[Archived] possible transfer targets summer 2013

I'm not sure Liam Lawrence would be (happy)classed as a "utility player", I think he'd pretty much expect a key 1st team role if he came,

So I'm pretty sure its likely to be Gallagher after reading Bowyers description, if so its pretty underwhelming(just seems like a kind of nepotism)

sorry, scratch that, i'm pretty sure Gallagher is currently out of contract and unattached to any club!

NO! I think I'm wrong again(again!) he is under contract at Leicester still, just surplus to requirements though.

Apparently Lee Cattermole is set to be released from Sunderland. Although his disciplinary record isn't the best I'd love him here, would definitely get stuck in and do a job in the middle.

Yep, me too. Good player with plenty of aggression. We're not going to get out of this league playing pretty football.

After that in the telegraph my first thought is Gallagher, rovers fan and would work hard and has a good final ball.

good suggestion

Wouldn't surprise me, in the dressing room at the legends game he was saying how much that he would love to come back here.

yep he did.

Gallagher is too similar to Rochina too. Unless he's off.

Gallagher is winger/wide midfielder and can play just off the striker and very hard worker player.

Rochina is a Luxury player who needs to play in the number 10 role. not a winger.

so don't see how they are similar.

Plus Rochina said he will be staying at Rovers as Salgado posted on twitter this week

Anthony Pilkington :-)

would be good signing but doubt he going leave Norwich unless we can get him as part of Olsson to Norwich deal.

But another former player who was at Rovers academy

Please bring back the transfer forum...

there you are.

It's not Vaughan he's on his honeymoon in BoraBora!!

Absolutely nothing wrong with the signings so far!! The people who question them are just being lazy PL-ites who don't know a player so assume they ain't upto it!!

If any one of you has watched Judge or Taylor play in the last 12 months and has a valid point then ill take it...if not then you need to relax and stop mulling over washed up premier league has beens!!

well in the Lancashire telegraph it said the player is on holiday but the clubs have struck a deal so I wouldn't rule out Vaughan

Gallagher has been criticised by many Leicester fans for not putting in the yards which is why he hasn't been a regular fixture. Capable of winning games on his own when he's on song though and focused.

You wouldn't be able to have Gallagher and Rochina in the same side put it that way. All IMO of course.

I've been told by lads who know Gallagher he has badly fallen out with the management at Leicester.

Yes he's defo had - massive fallout with Pearson, I heard it come from his own mouth, as he goes down to passerinis barbers in bburn now and again and I saw him in there early last season, in fact it was just after we had beat Leicester 2-1.

And low and behold 2 weeks later he was loaned out.

Looks like its Gallagher then, especially as he is on holiday in Florida

Not a terrible player by any means but possibly slightly worrying in the fact it may show a limited scope for scouting (if we are going down that route I'd rather we took a chance on Linganzi again!)

I hope it's not him as he's not what we need IMO and is yet another returnee and about our 10th second striker. I can't help but draw parallels with Steve Eyre at Rochdale and his influx of ex man city youth players when he got the job there. Duff would be great but with 35 starts last for Fulham I can't see why they'd move him on. I wonder if Kean could have a word with his mates at Fulham for us?? lol.

I thought Gallagher had been released by Leicester following a loan last year at Sheffield United (League One)?

I don't know why there seems to be a view from within the club that any old former Rover will lift the fans, let alone help steady the ship.

Also, with such little movement of players out (a necessary) evil, I'm scared that we are going to see the back of Rhodes and be told that we've swapped him for five versatile players.

Without Rhodes, would GB have kept us up last season? We may be about to find out.

How is Gally a 'Utility' player? He plays along the frontline. Does this make Messi a 'Utility' player? Or Ronaldo? And just because Bowyer says the fans cam 'identify with him' doesn't mean he has any connection with the club. It might mean the fans will recognise he works hard. GB has mentioned a few times he wants hard-working players who the fans will take to, as opposed to some of the lazy-arses who have played for the club recently.

Having said all that i'd now expect Gally to sign within the hour.

Anyway, Utility players:- http://backofthenet.wikia.com/wiki/Utility_Players

If it is Gally then I wouldn't term it any old Rover but the rovers who where highly thought of in the then youth department returning
