slight overeaction to say it`s a don mackay situation. we`ve missed out on one player due to not getting involved in a wages bidding war, but we`ve also signed 2 sought after players in judge and taylor. swings and roundabouts, it`s a slight disappointment, but you move on and look at a.n. other..

To me its more like a Roy Keane situation

I think Eddie or LeChuck has lived/lives in France so they'd have more of an idea about Sow. What's he like on the latest version of FM ;)?

Gumboots would also have some sort of an idea, but not sure i cant remember if Mrs C follows Lens. lol sorry if you dont Mrs C

Not me. Never even been to France!

On the face of it he doesn't look a good substitute for Murphy. The appealing thing with Murphy was his box-to-box play with the ability to score goals from midfield because we don't have anyone who can do that. 1 career goal for Sow suggests he's much more defensive and we already have Willliamson and Etuhu who can sit in front of the back four.

Think Cloughie once slept in his car outside Archie Gemmill's house to make sure he didn't slip away.

Once you've hooked the buggers, you make sure they don't slip away - close the deal fast.

Stuff coming out of Leeds' area suggests McDermott did a super selling job on the lad.

Still think that this is not all about money especially as Leeds aren't supposed to have any ! Think I'll be proven right when the facts begin to leak.

Sorry confused - they have no money and yet have just spent over £1m for a player ? Personally - if we have stuck to a budget I will actually be pleased.

What I mean is that some on here are suggesting that Leeds blew us out of the water on wages. He might be getting more there but doubt the bunce is as big as some think.

Guest Norbert

Never mind, I'm sure the new owners will have plenty of cash for Janurary or the latter stages of this window :P.

I haven't seen a post that suggests anyone is saying Leeds are offering loads more, simply that they have offered more.

Given that we know Leeds are on a tight budget it is very surpising. I think he'll be worth far more than the £1 million fee just paid in a year or two.

I'll be stunned if he's on more than £10k a week at Leeds. We've probably lost out on a very good player for the sake of a few grand a week, which when you consider what Murphy was on makes it peanuts.

Murphy completes move to Leeds. Wrong decision but good luck to him.

Plenty of other decent midfielders out there. We need two cm's - Jones and one more.

How is it a wrong decision? Evidence suggests they are a better team than us

No one suggesting that. They offered more in the total financial package, particularly in performance related bonuses, so Murphy signed for them.

The point I was trying to make is that it's not all down to money !

I think the difference in the two offers is not that great and certainly less than your 'a few grand a week'.

The noise from across the Pennines is that Murphy was 'wowed' and not just by the money - McDermott seemingly played a blinder.

Would think he's got a much better chance of earning them with Leeds than our lot !

That's the main thing eh? I thought it wasn't a p*ss*ng contest.

No-one can blame him for going to Leeds. It's a potentially massive club who've offered a better deal. You may think it reflects badly on BRFC but that's just your opinion. You don't KNOW any facts, you just twist everything to suit your own particular viewpoint.

Visit Leeds quite often with my work and have been 'entertained' at Elland Road on several occasions. Guess I know nothing then !

Pray tell how that gives you an insight into either the club's finances or the psyche of a young pro footballer.....

you know everything. you're like Shebby.

IMO, it's morons like you who have spoiled this MB.

TBH, it feels like it's no longer worth bothering with.

Let's take a rain check at the end of the month and see where we are.

It's not rocket science - simply know a few people who follow Leeds closely and pick a few bits up from them.

According to Mr Nixon we're in talks with Kilgallon & DJ Campbell's training with us.

I wonder if that needs filing under 5o mill & Rhodes to Bolton. Wouldn't trust a word of that fibber !

That's all fair enough, you just invalidated it a bit by making up the bit about people saying there was a big difference in the money offered because no-one has said it.

What this episode might suggest is that technical director is something we should continue to look at. Obviously all this is very new to Bowyer and the only other person that might be involved is Shaw. Hardly inspiring. Someone like Mike Rigg, with experience of selling a club and tieing up deals, might really give Bowyer a boost in situations where we are battling with other clubs.

Either someone experienced like that or a bigger name. I agree with people saying it's going to be a case of "Gary who?" outside of Blackburn.

Same Nixon who said Murphy and Formica were gone last night?

I'm actually pleased that we are now running like a championship club we should cut our cloth accordingly.
