[Archived] Media Watch -> Bowyer confirmed as Rovers boss

Recommended Posts

Brian Mcdermott

Chris Hughton

Nigel Adkins

Alan Pardew

Already been debunked.

McDermott and Adkins both had lower league management experience before taking over Championship clubs.

Pardew was caretaker at Madjeski's League Two Reading and was an ex-Reading player who took over aged 38. Different kettle of fish and, again, lower league experience.

Chris Hughton had a PL squad and got the bounce that rarely happens in the Championship. He seems to be the one everyone points to but the fact that he's the only one - and in unique circumstances - doesn't make it great odds. He was also sacked after getting them promoted.

There really isn't much of a precedent for our situation and a club of our size. We needed experience, we got another gamble.

Let's hope Bowyer has what it takes to avoid being another Sbragia or even our very own failed caretaker manager, but let's also not pretend that there are many examples of this being a successful strategy.

You only have to look at the experience of managers who have reached the top 6 in the last few PL seasons. Experience wins out.

Fair play...I stand corrected. Those four have done well. To sound Monty Python esque....besides those 4 name some successful conversions from caretaker to permanent . :D

You want some more ?? Simon Grayson (at Blackpool), Billy Davies (Preston) :D

I accept he hasn't go experience but Mclaren went in at Forest and look what he did ?

To be fair we can't compare any situation anywhere else to what we have at Rovers but so far Bowyer hasn't give us a reason not to give him the opportunity or support.

proof! ha, (yes your honour)

This is Blackburn, there's lots of small minded, ignorant, bigoted people in Blackburn(im sure we all know a few) so law of averages says that there's obviously going to be a good few amongst rovers fans(and those types are usually the loudest trouble makers/gobs##### on the terraces), but like I say only a tiny tiny minority.

So it isn't racism you accuse this board of ( your reply to bawr) . So WHAT exactly are you accusing this forum of . ?

Probably about as real as Pardew at Stoke being sacked.

Grayson - League One

Davies - managed Motherwell

There really aren't many PL or Championship precedents for this that you'd want to copy.

Its clear to me that comments towards Bowyer are just frustration at there being no changes to the Board structure at the club.

Under a capable Board, Bowyer would be backed 100% by the fans I think.

Last season was a disaster and those that were responsible are still around the club.

Under a capable board he would have had to apply for the job like other managers and gone through an interview process.

On the caretaker issue I suspect you will find a lot of these managers who did a caretaker stint and then got the job were assistant managers or coaches. Bowyer is taking an even greater leap, going from a Reserve Team Manager role dealing with the youth team and becoming Manager. It's a bigger leap than even Kean made, Kean was on the first team coaching staff and had experience as an assistant manager.

This point won't determine whether he's a success or not, but I think this proves it is a mega gamble by the club. I personally don't think it will pay off, but we shall see.

I haven't acused the forum of anything, getting a bit desperate with your poop stiring and character assassination attempts with me, you do make me giggle though.

Some pathetic comments above, Bowyers now equal to Kean because he's polite about his employer! (the more comments like this I read the more I'm sure there's a small handful on here that have further issues with the venkys that aren't even remotely football related)

You didn't accuse any board member of anything then did you not . I think your puddled or vinjay .

sorry, I forgot that's the brfc/s elephant in the room

I only think its a tiny tiny minority of fans, but sadly their quite a vocal and sometimes influential minority(I mean come on! this is Blackburn and if you take 100 random people at least 20% of them will be dingle minded towards theses things)

Then you changed it to rovers and people from Blackburn in general .... Feel free to elaborate .

Any manager is only as good a the quality of the players he has at his disposal. So with this in mind hes(allegedly) signed three league one players on frees, early days, but what does that tell you?

One can only hope that theres a massive improvement on whats gone on so far.

Williamson was League One, wasn't he? He keaned all over Murphy and Etuhu. He's also worked with Judge before.

I'll give Bowyer the benefit of the doubt when it comes to player picks.

I still don't know why people are so hung up on where players were signed from.

Dann, Chimbonda, Murphy, Etuhu, god even ones like Matteo were all Premier League. Grella - Serie A

Rhodes, Williamson - League 1, Reid/Neill - Championship, Nelsen - MLS, Samba/Warnock/Friedel - couldn't get a game, Nzonzi - French 2nd division,

It means nothing.

You really aren't the sharpest are you(and coming from me thats saying something haha)

The post youve quoted are pretty self explanatory when read in the context of the tread at the time, i was simply pondering as to why a small few individuals mind set regarding rovers is the way it is.

Goodbye Abbey, keep on trucking.

He might not be the sharpest in your opinion but he's made you look a fool.

Did you not state that some of the posts on this forum against Bowyer's appointment were only made because people had racial issues against Venkys?

Or are you going to try and be clever and invent some other "non-footballing issues" that "small minded, ignorant, bigoted people in Blackburn" have that you were really implying?

One is a back up keeper recommended to him by his goalkeeping coach. One a player who got in the league one team of the year and who he has worked with before and who knows maybe did not think he should have been cut.

The other we have signed is a winger who played against us at least three times if not four last year yet you have labelled him league one do you watch the games?

Getting desperate lads, seems ive touched a nerve with the 3 of you, shame you havent actually read the posts and the posts that where around them to be able to see where i was coming from(and your conveniently missing out key words like'individuals' and tiny tiny minority)

But who am i kidding, you understood the posts fully, your just twisting them and abbey and bawa are being drama queens as per, gladly most people on this forum can see through manipulative tricks like that(not that they give a stuff about our nonsense)

No desperation matey. I've read the posts around the incident again and from nowhere you suddenly say "Some pathetic comments above, Bowyers now equal to Kean because he's polite about his employer! (the more comments like this I read the more I'm sure there's a small handful on here that have further issues with the venkys that aren't even remotely football related)"

Now just to clarify, can we please have a Yes or No answer:-

Are you or are you not sure that there is a small handful on here that have further issues with venky's that aren't even remotely football related?

If yes, please expand as to what these issues are.

that's a leading question if ever there was one, the posts where self explanatory(to me anyway, sorry my gramma is so poor)

and actually, yes, considering brfcs has thousands of members and brfc has 10s of thousands (and Blackburn 100s of thousands) im pretty sure that its safe to say there are going to be a few of them that have other issues that factor into there hatred of having the venkys as owners, its a simple truth,

Gladly though they are the tinniest minority and most are just fed up with the venkys solely because of their disastrous running of the club thus far,

I don't think there's anything to far fetched or offensive about this what im saying.

p.s. im not specifically acusing anybody of anything, seems to me abbeyNco. are just trying to vilify me as per...they seem to think brfcs is just a popularity contest(and im well aware im not the most popular, its fine though, ill cope :( )

That's a generalisation .. What proof have you to slander fans reputation ? Your equal to JA because he came out with this .. Just one bit of evidence where fans have panned venkys racial style .

So any predictions where we will finish under Bowyer next year?

I'll start off and say 5th, but will go down to last game of season.

hard to say at the minute, best im prepared to guess right now is top 8 with the current squad, but keep our best players and add a few good signings and that will obviously improve.

p.s. im like Jerome Anderson now, didn't you know hehe, lordy lordy, I give up.
