I guess it does show we must of been very very close to signing the lad, that can only be a positive, shame it does not look like it's happening though :(

i want players who really want to play for us and up for the fight, this guys has got it in his head he better than he is, if he that good why at 1.5 mill are other clubs not cueing up to sign him, i wouldn't even bother wasting my time phoning him

why spearing in our pre season programme saying he signed

Reminds me when Oliver Bierhoff name was on all the betting slips at the ground when we nearly signed him!!

Spearing looks a big headed prick....a Little bit unsure about him.

Never judge a book by it's cover.

I dont get the hatred towards Spearing. If I was a premier league player I'd think long and hard about dropping a division and I think longer and harder about joining a club like Rovers who have been run like a circus for the past 3 years. Bowyer will have to do one hell of a sell to get him to even start talking about contracts.

time to move on i think , if the lad doesn't want to come then fine , no need to get upset just move on to next target .... Frimpomg anyone ?

He's 24 and about to enter his prime. He's bound to be cautious. If a prem club wants him but he chose to drop a division, frankly I'd send him to a shrink.

It's more the wording of the article making it sound like he thinks he is doing us a favour by talking to Bowyer than anything he's actually done.

Yep why would he be in a rush to leave a steady upper mid table premier league club to come to a team that narrowly avoided relegation to league one and possibly the biggest laughing stock in English football?

Posted

Hopefully Bowyer will convince him that we are going to push for promotion. If he joins then we're certainly starting to look like it imo. And if/when he joins he's the type of player that will be up for a dogfight, I wouldn't assume otherwise just because he has reservations about joining us.

Not fussed on Spearing...as long as the fee is low which is seems and his wages aint crazy then id be haooy enough to have him, never rated him as a PL player so if he thinks hes above us and starts throwing his weigh around then leave him off..wouldnt lose any sleep..

Come on, it's an article written by someone employed by Sports Direct!

sums up perfectly how it should be.

Mike the only problem I have with this statement yes he is being cautious if a prem lge club wanted him at 1.5M they would have already have come in at such a steal & talking about dropping a division that is blown out of the water as that article clearly states he would prefer to go to Bolton who were a championship side last time I looked.

This sums up exactly what he thinks about our club we really should move on I would rather have players who want to be here Not some player who thinks he is bigger than the club.

For me having a player around who might start throwing his weight around I would rather we sign someone who will be up for the fight so for me no great loss.

Lee you hit the nail right on the head when I saw he would only speak to Gaz over the phone I wouldn't bother phoning him only for him to turn us down if he can't be bothered to get on a plane & discuss the deal face to face I would just move on he is not bigger than the club itself.

Spearing looks a big headed prick....a Little bit unsure about him.

I wonder if there has been something agreed on him?

my opinion exactly he does look like some big headed prick.

This whole situation sums up exactly how high an opinion some young players think of themselves and would not want such players here esp when you have Jones who wants to come all we need to do is make an offer ok might not be as good as Spearing but at least he will put a shift in & give 110% & wants to be here and most importantly if we dither and dally we could miss out on both.

He can kiss my big arse, go to bolton then, or is that one of Nicko's mates reporting. I concur with the other posters if he is so great why are Liverpool allowing him to go for 1.5 and why are Bolton not knocking the door down to get him.

Hatred? that's a bit heavy init?
