I admit I'm no expert on every league in the world, but almost every time I've seen him he has been lazy, had a poor first touch, disinterested, and blinkered. The exception being that game against England when he really did show what the hype was about. Sort of like Anelka in between his Arsenal and Bolton spells. Mind you Totti was always the biggest charlatan forward. Great in Serie A, poo at every other level. There is a tendancy to believe in the hype of foreign players with puppy dog eyes normally reserved for US 'soccer' fans who support Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

It's sad really that just because he hasn't been great against English teams, many English fans naturally assume he's always like that. Quite odd how so many people have missed out on the many brilliant games he's had, on small stages like the San Siro, Nou Camp, in the WC and so forth. I know there's the old David May argument, but the fact that Zlatan has lifted the league trophy in 10 of the last 11 seasons (Albeit two with Juve) with 6 different clubs and has been an integral part of all those teams (Except maybe Barca) should tell you something of his ability.

He is inconsistent. He can be an idiot at times (Although much less so now than in the past). But part of what I love about him is that he can do absolutely anything, at any time. Good, bad, or ugly. Lobs, dribbling past 7 players and rounding the keeper, long range free kicks, 35 yard rockets (Left or right foot), backheels, headers, tap-ins, volleys, shots from no angle, overhead kicks, brilliant passes, the most stupid fouls. He does everything. I'm just gonna take the opportunity to post some videos.

A collection of some of his best goals. Misses out on some of his best for Sweden though (Such as the above against Italy). No idea why that first free kick vs England is there though.

IT IS NOT BECAUSE ZLATAN HAS NOT PLAYED IN ENGLAND OR BEEN GREAT AGAINST ENGLISH TEAMS. CAN YOU NOT READ?????? CHRIST ALMIGHTY. IT IS BECAUSE THE FEW TIMES I HAVE SEEN HIM HE HAS LARGELY BEEN INCONSISTENT AND FRUSTRATING.

Is that clear enough?

Ibrahimovic has won 9 league titles (8 of which in a row) in 10 seasons with 5 different clubs. That's all you need to know, really.

No. No it isn't.

So are we targeting Ibrahimovic as our new target man? Not good enough eh?

We really are skint, aren't we?

Not really!!!

The owners are prepare to put funds in but we cant due to Rovers NEEDED to meet the Football League Financial Fair Play rules and Fans need to understand this BIG TIME.

Derek Shaw has said that few weeks ago that the owners were prepare to put funds in but we have to meet these rules. Think the interview was BBC Radio Lancashire.

I think fans do need to understand this "big time" Chaddy, yourself included. (Ever wondered why people get annoyed with you?)

My take on FFP is that an owner could donate money - e.g. Shirt or stand sponsorship (after all, who decides the commercial value of a unique selling point? I could well see a legal challenge from anyone trying to set a limit on that).

The real issue (again as I see it) is that FFP will prevent clubs being loaded with unsustainable debt.

If Venkys do, as you say, want to put money in then they can. If they can't then we can kiss goodbye to our football club because we cannot afford for them to stop subsidising our losses.

Where the money is really coming from (e.g. bank loan) is a problem later on.

I look forward to kamy's advertised podcast with an FFP expert which might clear this up.

Do you believe Mr Shaw though Mr Chaddy? That's the question.

Like I said before, it probably has been destroyed by the agents and Shebby.Hopefully it will be addressed though before we try to buy Oumar Konde and Dario Marcolin.

This is the first GB signing I'm generally worried out. I'm happy with kane, Taylor, judge and Campbell and even killgallon / evatt who look like joining as I think they will all do well in the championship.

This lad looks like a big lad who scored Afew in Scotland but so did goodwillie. We already have best, Rhodes, dj Campbell and rochina who can play up top. I'm starting to wonder why were signing higdon?

So, Higdon. Another one known very well to Mcphillips. The scouting department seems not existent down at Ewood.

He had a fantastic season last term including goals against Celtic,he is well known to a member of our coaching staff and is available on a free. You would have good reason to moan if we weren't looking at him.

I'm not sure why we'd be even considering signing another senior striker unless one of our current forwards is leaving, the Higdon thing just looks like plain old tabloid gossip(the usual sunday morning side column bs)

Stuart, that's a good summary. That's my take on the FFP as well. It's about making it impossible for owners to take big loans out on their football clubs.

In saying that, Rovers have to cut their losses as its surely unsustainable for the owners to cover circa £30m losses each year.

Don't see the problem in taking a punt on him. Free, low wages, Scottish player of the year, and will be 5th choice.

If he was being brought in as our main striker then I'd be worried. He's not. He'll be 5th choice.

Think Bowyer look at him but now DJ has signed don't see why we need him. plus we got Rhodes, Best, DJ, Rochina, King and Forrester, so I don't see why we need another striker.

even Nixon has said this afternoon that Rovers look into him and what his wages would be but not be in for talks or Medical.

Rovers seems to be in for Spearing and hopefully if Olsson goes then we can use that Money for signing Spearing.

Posted

Spearing would be a monumental signing for us I think, if the owners are planning to push the boat out on one big transfer this summer(as they did with Rhodes last year) then he should be the man, a real battling lynchpin in the heart of the team that would help give our attacking players more freedom to express themselves.

Posted

But that is our problem, signing players that can be way down the pecking order. People like Bruno, Rosado, Markus Olsson, Orr, Edinho just hanging on. We have Rhodes and I would have Rochina as his partner. Then you have Best as an alternative, as unfortunately he won't be sold as no one will want an injury prone striker with high wages and a bad attitude. Then we have DJ, who is a potentially useful alternative, and you can use King in his natural position centrally. We then have the loan market to supplement these during the season.

We need 2 central midfielders, Spearing and Jones would be perfect. We need a left back if Olsson goes, maybe someone like Jack Robinson on loan, the confirmation of the Kilgallon deal and then look at potentially bringing in a pacy winger if we can shift more baggage to complete the squad, maybe Adomah.

During this time we should look to shift Orr, I'd be happy to see Dann and Martin Olsson go for a decent fee, Rosado, Formica, Bruno, Edinho, Jorge, Pedersen and Markus Olsson.

Kean

Henley Hanley Givet Robinson

Adomah Spearing Jones Taylor

Rochina Rhodes

Robinson

Kane O'Connor Kilgallon Morris

Judge Williamson Etuhu King

Dunn

Campbell

With Eastwood, Best, O'Connell/Edwards, Nunes, Lowe(unless we can sell him) and Forrester also in the squad.

Plenty of options there.

Orr has never had a problem finding a club to take him on loan as he is well established at this level(we only really want rid because hes burnt to many bridges with the fans)

Posted

I only included him because we don't need more than 2 right backs, and I would like Henley first choice and Kane second. I have never had a problem with Orr, has always given 100% and is ok at championship level.
