rovers_rob Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Looks like Murphy is a done deal to Leeds, radio Stoke confirmed he will sign subject to a medical. Can't see anyone hijacking this deal at this late stage.

CapeTownRover Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Them days are long gone riggers . Mercenaries R us. Cowboys for the Win Abs lol

We conceded a lot of headed goals last season and I don't think Dann is a strong enough leader back there. Could be a shrewd move if the wages are right.
rigger Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Them days are long gone riggers . Mercenaries R us. Maybe they are, but if the Rovers took a stance, and tried to set standards, and build a squad that wanted to be with us, perhaps in the future we could attract good players. The outcome could not be any worse than what we have had to endure for the last couple of years.
beanie Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_rovers/news/10518149.Blackburn_Rovers_eyeing_move_for_Ireland_international_Richard_Dunne/ Richard Dunne on a free transfer? If we can't afford Luke Murphy then how the hell will we finance a move for Dunne.
Pelio Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 If we can't afford Luke Murphy then how the hell will we finance a move for Dunne. That's what I thought.... Surely Dunne would be on a lot more than what's being offered to L.Murphy??
davulsukur Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 From Sky Sports Transfer Clock Watch: We're expecting an announcement shortly that Crewe have sold captain Luke Murphy to Leeds United. Wolves and Blackburn were also bidding for the 23-year-old midfielder. The fee is believed to be £1million. chris_h Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 That's what I thought.... Surely Dunne would be on a lot more than what's being offered to L.Murphy?? I suppose there is a wage that the club is prepared to offer a player like Dunne and another that they would offer a comparative novice like Young Murphy.
Beta Ray Bill Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 That's what I thought.... Surely Dunne would be on a lot more than what's being offered to L.Murphy?? Wages are absolute. There will be different ceilings applied to what they think a player is worth and what he'd bring to the team. An established pro is likely to get more than a player with potential on the whole. But then again, Dunne is woeful.
Hekla Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Bad news. Like the other people have said, we have dropped remarkably in terms of reputation. Yes Leeds are big but Blackburn have been far more attractive for a number of years now.
davulsukur Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I would still think a lot of people regard Leeds as a bigger club than Rovers, even with all of Leeds problems. Even more so now we are both Championship clubs.
pedebumchin Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 To be fair to Murphy, if you could choose to go to Leeds or Rovers given what has happened to both clubs over the past couple of years there really isn't much choice is there... If Leeds have offered more cash as well it kind of becomes a no-brainer. Its a shame we missed out on him.
Pelio Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Wages are absolute. There will be different ceilings applied to what they think a player is worth and what he'd bring to the team. An established pro is likely to get more than a player with potential on the whole. But then again, Dunne is woeful. That's fair enough, it does make you wonder how far Rovers offer was from Leeds. McDermott obviously sees Murphy as a good prospect who could possibly make a good impact this year. I'm sure Bowyer thinks the same too - so it would come down to either saying he's not worth xx per week, or there's a limit we can go to now. Then we're linked to Dunne, who I personally think would be out of our wage range now. Unless we're looking to sell Dann, or Givet's leaving. In which case, the wages may even themselves out. Perhaps if Dann goes somehow, replace with Dunne and it gives us some cash for paying off more wasters in the squad which we can't shift.
Stuart Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_rovers/news/10518149.Blackburn_Rovers_eyeing_move_for_Ireland_international_Richard_Dunne/ Richard Dunne on a free transfer? There was a similar argument in our midfield last season when we signed Murphy. Let's hope it the Dunne one is true that he has some hunger in him. He certainly has a presence - IF he can stay fit.
patrickvalery Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Linked with some other bloke now. Samba Sow. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8800724/
Waggy76 Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I nothing about Murphy but him going to Leeds suggests to me , we aren't going to make much impact on the top 8 this coming season !!!! One thing , does puzzle me though why aren't the bottom end Premier clubs chasing him ? Thought if he was any good the likes of Hull, Cardiff , palace, Norwich etc would be all over him .... Samba Sow the new name , no idea about him either but if the report is true Rovers or Bolton , I can see another disappointment on the horizon ... Think back to the Don mackay days , he knew the players just couldn't sign them ! This is not having ago at Bowyer cos the club is not run like it was in those days ...
owenrilla Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Linked with some other bloke now. Samba Sow. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8800724/ Replacing a shuffling donkey with a dancing pig?
CapeTownRover Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Replacing a shuffling donkey with a dancing pig? thats harsh that. he is a very good prospect, is Samba Sow.
pick32 Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Don't think we should make a big song and dance out of bein linked to him we will probably make a pigs ear of it.
BradlaayBRFC Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Wigan have apparently made an offer for James Perch. Did we ever find out if he was the 'utility man' we was after?

This is not having ago at Bowyer cos the club is not run like it was in those days ... slight overeaction to say it`s a don mackay situation. we`ve missed out on one player due to not getting involved in a wages bidding war, but we`ve also signed 2 sought after players in judge and taylor. swings and roundabouts, it`s a slight disappointment, but you move on and look at a.n. other..
CapeTownRover Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samba_Sow_(footballer_born_1989)
Guest Norbert Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I think Eddie or LeChuck has lived/lives in France so they'd have more of an idea about Sow. What's he like on the latest version of FM ?
