trani, Tommaso Reading Bignall, Nicholas Colin Church, Simon Richard Harte, Ian Hunt, Noel Losasso, Charlie Carrington MacDonald, Angus Lees Pearce, Alexander James Shorey, Nicholas Tabb, Jay Anthony Webb, Joshua Richard Charles Darren Morgan Williams, Brett Anthony Southampton Butterfield, Daniel Paul Dickson, Ryan Anthony Forecast, Tommy Stephen Hoskins, Samuel Tobias Reeves, Benjamin Neil Richardson, Frazer Seaborne, Daniel Anthony Seidi, Alberto Adulai Stoke City Clarkson, Michael Thomas Delap, Rory Gledhill, Matthew Benjamin Hall, Jadan Lund, Matthew Charles Musungu, Andrew Nash, Carlo James Owen, Michael James Pennant, Jermaine Lloyd Rigg, George Benjamin Sidibe, Mamady Upson, Matthew James Whitehead, Dean Sunderland Bramble, Titus Callaghan, Anthony Joyce, Wade Lewis Kilgallon, Matthew Noble, Ryan Reed, Adam Michael Wilson, Ben Swansea City Gower, Mark Tottenham Hotspur Barthram, Jack Patrick Bentley, David Bostock, John Gallas, William Munns, Jack Frederick Nicholson, Jake Charlie West Bromwich Albion Fortune, Marc-Antoine Gera, Zoltan Jara Reyes, Gonzalo Alejandro Sawyers, Romaine Theodore Thomas, Jerome West Ham United Cole, Carlton Larkins, Jake O'Neil, Gary Paul Powell, Jack Patrick Rafati, Jami Wearen, Eoin Patrick Wigan Athletic Aylmer, Peter Crusat Domene, Albert Di Santo, Franco Jones, David Frank Llwyd Lopez Rodriguez, Adrian Lynch, Jonathan Paul Morris, Callum Neil Orsula, Filip Stam, Ronnie Sumner, Joshua Andre Watson, Ryan Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2337461/Premier-League-released-players-list-Filippo-Mancini-released-Manchester-City-Tottenham-release-William-Gallas-David-Bentley.html#ixzz2VzaNWEVa Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook
Guest Norbert Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Bostock may be interesting. He was the next big thing whilst at Palace (like Zaha), but fell under the curse of Spurs.
Ricky Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Bostock was also the one who sprung out to me. Also Hulse could be worth a shot if we lose a forward.
AJW Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Scott Dann's found his level , is what i meant by solid championship player , I'm no Dann Fan but to contemplate replacing him with Lucas Neill is quite frankly laughable
RockinRover Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Out of that list I'd be looking at these. Some of them would require high wages, but some of them are proven Championship quality players. Sebastien Squillaci (Arsenal) Sanchez Watt (Arsenal) Eric Lichaj (Aston Villa) Yossi Benayoun (Chelsea) Thomas Hitzlsperger (Everton) Chris Baird (Fulham) Simon Davies (Fulham) Mahamadou Diarra (Fulham) Daniel Wilson (Liverpool) Roque Santa Cruz (Manchester City) Danny Simpson (Newcastle United) Robert Hulse (Queens Park Rangers) Nicky Shorey (Reading) Rory Delap (Stoke) Jermaine Pennant (Stoke) Matthew Upson (Stoke) Dean Whitehead (Stoke) Titus Bramble (Sunderland) Matthew Kilgallon (Sunderland) David Bentley (Spurs) John Bostock (Spurs) Marc-Antoine Fortune (West Brom) Zoltan Gera (West Brom) Jerome Thomas (West Brom) Carlton Cole (West Ham) Gary O'Neil (West Ham) Albert Crusat (Wigan) Franco Di Santo (Wigan) David Jones (Wigan)
LeChuck Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Surely Bentley has already shown that he has nothing to offer us? As do most on that list to be honest. Two I would have liked (Tierney and Gower) have already moved to other Championship clubs.
BigBar Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Chris Baird and Shorey to start wit, then ship out some deadwood and have a look at a tidy midfielder player like Gary o Neill and Jerome Thomas on the wing...Thomas might be out now we signed Taylor and Judge, be happy with the other 3 though...
john.leigh Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Not advocating Neill at all, but as Australia now look odds on to qualify for Brazil, Lucas will play wherever gives him the best preparation for the finals. I really do think that his choice of next club will finally be for footballing (and not financial) reasons.
