Some fair points.

However, supporters of the last 20 years or so wont recall the darker days of the previous 25 to 30 years. Unfortunately, I do and what we are doing now has a familiar ring to it. I desperately hope that I am wrong - they were very hard times, however, unlike now, there was a real togetherness about those associated with Rovers.

In the dark days, ALL the players we signed were from the lower reaches; some were poor and some were Tony Field, Andy Crawford, Sir Roger Jones, Graham Hawkins et al. The key factor was not where we were shopping but who was doing the buying.

i reckon the signing could be steven ward of wolves..

edit- just noticed someone else has mentioned him, i agree. bit of a `brett emerton` by the sounds, can play left back or left wing..

Fair enough. If it wasn't for wanting to move north I'd agree it was ridiculous.

But if we were the only northern club to put a decent offer to him then who knows? It depends on how badly he does want to be closer to his family.

There may be interest in him already and he could be doing a Robbie Savage to push through a move. It wouldn't be the first time that he's tried to quit Norwich.

That's true and the Savage thing did occur to me. Can agree with the reasons you've put forward for why it might be feasible.

I guess what I found objectionable was people rejecting it because of his perceived similarity Rhodes. Personally, I'd have two Jordan Rhodes in my side all day long.

Even in that sense, I think it's wrong. Holt scores through strength and power, while Rhodes CAN but plays a more technical game to score goals. I think they could quite easily play alongside each other tbh.

Aren't we always?

from what i`ve seen of both players, holt and rhodes differ in style. one is a physical type(holt), while the other plays with guile(rhodes). imo they could partner up, but i can`t see us signing a player on premier league wages again now, unless we get back into the league..

No he meant aswell as dunny

cheers, i`ll keep my eye on things then..

As a person who has suffered from the same illness I find your comment distasteful in the extreme. Think before you post what you think are funny comments about other person's disabilities. You might get it yourself one day, and I can assure you you will not be laughing then.

Anyone else heard that the utility man is James perch from Newcastle. If so I think it's a shrewd signing.

I thought he was one for the future when I saw him starting out at Notts Forest. He seems to have gone backwards at Newcastle. Versatile player who can play fullback, centre back and centre midfield.

I don't think he meant it in a nasty way, sure it is a insensitive comment but it was said in jest. I'm sure Darren Fletcher would have had his fair share of jokes about it and he takes it on the chin, like most people would.

Paul Gallagher? The definitive sign that our new rookie manager has as much idea as the last 3?

If Bowyer wants to move to more of a 4-3-3 formation that he tried last season then Gallagher gives us more options than our other squad strikers. He can play on the flanks or in a more attacking midfield/second striker role. Rochina gives us this too (probably why Bowyer wants him) but Goodwillie and Gomes are pretty much locked into a single position.

Obviously it only makes sense if one of the other squad members leaves, but I can definitely see the benefit of getting him in and shipping Gomes/Goodwillie out. He's been roughly a 1 in 4 scorer at this level, far better than Goodwillie has managed and Gomes is over the hill now.

He would give Bowyer more flexibility to change shape with having Gallagher on the bench. We didn't have this last season at all.

  • Leicester defender Wes Morgan, 29, could return to Nottingham Forest in a £1.5m deal.

Surely we should be all over that? He's got to be one of the divisions best CBs, why would Leicester be willing to let him go?

It does come from The Sun but still.
