chaddyrovers Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Surely we need to start selling before we bring more players in? We must have 30+ professionals in the 1st team squad. I reckon Bowyer and Rovers will be telling the players who they want to sell or get rid off when the players are back for pre-season training on Thursday. Players that I would get rid are:- Orr, Formica, Murphy, Gomes, Goodwillie, Bruno, Givet, Rosado, Henrique, Jorge, Edhino, Slew, Pedersen, Usai. Martin Olsson and Givet to ask to leave aswell.
Mani Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Who was it who said Huddersfield would splash some cash this summer? Was it Merc, if so he's got that right. Just signed Martin Patterson from Burnley, to add to the signings of Hammil and Stead. That would be me!! Offered O'grady 15k per week!! Surely we need to start selling before we bring more players in? We must have 30+ professionals in the 1st team squad. The club can't win here...if we were losing players with no sign of buying there'd be people screaming from the roof tops! I for one would prefer that we get all if not most of our business done for start of pre-season and then start looking to get rid..

Bar Formica and Goodwillie, plus Givet who should be kept, none of them will have interested suitors.
roversfan99 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 You'd think Pedersen would have gone last summer if there was any potential buyers.
Gally Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 You'd think Pedersen would have gone last summer if there was any potential buyers. Didn't he come out pretty early saying that he wanted to stay?
G Somerset Rover Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Can't blame him for not wanting to give up a £40k+ p/w deal! We'd likely have to give him a golden handshake if he did leave.
chaddyrovers Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Bar Formica and Goodwillie, plus Givet who should be kept, none of them will have interested suitors. Formica, Goodwillie and Givet have clubs interest in them. Orr will find a championship club interest in him like Doncaster Rovers or Huddersfield town. Henrique has a loan deal set up with a club from Portugal. source is yesterday LT. Rosado will probably sign Sporting Lisbon. Gomes and Bruno I would pay off. this tweet from UEFA agent on twitter. hope this does happen. don't know if this account is proper agent or just rubbish but I thought I will post it on here. not saying its true btw UEFA Agent @AgentUEFA 21h Stoke are looking at Danny Murphy #SCFC #rovers Edinho and Jorge are young enough to find a club. both are 18 years old aren't they? so some clubs will be defo be interest in them. A very long summer yet, still 69 days or so till transfer deadline day on Monday 2nd of September

I was under the impression Givet was out of contract this summer or was he given a extension no one knew about like Robinson?? I'd also try and shift Etuhu and Best tbh, how Ribero landed a three year 12.5k pw deal is astonishing
davulsukur Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Come on Chaddy, you must surely know by now that anyone with a twitter name like Uefa Agent is going to be spouting Bullplop.
roversfan99 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 No point paying off Gomes, if no one will take him he can be an impact sub in a long season.
donnermeat Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Don't think you can pay someone off without them agreeing to it also. Though I think Bruno would definitely agree to it.
roversfan99 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 You can, if you pay off the full amount they would receive in their contract I believe. Which would be stupid to be honest, especially people like Etuhu and Murphy, you may as well pay them monthly or whatever and keep them as back up rather than fork out millions in one installments. I doubt Bruno would forego a pay off, he will never get a similar deal again.
roverthepond Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Can't see Stoke being interested in Murphy, although I know that they aren't happy with Brek Shea who's a guy with potential and speed as a winger. Struggled in the premiership, but could be very effective in the championship. Maybe some kind of swap? Murphy was solid for Fulham so Stoke might take a chance.
neophox Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Paul Robinson, Josh Morris and Gael Givet's contract expires on 30th june so may leave Loanies Sandomierski, Bentley, Stewart, DJ Campbell, Kazim and Jones has left the club. Henrique to leave on season loan. Thats 10 players to leave. I can also see Formica, Gomes, Ribeiro, Rosado, Jorge, Martin Olsson, Marcus Olsson, Pedersen, Goodwillie, Murphy and Orr leave the club this summer. That would be more than 20 players in total leaving club. In so far: Goalie from Pompey Taylor Kane on loan Judge
chaddyrovers Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Paul Robinson, Josh Morris and Gael Givet's contract expires on 30th june Bowyer said last season that Givet still has a year left on contract Paul Robinson signed a new contract last summer but wasnt announced publicly. He said on Sky Sports news 2 weeks ago that he still has 2 years left on contract Morris has signed a new contract.
Amo Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Looks like our head is firmly stuck in the bargain bin. Could turn out to be a good thing in the long-run if the finances are as bad as reports would have us believe. Rather that than Venky's blowing another load on a vain promotion bid.

Rather that than Venky's blowing another load on a vain promotion bid. as it was for the best part of 10 years prior to the Venkys, as long as we find more good'ns than bad, its fine with me.
CapeTownRover Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Yeh agree, bargains bin is fine, but as long as we don't get too many Edinhos etc. We have been down this route before, and picked up some gems like Samba, Benni, RSC etc for virtually nothing in terms of fees. Then again, the man who signed them was pretty good.

Personally I think people put too much emphasis on the transfer fee paid. Pre Bosman Judge would have cost between 1 - 2m - would you have felt better if we had paid that ? The quality and type of player Bowyer has brought in so far is what is required in this league - as well as not adding too much to the wage bill (doubt there are any Murphy type wages amongst the new recruits)
MrT Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 How on gods green earth did Robbo manage to bag a two year extension? More to the point, how come no one knew?? Lots and lots of silly contracts dished out under this regime, it will be interesting to see if we can shift some of them and their bloated long term contracts
mhead Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Happy with the moves so far. GB is building a core team around players with energy and skill. Players who will definitely play for the shirt. The hard job is getting rid of the 10 to 15 who are part of the Keano revolution plus Shebby's misfits. I think we are in good shape in most positions. Now await moves OUT not in.

Lots and lots of silly contracts dished out under this regime, it will be interesting to see if we can shift some of them and their bloated long term contracts Seems to be part of the plan. Move lots and lots of poor quality players and mangers in and out of the club overseen by an ever changing boardroom. Happy with the moves so far. Centre of midfield is still way too poor and Scot Dann is a weakest link in the centre of defence.