LeChuck Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Chris Baird and Shorey to start wit, then ship out some deadwood and have a look at a tidy midfielder player like Gary o Neill and Jerome Thomas on the wing...Thomas might be out now we signed Taylor and Judge, be happy with the other 3 though... That's four ex-PL players the wrong side of 30. We've got enough of those as it is. Either younger players dropping out of the PL with a point to prove, or players from the lower leagues desperate to get promotion.
JAL Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 If the Academy players are good enough then they will play. Simple as. If they not good enough then they wont play. but we need to bring through Academy players with the FLFFP coming in shortly Then that would probably tells us all what we need to know about the elder ones who never played for the first team last season with the exception of the lad who made his debut at Brum. Chaddy drop this financial fair play nonsense as its not an excuse to keep falling back on for the club and the owners.

Boys this is just lazy guess work! We didn't have the budget to pay Baptistes wages so why would we pay any of the above?? More to the point why would we want to take fame fattened PL has beens and expect them to perform? Last season tells us that this is definately not the way to go to be successful and it is not financially astute or sustainable! Young hungry talented players who are likely to gain value on low wages mixed with the odd experienced head...surely the best direction to go??
BigBar Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 That's four ex-PL players the wrong side of 30. We've got enough of those as it is. Either younger players dropping out of the PL with a point to prove, or players from the lower leagues desperate to get promotion. Not all ex PL players are bad eggs look how effective Mersons, Bellamys, Phillps have been for non PL teams...crazy to tar all ex PL players with the Murphy brush! your really clutching for criticism, Thomas and O neil literally just turned 30 in March and last month respectively. Would it be ok if we signed them when they were 29 last feb...crazy statement in my book...
neophox Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Gary O'Neill and Thomas Hitzsperger would be good for us and also Jerome Thomas. I would also like to see Dwight Gayle from Peterborough, the lad can score goals in championship in a poor team.
Ray-Von Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Is the Wilson player released from Liverpool the Ex-Rangers player? I seem to recall him being a hot prospect a few years back.
LeChuck Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Not all ex PL players are bad eggs look how effective Mersons, Bellamys, Phillps have been for non PL teams...crazy to tar all ex PL players with the Murphy brush! your really clutching for criticism, Thomas and O neil literally just turned 30 in March and last month respectively. Would it be ok if we signed them when they were 29 last feb...crazy statement in my book... I wasn't saying they had bad attitudes like Murphy. But it's been proven time and again that signing a cluster of ex-PL players isn't the way to go. Of course the odd experienced head can really lift a team. But Philips and Bellamy were exceptions in their squads, and both are exceptional pros. O'Neil has been in this league for a while and not really done much. Plus he has injury worries. Jerome Thomas has always had motivation issues and completely relies on pace - when that's gone so is he. Shorey and Baird seem like solid pros but they wouldn't be cheap. We could make a case for Shorey if Olsson left but we can't justify paying big wages to two left backs. It's more to do with the balance of personalities in the squad. We're already heavy on experienced ex-PL players in Robinson, Dann, Givet, Murphy, Etuhu, Pedersen, Dunn etc. It's not healthy to add to that unless it is an exceptional player like Philips and Bellamy that inspire people around them. It's no coincidence that our most impressive performers last year were the likes of Rhodes, Hanley, Williamson etc. They've got something to prove.
Ricky Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Yep Ray it's the same Danny Wilson. Young CB with international experience. Reckon he'll move back to Scotland but could be worth a shout.
RockinRover Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 So basically just anyone who's ever stepped a toe out in the PL then?? Boys this is just lazy guess work! Young hungry talented players who are likely to gain value on low wages mixed with the odd experienced head...surely the best direction to go?? I'm not saying we should sign them. I'm saying we should look at them. Young and hungry you say? So how about youngsters with a point to prove like Watt and Wilson? Both highly rated but didn't make it in the big sides. They could however make it down here. Then you have good experienced hard working British players like Baird, Davies, Hulse, Shorey and more. Like someone said above we can't just rule out experience Premiership players just because Murphy and Etuhu proved a bit rubbish. We have to look at the attitude they've shown wherever they've played as well.
