Was at Leeds last year and left when that nice manager left.

French guy, bit worried if true, has journeyman written all over him, but then again what do I know, never heard of him, you just tend

to think, will he ' like it up im ' in the Champ.

Gary Coulibaly strongly linked to us in the French press. I work with a French lad who supports Monaco and in his words, he's a DM who wasn't good enough for Monaco in Ligue 2. Had been expected to go to Sheff Weds, not sure if he had been on loan recently. Article states £3m - note none of this is my judgement - I've never seen or head anything of him.

This was on the Talksport site a couple of weeks back. Wednesday have since signed Jeremy Helan from Man City so it may be that he's still looking for an English club.

Definitely can't see this one happening unless, we're back to brown envelopes.

no way !

Anyone else getting a whiff of Carlos Villanueva about the Bulgarian?

Looks like a potential Rochina replacement to me. Bowyer has said he rates Ruben's qualities, so you can imagine that if we lose him he may wish someone of that type. A flair player with the potential to unlock a tricky defence when the standard approach is failing. The lad seems to have good close control, technical skills, striking ability, and reacts quickly to changes in a situation. However, he also seems to run into blind alleys and showboat without need. Similar age too.

Im happy that the transfers is keeping under the wraps....Bowyer is asking for patience and not to listen to the speculation.

This is the best way to make sure we get the players that are right for Rovers and not listen to any Global Advisor. I'm pleased that Bowyer with His approach to sign players.

here is Bowyer interview on Rovers website http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/targets-in-mind-914387.aspx

I can see us signing Monaco midfielder Coulibaly on loan with a view to signing him next summer permanent if he performs well and if we get promotion to PL

Anyone know much about our next signing from Monaco? Looks as though it's a done deal.

Hardly exciting career, basically a lower french league player, played 21 times for Monaco in 2 years, not considered good enough now they have been promoted.

Was at Sheff Wed on trial last week , but they obviously did'nt want him.

Well thats how it seems to have panned out anyway.

If we've used the same scout/procedure that got us the Zonz then it may turn out fine. The people I know who've seen the games so far seem to rate Songo'o. May hopefully see for myself vs Rochdale.

Songo'o is only 21 he is still learning his craft as a defender, could be decent, the Monaco lad is 27 not really done much, hard to understand this one.

Any word on Songo'o? Did he play ok in his trial games so far and what's his best position?

He suppose to have played very well so far. He played Right back for first half of the game in Portugal and is mainly a centre back.

according to Transfermarkt he has played 48 times for Monaco over the past 2 seasons. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/gary-coulibaly/leistungsdaten-detail/spieler_44689.html

He is a defensive midfielder so would this mean the end of Etuhu then? Wonder if he been on trial last week in Portugal or been recommended by scout or someone Bowyer knows. maybe he will play tomorrow night against Crewe on trial before we signed him on loan/permanent

Nobody know who Nzonzi was when he signed and he turned out to be very good player for us. his team in Ligue 2 got relegated.

Maybe a little harsh. Never seen him play but he was Monaco captain but fell out with the manager last year. Not needed anymore because they have bought in world class players.

Sheff W couldn't afford him as Monaco wanted 3m euros.

Doesn't exactly inspire me but may turn out to be decent.

Did'nt mean to be harsh just did'nt know much about him,

wiki says he only played 22 times in 2 years, which is obviously wrong.

Someone must rate him if we are about to pay 3m euros, did'nt know

he was captain either his wiki page says very little actually.

He played 20mins for us against steaua in our first friendly.

Think he didn't play too bad and Dave jones was interested in him. Obviously we won't be paying 3m for what is a French championship player.

I think that price tag is paper talk though as he wouldn't be on trail if that was the price they touted before the trail.

Sounds like a Dario Marcolin or Martin Andreson type to me.

Lots of potential, but bang average.

Must be someone better than a 27 year old not good enough for the French 2nd division?

Sorry for not quoting the post and poster who offered the opinion of his Monaco supporting mate. But the fact a Monaco fan thinks he wasn't good enough for them last year doesnt bother me in the slightest. That bunch of happy campers were on a promise to bigger and better things. I don't imagine they had the inclination to consider the virtues of there squad when they were told how the club intended to blow PSG out of the water this summer.

Two key points for me. One, he has just achieved promotion. Albeit in a different country, having winners in the squad is only ever a good thing. And two he captained the side. Our squad desperately needs leadership. Not seen him play and I'm not saying he's going to be a worldie. But trying to remain upbeat, there might be some hidden positives in this deal.

Is this French guy not good enough for French Ligue 2 or is he not good enough to get into a team of Moutinho's, Falcao's etc once Monaco have been promoted... cause theres a monumental difference...

The latter. He would be a decent signing, is a defensive midfielder though thought u would need more an attacking or creative centre midfielder
