Mercer Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 i have to agree with this Kamy. If Leeds had not come in with a better financial package, then he would no doubt have signed for us(mind, he has not sign for anybody yet) Of course he would - Rovers v Wolves no contest. One of Leeds, Bolton, Wigan, Leicester etc v Rovers then no chance.

Mercer Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Antgrad @Antgrad 6m Strange people are saying Luke Murphy has gone to Leeds because of a better offer when Nick Harris is reporting they have no money in place
chris_h Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 If the offers are close, and I think they are, then it is not ALL about money. Leeds have had their difficulties over the years but, IMO, their reputation has not sunk so low as that of Rovers. Brian McDermott has a very good reputation in the game and also with young players. With Bowyer, to many outside Blackburn, I would suggest it's a case of Gary who ? If Rovers, associates, fans and yourself think it is all about money then I think there is incredible naivety about. To be honest Mercerman, your reputation on here lags a considerable way behind Kamy's so Im not sure where your somewhat arrogant summation comes from. Im not saying you have an agenda but you do seem to enjoy spreading the gloom and bigging yourself up.
Torgeir Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 IF he has gone to Leeds it is ALL about money. He will listen to his agent/adviser, if Leeds are offering a better overall financial package then he will be advised to join them. Both Leeds and Rovers are in the same division so it comes down to the finances. On Friday we offered him a better standard of football and better financial package than Wolves so he was set to sign for us, now Leeds are offering him a better package than us so they are in pole position, if Rovers suddenly turnaround and increase the financial package then no doubt we will be his preferred destination. How can we offer him a better standard of football? Leeds finished above us (though only by three points) and we didn't excatly set the league alight with our style of play last season. Maybe he thinks he could take any of the two clubs up a division and prefers the bigger crowds, and arguably potential, of LUFC. Venky's have gone out of their way to prove what a shambles this club has become, it will probably take more than a fortnight of silence from India to turn all that around.

chris_h Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Not interested in p1ssing contests. No arrogance at all, just my opinion. then state it as such, don't state your opinion as if it is fact, as is your wont. in my opinion, of course
bringdunnback Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I don't think I am too disappointed to see us miss out on Murphy, delighted to see Danny Murphy leave however. Think we should let him go to Leeds, sign of the times? Possibly yes, but its also possibly good business decision making not to break the bank for a league 1 footballer. Fantastic to see unleaded back on these forums by the way. The first real 'itk' we ever had on this website!!! Edit - before people say, Rhodes is a different case, think its always a different with strikers.
Mercer Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 then state it as such, don't state your opinion as if it is fact, as is your wont. in my opinion, of course Thought I usually did !
Waggy76 Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I agree with you Mercerman unfortunately , has I see it more chance of Leeds being promoted than Rovers .... We have fallen to far down the ladder ,for it to be turned round overnight ..
cesus Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 We have offered what must be the clubs top terms for the player and he has obviously spoken to representatives of Rovers, hopefully Bowyer in which we have outlined our plans for the future. The lad by all reports is looking towards Leeds now maybe he has been offered better terms or a rosey future, that is nobody at BRFC's fault it's football. Always end on a high Danny Murphy has gone hallelujah!!! By the way I know it's Venkys fault but I mean the people trying to build the club up for this season not the morons having a great time of life thousands of miles from Ewood!
Lhrover Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Its good for the club that Murphy has gone, Id wish him all the best in the future. Overall he wasn't a success for us, but I'm sure that wasn't down to just him, I think he came here under false pretences by a manager who didn't know what he was going You guys shouldn't hate Danny Murphy after all he did play 35 times for us, scoring two goals. I can think of players we've had that have done worse.
Amo Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Im not saying you have an agenda but you do seem to enjoy spreading the gloom and bigging yourself up.Mercer has ALWAYS been a doom-monger of the highest order. How do you think he earned the nickname "Miseryman?" He's been like a pig in sh*t from the day Venky's took over.
CapeTownRover Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Of course he would - Rovers v Wolves no contest. One of Leeds, Bolton, Wigan, Leicester etc v Rovers then no chance. would you have said that if we were still in the PL, or even if we did not have Venkys in charge, and still had Finn and Williams running the show?
Mercer Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 would you have said that if we were still in the PL, or even if we did not have Venkys in charge, and still had Finn and Williams running the show? Nail on head. Okay, we know that money counts but very often, it also comes down to the club's credibility, stability and future prospects - unfortunately and sadly, at the moment, I think we are goosed on all three fronts.
davulsukur Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 People have brought up our poor reputation as a reason why players won't join us for the last 2 years or so. As far as i am aware, it hasn't stopped us signing anyone of our targets thus far? I don't think most players care too much about what happens above the manager at a football club. As long as they get paid every week, they will turn up.
Mercer Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Mercer has ALWAYS been a doom-monger of the highest order. How do you think he earned the nickname "Miseryman?" He's been like a pig in sh*t from the day Venky's took over. Quite untrue young man. Since Venky's took over, we have had precious little to cheer about. How can anyone be happy about what has happened under Venky's ownership. Why do I feel so disillusioned and so frustrated. It will apply to many but for me personally, after 50ish years of following Rovers, I think it's simply criminal (metaphorically), scandalous and very painful to see what has happened.
ABBEY Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 It's ok mercer their tenure only has about 40 days left .
The Rover of Finland Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Chris Flanagan seems to take his job seriously. The lad is tweating a lot about Rovers and he seems to know things first. He looks like doesn´t have age for driving license but maybe the photo lies.
ABBEY Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 We can only dream Not a dream .. Mercer drew me a picture promising
Kamy100 Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 BBC Radio Stoke confirm Leeds United make best offer to sign Crewe Alex Luke Murphy. (BBC Radio Stoke Sports Editor). Like I said earlier, this is all about money. Leeds and Rovers are at the same level, so this one will come down to who is offering the best package. Murphy's advisers will want their man to go to the club who is offering the best package, but as of yet he has signed for Leeds. So there is still an opportunity for Rovers, with Danny Murphy gone and Formica in talks with Bani Yas (Abu Dhabi) Rovers may well decide to up their package. We should not be looking at anyone who does not fully want to be at our club.
