[Archived] possible transfer targets summer 2013

Recommended Posts

Play Ruben upfront. He might not be a big target man but he holds the ball, he has such tight control at times the ball appears glued to him. He is great as an outlet to relieve pressure and let us get forward. The problem last season was he was played deep. When he left we struggled, Rhodes can't hold the ball, or beat a man. Those that say Rochina isn't up to it don't know a footballer.. Probably Ashley Ward lovers- 'oohhhh doesn't he work hard'.. Raw ability will always prevail over hard work 9/10 in my opinion. Drop Barcelona or a Real Madrid into the championship.. Would they not b able to cope with the pace? I want a side that can play football and is mobile. We didn't have that last season. That doesn't men all you need is battlers! Skill and hardwork!

Are you on something drop 29 goal Jordan Rhodes for Rochina go and lie down in a dark room.

Sorry to completely derail the thread, but what happened to that 16 year old Spanish defender we signed when Sam was in charge? I forget his name.

Javier De Pedro? That's the only guy I can think of. But he might have been a midfielder.

I think he means play them both.

De Pedro was about 31 when we signed him. The player I'm thinking of was a big central defender who a few clubs were after at the time. He may have been called Hernandez.

Probably is him. I don't know much about the reserves/youth team so it would not surprise me if he was the guy.

Wasn't suggesting dropping Rhodes, where did I say that? I think you need to get your eyes tested. I'd like o see Ruben play upfront with Rhodes to compliment what he lacks. I don't think there would be enough dynamism between Rhodes+Best/DJ.. Is that ok with you mate, a different opinion?

Without a doubt you are thinking Hugo Fernandez and Salgado was involved in the move as well. Was a ball playing central defender but has sorta been moved around (def mid, on the right etc) since... one player I would love to see given a chance with Payne (also moved around a fair bit from prolific striker to attacking midfield but has been earning full international caps/goals for NZ already).

Rovers should be being linked with some good players by now whats going on.

Did'nt Bowyer say last Monday in the LT, that we should have a couple of signings in by the end of next week.

We'll have to hope they're decent and not just plodders or it's bottom half of the table for us.

If hes going to play Jason Lowe in the middle with Williamson ill go for a relegation battle right from the off.

Like who JAL?

Im waiting for the names to be linked, which at this moment in time there doesnt seem to be anyone.

How long till the season kicks off ?

We definitely need a couple of quality mids and a quick wide man who can cross a good ball, imo of course.

As a team GB fan, football is mainly about the players as the players get you the results. For me, the criticism at this moment in time is that team GB are NOT surrounding themselves with the right players to get those desired/expected results.

We do need that bit of quality in central midfield, but is Taylor quick and can put in a good cross? I don't know what sort of winger he is.

Pretty sure Taylor will be a decent signing from what i've read about him, definitely put more effort in than most of the bums we've had playing

in Rovers' shirts for the last 2 years. Just not sure whether he has the quality we would need to make us a team challenging for promotion, should

be a good squad player though.

That bit of extra quality is what we need now, may be our last chance to have a serious go at promotion for many years to come.

Got a name like a superhero. Wikipedia describes him as an attacking midfielder. Hopefully he can score more goals than he has done if we sign him.

Cue the usual lot saying he's rubbish because he is from league 1.

I have my eyes tested every year, glad to see you clarified your position on Jordan Rhodes but I think Ruben Rochina is not up to the job as a partner for Rhodes just a different opinion mate.

Well rovers looking at good young prospects isn't to be sniffed at I suppose. But, imo, we still desperately need a leader. Someone who has got it in his locker to drag the rest of the side up by their boot straps when things arent looking too rosy. Considering Craig Short is the ideal example and he's now in amongst the set up, I'm surprised we haven't recruited this type yet. For me Dean Hammond from Southampton would have been a great addition.

I see where you're coming from Patrick, and I agree. We do need that experienced, talented pro to go with the youngsters. Someone like Mark Draper who was solid and under rated.

Maybe Kilgallon might be that type, do you know much about his character ?

Would'nt be surprised if Craig Short recommended him !

As for the good young prospects all very well, but not whats required to get us challenging for promotion this coming season, if

thats what the intention is, or maybe Venky's are in no hurry, build slowly, who knows ?
