[Archived] possible transfer targets summer 2013

Maybe so, but then I'm probably one of the few people that think he's very over rated. Massive, amazing skill but only turns it on when he can be bothered to turn up to the party. Those players really annoy me. Apart from the one game against England, he's looked more lethargic and disinterested than if Berbatov was playing a charity game after 4 or 5 pints.

I actually think he is one of those players who is class but has never really done it against English teams not that i'm questioning your knowledge of foreign football but i have always thought he suffered from that when being discussed in English football circles. His last performance vs England aside.

Chaddy any news on Jones?

Not heard anything.

Think Rovers looking to sign Luke Murphy who we miss out on and now chasing and bidding for Jay Spearing suggest we have move on from signing Jones and now targeting other Centre Midfielders. I think Bowyer is looking for maybe one more CM unless we can get rid of Etuhu and Peds. this is assuming we sign Alex Marrow aswell

Does anybody know why we haven't announce the signings of Kilgallon and Marrow? most people who are 'ITK' say we have signed them

Killgalon has come from a Prem club so he'll be on a decent wage as will DJ Campbell so despite the pay offs the wage bill still seems to be going up considering all the signings.

I reckon Kilgallon will be on 12 to 15k a week and when we sell Dann and we will save on his wage which is suppose to be 30 k a week.

I admit I'm no expert on every league in the world, but almost every time I've seen him he has been lazy, had a poor first touch, disinterested, and blinkered. The exception being that game against England when he really did show what the hype was about. Sort of like Anelka in between his Arsenal and Bolton spells. Mind you Totti was always the biggest charlatan forward. Great in Serie A, poo at every other level. There is a tendancy to believe in the hype of foreign players with puppy dog eyes normally reserved for US 'soccer' fans who support Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

And I do hope we get Jones and/or Spearing before others start making a move.

That may be the case, Williamson, Etuhu, Lowe etc. can do the water carrying whilst A. N. Other may provide that spark when Dunn's contract is not up for renewel.

Ibrahimovic has won 9 league titles (8 of which in a row) in 10 seasons with 5 different clubs. That's all you need to know, really.

Anyway, Swedish media says we've now accepted bids for Martin Olsson from Norwich and Russian outfit Kuban Krasnodar.

That's wrong because two of those league titles of Ibrahimovic's that you include which he won at Juventus the club were stripped off due to their involvement in the Calciopoli Scandal.

Back on to transfer matters I am getting a little concerned about the time it is taking to confirm the Kilgallon deal. IMO he would be a good signing if he stays fit as I always rated him at Leeds and Sheff Utd whenever I saw him play.

I agree we should go for better than Jones. Centre midfield has been the main problem since Tugay and Savage.

Savage?? That guy was the epitome of a water carrier! And to use him in the same sentence as Tugay when talking about footballers is sacrilege!!

C'mon Mani ... not having that Robbie Savage was the best midfielder in the world .................................................... when opposition had the ball  then totally average when he had it lol

He's non stop all action displays meant he was a perfect partner for Tugay and imo Tugay played the best football of his Rovers career when he played alongside Savage

that's the point Savage always makes. He was the workhorse, harrying the opposition, never letting them settle, scaring them into giving the ball away, then he'd pick it up and give it to tugay to do something with. Savage never thought he was a world beater either but he knew what to do and as part of a pair he was as important to us as Tugay.

Look at his career stats and how many top sides have bought him it should tell you something. As for Totti I agree to a certain extent i know he is class but i've never been impressed by him when i've seen him play.

Shelvey Shelverson.

But I'm interested in your thoughts on JoJo - and Spearing for that matter.

Never spoke to him, but the bloke with him was surely an agent, no idea who. Looked greasey.

Have heard jonjo has a bad attitude but don't know for sure, he hasn't really shone at Pool, so maybe Swanseas will be good for him. Change of sence, dissappointment might be the kick up the arse he needs? Can play though.

Spearing is a brute, better than what we have so I'd be for that move. But we need creativity and legs in their first, Judge, MGP nor Dunn can play in the two used today. Two are not mobile enough and the other for me suits a three man midfield but not a two in a 442 (MGP). Everyone keeps saying he was a league one player of the year, but the gap between the two leagues isn't as small as some would think.

Have to be honest and say we need a few players and starters at that. I do wish we'd sign some quality as today for me was really poor, we just had no class and no better than Wrexham if honest. I know it's pre-season but one main complaint from last year was we looked unfit & lacked desire, I saw the same today, some couldn't even play 45min, that's dire even at this early stage of pre-season.
